Is MTG Really this stupid?

Perjury Traitor Greene seems to think that solar and wind energy only work when there's sun and wind, apparently she's never heard of batteries, you mean they don't have batteries in deep, dark Georgia where she's from? Is her brain even capable of keeping her breathing?

“Thank god for air conditioning. Let’s talk about refrigerators. I personally like my refrigerator. I know you all like yours. What about washing machines and dryers? Lord please God don’t make me scrub clothes in a bucket and have to hang them out on a line when we switch over to wind turbines and solar panels,” she said. “I’m gonna be really pissed off about that. I mean, how absurd is this? I like the lights on. I wanna stay up later at night. I don’t wanna have to go to bed when the sun sets. It’s so silly! I mean, all of this is insane.”

Of course she is this stupid. She's the one that brought us Jewish Space Lasers, Gazpacho Police, and Peach Tree Dishes. Her supporters are just as ignorant and worship disinformation. MTG and clones are the future of the red areas of the country.
@windinhishair
Carter was not a good president
@spjennifer
Carter was a good man but not a good President
I disagree. As an "outsider", his lack of Washington connections seemed to hurt his effectiveness, yet he helped broker the peace treaty between Israel & Egypt (and didn't try to take credit).

He told us what to do for energy independence, but electing Reagan derailed that.

Rail all you want about the hostage situation, consider that

• had a sandstorm not affected the helicopters sent as part of a military rescue of them, he might well have won re-election, and

• remember what Reagan['s people?] did in order to get the hostages released?

Note that Reagan is a big step along the Goldwater arc to Gingrich (and thus the Republicans using his list of pejoratives when referring to Democrats, along with "you can't have friends who are Democrats", etc., which sowed the seeds of obstructionist BS and the inability to work with ANYONE to get things done.

And note that Carter did NOT

• push trickle-down economics, the beginning of the huge shift of the tax burden off of the rich,
• get rid of Federal funding for mental health (creating a huge homeless population and asking the police to deal with it),
• etc., etc., etc.
spjennifer · 56-60, T
@SomeMichGuy Don't get me wrong, Carter was a good person but most found him to be too weak on his International Policies, not that Rotten Ronnie was a whole lot better. I believe that Carter would have been seen in a better light if he'd had a second term and we'd all have been better off if Reagan had never been elected! Reagan was the one who started all the "attack ads" during his campaigns.
windinhishair · 61-69, M
@SomeMichGuy I agree with many of your points. It is intstructive to watch his "malaise" speech during his presidency where he proposed to make the US energy independent in ten years. Had his policies been implemented, the US would have achieved that or been very close by 1990.

Reagan committed treason by negotiating with Iran prior to the election to have the hostages released as he took office. You can't run foreign policy and do that when you aren't president.

And you are correct about the Middle East peace agreement.

But Carter was a micromanager and that detracted from his ability to get more things done. His accomplishments stack up well as measured by today's measuring stick, but I was hoping for more. He was a clear choice over Reagan in 1980, but I voted third party that year as I resided in a state that was going to vote for Reagan regardless of my individual vote.
Calling folks like MTG stupid just because they're saying seemingly stupid things seems like it's playing into their shtick at times.

MTG, like Boebert, Trump, Walker, Johnson, Gaetz, Gosar, and others, have done really well with throwing out garbage that echoes with real Americans who are tired of being lectured to by "experts," educated people, and being told their stupid for embracing simple solutions to complex problems.

It's the issue with MAGA at it's heart, imo. Thinking, accepting responsibility, is hard, and it's much more appealing to say F-you, I'm not going to sacrifice even a moment's thought that might inconvenience me when it's easier to blame someone else.
Thinkerbell · 41-45, F
@MistyCee

As usual, Misty, you've overlooked a very significant point.

You and the Democrats in general would have a case if the Democrats hadn't flooded the zone with so much bullsh*t of their own. 🙄

(e.g., "Inflation Reduction Act", among much else)
@Thinkerbell lol. You're looking at other posts as well, i see.

"Flooding the zone with shit", while not my cup of tea, can be really effective, and, that's kind of related to my point about calling MTG stupid for doing it.

I don't think that helps, especially when Dems may have spread their own BS, and people can just shrug and say, I might as well pick one.
spjennifer · 56-60, T
@MistyCee The phrase, "The lesser of 2 evils" comes to mind here 🥴
She's an idiot. Not surprising she says idiotic things.

Bushranger · 70-79, M
An acquaintance of mine here in Australia is an educated man in his 70s, has owned several businesses and had a farm for some time. He has also installed a good sized diesel powered generator at his house because he believes that as Australia moves towards more renewable enegy sources, there will be ongoing and significant blackouts.

Interestingly, he also believes that Trump actually won the last US election and that the Left is preventing a proper investigation.

Unfortunately, it's not just the US that has right wing nut jobs. But I think the US may have the majority of them.
Bushranger · 70-79, M
@spjennifer No, just seems to have swallowed the right wing BS. He was also convinced that Covid could be treated with Hydroxychloroquine, but only in combination with vitamin D. But he's been somewhat silent on that and is vaccinated.
Bushranger · 70-79, M
@spjennifer
I have deleted your comments as I won't have you insulting other members on my post, if you have a pertinent opinion, for or against my OP, feel free to express it, but don't be insulting others.
spjennifer · 56-60, T
@Bushranger His first comment called you a "moron" and it went downhill from there so I deleted them as I won't have that on one of my posts. I never prevent someone from commenting for or against one of my posts but at least try and remain civilized.

Yes. Her district is 76% white, with an 18% college education, and no brain-oriented industries to speak of. Your typical Klan dream district.
spjennifer · 56-60, T
@Northwest Now, now, let's not be racist, Herschel Walker is from Georgia too! 🤪
Northwest · M
@spjennifer She represents the 14th district. Hershel Walker would be lynched there.
spjennifer · 56-60, T
@Northwest Indeed!
Oh my gosh, I do not like her.
redredred · M
Yeah, battery technology is so well developed. It’s not like Teslas and city busses are bursting into flames everywhere and lithium is so plentiful you can just dig it out of the ground practically anywhere.

One would almost think that airlines and common carriers are banning modern batteries from their business.
spjennifer · 56-60, T
@redredred I can easily do that, Surry Nuclear Power Plant, Surry Virginia, December 9th, 1986, 4 killed, National Reactor Testing Station, Idaho Falls, Idaho, January 3rd 1961, 3 killed. No studies have been conducted to determine the later resulting deaths caused by most of the incidents but saying the Nuclear power is without risks is just plain stupid and there have been several others too, here, have a read:

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nuclear_reactor_accidents_in_the_United_States
redredred · M
@spjennifer no industrial site is accident free but the insane fear people have for nuclear energy is a show of brainlessness unmatched. Windmills kill countless migratory birds and not a few of them have collapsed. The materials used to construct them are largely UN-recyclable. Solar panels too defy recycling and don’t last ten years.
spjennifer · 56-60, T
@redredred So, you can't point to one single wind or solar power device causing personal injury in the US, noted 🤪
She's the lady who blamed western wildfires on "Jewish Space Lasers" right?

Yeah, she's that stupid.

Regarding batteries:
Battery storage capacity in the United States more than tripled in 2021, growing from 1,438 MW in 2020 to 4,631 MW, according to the U.S. Energy Information Administration. More than 100 utility-scale projects were brought online last year, the agency said in a July 5 Electricity Monthly Update.
The growth occured as storage use cases have expanded, EIA noted. Batteries have been used to provide ancillary services since 2016 but arbitrage, load management and the consumption of excess renewable generation applications saw “significantly increased levels of participation.”
https://www.utilitydive.com/news/energy-storage-capacity-eia-2021-report/627028/

More:
“Load management was another application that saw a significant increase in battery storage capacity,” the agency added. This technique attempts to flatten a grid’s demand profile, and the use case “saw a 744 MW increase in capacity in 2021, rising from 110 MW in 2020 to 854 MW in 2021,” EIA noted.

Batteries are often developed alongside wind and solar generation, allowing them to soak up clean energy at times when demand is low. More than 93% of the battery capacity added last year was co-located with solar, EIA noted. “This use case gained 1,086 MW of capacity in 2021 and is reflective of the continued industry-wide growth of paired renewable and storage capacity,” the agency said.
spjennifer · 56-60, T
@ElwoodBlues Perhaps those "Jewish Space Lasers" could be used to charge batteries too! oh wait... 🤪
badminton · 61-69, MVIP
@Slade MTG, doing her part to convince the rest of the world that Americans are crazed idiots. Guess what? Sarah Palin is eyeing a comeback in politics!

We get these evil clowns, Trump, MTG, Palin, because intelligent people with serious ideas about public policy are discouraged from participating in American politics.
badminton · 61-69, MVIP
@MistyCee Corporations and billionaires don't want a president or Congress who will limit their power. If a sincere, intelligent person is running for public office with real ideas on public policy, corporations give millions to the opposing candidate.
windinhishair · 61-69, M
@badminton Wouldn't Palin be the most intelligent person around? After all, she reads ALL of the newspapers published. At least she said she did.
@badminton I get blaming corps, and really, the money that lets some folks have more political influence than others, but I'm not sure indicting wealth really helps much, other than maybe to show that American Democracy has always been kind of a sham perpetrated by two sets of economic elites trying to compromise on sharing power by overthrowing a third.

Really, didn't British capitalism lead to the settlement of the US and its rebellion from the British crown? Seems like its always been about money and power, and regardless of the political system, how it's leveraged.

We chose, long before Marx, to adopt a hybridized Democracy/Republic,
Imo, with a lot of hoopla about natural rights and half baked political philosophy, and I think, maybe what we're seeing is the hubris and futility of trying to figure out a compromise and not really being able to revisit it.
FlowersNButterflies · 61-69, F
How anybody can admire her is beyond me. Dumb as a doorknob.
spjennifer · 56-60, T
@FlowersNButterflies Now, now, don't go insulting doorknobs, at least they serve a purpose, she's about as stupid as a rock and even they have a purpose, her, not so much! 🤪
For a certain demographic, being stupid is a trait to be admired...and emulated
zonavar68 · 51-55, M
Solar and wind do only work when there is sun and wind. Batteries are NOT solar and are NOT wind power! They are just energy storage in chemical form. Same as in your car, your phone, your laptop computer, your tablet. I hate MTG but she's technically correct.
spjennifer · 56-60, T
@zonavar68 While she may be "technically correct" that doesn't prevent her comment from being inflammatory and stupid and solely designed to get the base riled up against renewable energy. She is attempting to negate the existence of batteries capable of storing the energy generated by solar and wind, same as fossil fuel powered plants will be useless when fossil fuels run out...
zonavar68 · 51-55, M
@spjennifer That's where nuclear comes in, but our Australian government is too much up the arse of global energy companies and super-scared of nuclear power.
Elessar · 26-30, M
She's not stupid or she wouldn't be there, she's malignant and plays stupid to shield herself from criticism
JaggedLittlePill · 46-50, F
@Elessar Nope she is stupid. She has no idea what she is talking about.

The sessoned republicans are malignant. She is actually this stupid and so is her bff BoBo.

They are stupid enough to go along..it is why they were recruited.

room101 · 51-55, M
This is a trick question, right?
She does this for notoriety. She's one of the most famous people in America because every time she says something stupid, it's widely reported.
spjennifer · 56-60, T
@LeopoldBloom Fair point, guess it's ok to look stupid to be notorious 😃
@spjennifer The problem is that it makes her the face of the GOP.
Ontheroad · M
I often wonder how any single person can be as stupid as MTG. She literally boggles the mind!
spjennifer · 56-60, T
@Ontheroad I've read the term "Sheanderthal" applied to her, it does seem most appropriate! 🤪
zonavar68 · 51-55, M
Most residential premises in Australia don't have any sort of rooftop solar and even more do not have any sort of battery system. It's a case of (a) cost, (b) space and (c) seeing a need for such things.

The companies that install rooftop solar, etc. get to 'trade' the REC's (renewable energy credits) but the end-user (paying for the stuff to be installed) doesn't get any of that 'market benefit'. I don't know if the USA has similar renewable energy system incentive schemes.
SubstantialKick · 31-35, M

@BackyardShaman
First off, she’s actually highly educated with a business degree from UGA which is not a fly by night college, however this does not make her a scientific person. 2nd, she’s putting on an act, with the country girl dumbass behavior. 3rd, since I grew up in Georgia close to Atlanta I can tell you it’s not a deep dark state, Atlanta is more modern than many USA cities and actually very large and made up of people from all over the world. Macon, Savannah and other Georgia cities are similar to Atlanta. So, I hate MTG, but I don’t appreciate you trashing my whole home State on account of one very evil person.
