Is MTG Really this stupid?

Perjury Traitor Greene seems to think that solar and wind energy only work when there's sun and wind, apparently she's never heard of batteries, you mean they don't have batteries in deep, dark Georgia where she's from? Is her brain even capable of keeping her breathing?

“Thank god for air conditioning. Let’s talk about refrigerators. I personally like my refrigerator. I know you all like yours. What about washing machines and dryers? Lord please God don’t make me scrub clothes in a bucket and have to hang them out on a line when we switch over to wind turbines and solar panels,” she said. “I’m gonna be really pissed off about that. I mean, how absurd is this? I like the lights on. I wanna stay up later at night. I don’t wanna have to go to bed when the sun sets. It’s so silly! I mean, all of this is insane.”

Of course she is this stupid. She's the one that brought us Jewish Space Lasers, Gazpacho Police, and Peach Tree Dishes. Her supporters are just as ignorant and worship disinformation. MTG and clones are the future of the red areas of the country.

@windinhishair Gawd help us all if outright idiots like her end up in power! 😖

@spjennifer You guys have some elections coming up. Galvanise your fellow citizens and bloody vote!

None of this "they're all as bad as each other" nonsense. None of this "time for a third party" nonsense. Vote like your lives depend on it. Because they do!
spjennifer · 61-69, T
@room101 You're preaching to the choir, I agree! 😃
windinhishair · 61-69, M
@room101 @spjennifer I've been voting for good governance since the 1970s, and we are falling further behind. But that doesn't mean I should do anything other than continuing to vote the same way, and to try to make a difference on a local level.
room101 · 51-55, M
@windinhishair I was eligible to vote a few years after you and, quite honestly, I also often feel that we are falling behind. But, regardless of that, I still believe in democracy and the democratic process.

Bugs the hell out of me that I can't vote in Spain.
windinhishair · 61-69, M
@room101 We just have to keep voting, and get others who can vote but aren't to cast their votes as well.
spjennifer · 61-69, T
@windinhishair & @room101 I too have been voting since the late 70's and have even voted Republican at times when I couldn't stomach the Democrat candidate (Think Al Gore) and yes, I voted for GW Dumbass 😖. That's all we can do is to vote and hope that enough people with a grain of common sense do the same as we do 🥴
windinhishair · 61-69, M
@spjennifer Until the 2018 election, my ballot was always split between Republicans, Democrats, and third party candidates, depending on the individual and position. When the Republicans went full MAGA, I had to stop voting that way. I have been registered at different times as a Republican, Democrat, and Third Pary member, going back to 1976 when I registered as a Republican to vote against Ronald Reagan in a state primary (he won anyway).
spjennifer · 61-69, T
@windinhishair lol, I actually voted for old Rotten Ronnie the first time around, poor Jimmy wasn't getting it done with the Iranians 🥴
windinhishair · 61-69, M
@spjennifer Hard to fault you there. Carter was not a good president, so I voted third party that election. Ronnie was too far right. The sad thing is today he would be regarded as a communist and way to far to the left for the same positions he took.
spjennifer · 61-69, T
@windinhishair Carter was a good man but not a good President and you're right, that makes me laugh in that the now loonie Right would brand Reagan a Communist or a Socialist at the least 😃
windinhishair · 61-69, M
@spjennifer Carter is by far the best ex-president in our history. His legacy has changed the world and saved many lives, particularly in Africa.
@spjennifer
Gawd help us all if outright idiots like her end up in power!

Uh...MTG *is* in power...
spjennifer · 61-69, T
@SomeMichGuy Well, she's in Congress, imagine how she'd be if the Repugs win in 2024 though 😖
@windinhishair

Carter was not a good president

@spjennifer

Carter was a good man but not a good President

I disagree. As an "outsider", his lack of Washington connections seemed to hurt his effectiveness, yet he helped broker the peace treaty between Israel & Egypt (and didn't try to take credit).

He told us what to do for energy independence, but electing Reagan derailed that.

Rail all you want about the hostage situation, consider that

• had a sandstorm not affected the helicopters sent as part of a military rescue of them, he might well have won re-election, and

• remember what Reagan['s people?] did in order to get the hostages released?

Note that Reagan is a big step along the Goldwater arc to Gingrich (and thus the Republicans using his list of pejoratives when referring to Democrats, along with "you can't have friends who are Democrats", etc., which sowed the seeds of obstructionist BS and the inability to work with ANYONE to get things done.

And note that Carter did NOT

• push trickle-down economics, the beginning of the huge shift of the tax burden off of the rich,
• get rid of Federal funding for mental health (creating a huge homeless population and asking the police to deal with it),
• etc., etc., etc.
spjennifer · 61-69, T
@SomeMichGuy Don't get me wrong, Carter was a good person but most found him to be too weak on his International Policies, not that Rotten Ronnie was a whole lot better. I believe that Carter would have been seen in a better light if he'd had a second term and we'd all have been better off if Reagan had never been elected! Reagan was the one who started all the "attack ads" during his campaigns.
windinhishair · 61-69, M
@SomeMichGuy I agree with many of your points. It is intstructive to watch his "malaise" speech during his presidency where he proposed to make the US energy independent in ten years. Had his policies been implemented, the US would have achieved that or been very close by 1990.

Reagan committed treason by negotiating with Iran prior to the election to have the hostages released as he took office. You can't run foreign policy and do that when you aren't president.

And you are correct about the Middle East peace agreement.

But Carter was a micromanager and that detracted from his ability to get more things done. His accomplishments stack up well as measured by today's measuring stick, but I was hoping for more. He was a clear choice over Reagan in 1980, but I voted third party that year as I resided in a state that was going to vote for Reagan regardless of my individual vote.
