Is MTG Really this stupid?

Perjury Traitor Greene seems to think that solar and wind energy only work when there's sun and wind, apparently she's never heard of batteries, you mean they don't have batteries in deep, dark Georgia where she's from? Is her brain even capable of keeping her breathing?

“Thank god for air conditioning. Let’s talk about refrigerators. I personally like my refrigerator. I know you all like yours. What about washing machines and dryers? Lord please God don’t make me scrub clothes in a bucket and have to hang them out on a line when we switch over to wind turbines and solar panels,” she said. “I’m gonna be really pissed off about that. I mean, how absurd is this? I like the lights on. I wanna stay up later at night. I don’t wanna have to go to bed when the sun sets. It’s so silly! I mean, all of this is insane.”

Yeah, battery technology is so well developed. It’s not like Teslas and city busses are bursting into flames everywhere and lithium is so plentiful you can just dig it out of the ground practically anywhere.

One would almost think that airlines and common carriers are banning modern batteries from their business.

@redredred Interesting then that Texas generates 33% of their power from renewable energy, guess it goes dark there after sunset, do you think it's preferable to use "clean coal" generating power stations?
redredred · M
@spjennifer actually yes, and natural gas and petroleum. But clearly the cleanest most reliable source is nuclear.
spjennifer · 61-69, T
@redredred One can only hope they build a Nuclear power generating plant in your neighbourhood! with coal and petroleum ones as a back up then 😖
redredred · M
@spjennifer I see. You’ve fallen for the anti-nuclear superstition. I hope you end up relying on just wind and solar.
spjennifer · 61-69, T
@redredred Do Chernobyl, Fukushima, Kyshtym, Windscale and 3 Mile Island ring any bells, "superstition" indeed 😖
Graylight · 51-55, F
@redredred You're right! Let's never use the time-tested trial & error method of progress! Let's never see if anything new can work perfectly before even developing it! Anything less than perfection...back to the caves!
@redredred And Tesla's charging stations use the energy provided by the local municipalities, which is mostly comprised of energy produced from burning Fossil fuels.
@spjennifer Texas may not be the best example of a well-run power grid.
spjennifer · 61-69, T
@LeopoldBloom Oh I never said it was well run or any good, I was just using it as an example of the highest percentage of power supplied by renewable energy and it is the State with the highest rate 🤪
redredred · M
@spjennifer Why would you compare our nuclear power generation designs with those designs which are manifestly inferior and dangerous? The only one that matches our designs is Three-mile island where no one was killed or even hurt. TMI operated as designed when it shut itself down. You don’t need to work so hard to demonstrate you ignorance and bias.
redredred · M
@Graylight And let’s never mandate unproven technology when existing technology works so well.
@redredred Unproven technology? You mean like storing the nuclear waste in situ because they never figured out a safe place to put it? But let's not discuss that because it takes away from "it generates heat without fire or flame, and it is beautiful." In case you don't get the quote, that was Jared Harris playing the Valery Legasov character in HBO's "Chernobyl."
spjennifer · 61-69, T
@redredred Are you foolish enough to not think that we are 1 mistake away from being one of them Homer? Dohhh 😖 Yes, maybe our designs are superior but many of our stations are old and how are we storing all the spent fuel?
redredred · M
@spjennifer so, you can’t point to a nuclear accident causing personal injury in the US. Noted
spjennifer · 61-69, T
@redredred I can easily do that, Surry Nuclear Power Plant, Surry Virginia, December 9th, 1986, 4 killed, National Reactor Testing Station, Idaho Falls, Idaho, January 3rd 1961, 3 killed. No studies have been conducted to determine the later resulting deaths caused by most of the incidents but saying the Nuclear power is without risks is just plain stupid and there have been several others too, here, have a read:

redredred · M
@spjennifer no industrial site is accident free but the insane fear people have for nuclear energy is a show of brainlessness unmatched. Windmills kill countless migratory birds and not a few of them have collapsed. The materials used to construct them are largely UN-recyclable. Solar panels too defy recycling and don’t last ten years.
spjennifer · 61-69, T
@redredred So, you can't point to one single wind or solar power device causing personal injury in the US, noted 🤪
