France is in full lockdown again.
The economies are being decimated. Who is going to pay for all that ?
revenant · F
@Elessar there is a lot more in depth analyses to be made but you stick to the most simple answers.
dommagic · M
What do the in depth analysis say? And when you have a simple way that could possibly prevent ANY amount of death why not follow them?@revenant
Elessar · 26-30, M
@revenant Yeah, like on how deeply moronic the entire western society has become. Freedumbs! And now all in lockdown again. But at least we didn't have to wear the muzzle in summer 😀🤦‍♂️

deadgerbil · 22-25
These people will crucify china for failing to contain the virus, yet when asked to wear a mask and socially distance, they cry about their 'freedumbs'.

Sucks that covid just doesn't exclusively affect them tbh.
deadgerbil · 22-25
@TexChik popularity doesn't necessarily correlate to intellectual honesty. My apologies if I came off as a whining snowflake, ma'am.
TexChik · F
@deadgerbil OMG, please. Conservatism is head and shoulders above any lib when it comes to honesty. 🤣🤣🤣 You must have lost your mind.
deadgerbil · 22-25
@TexChik there are some aspects of conservatism that I like, so I'm not entirely writing it off. In this particular context with respect to masks, I can't get behind it.
SteelHands · 61-69, M
The president did the right thing when he suspended all flights between US and China early on.

The Democrats and left leaning press lambasted him and called him racist for doing it and the Democrats did all they could to make the situation worse.

Pelosi went out and encouraged the street celebrations in her state.

The mayor of New York put elderly people that caught the virus into nursing homes.

The left leaning press encouraged "protestors."

Kamala Harris, bafflingly, went on record in an interview saying "the protests (civil unrest) won't and shouldn't stop no matter what.

I just came home from a really nice campaign rally for Trump. A huge pavilion outdoors. They passed out masks and had hand sanitizer stations. Personnel made sure everybody was wearing masks and there were all kinds of people there from young to the elderly.

I've been tested in the last seven days, and know people that have had it and gotten better.

Fear mongering isn't helping anything because it's important that we stay ahead of this thing and if we even slightly think we got it we should check. Then get medical attention right away.

I don't think we can avoid it by hiding in our houses anymore because it's working its way through the population at this point.

All of us of every age and stripe will likely sooner or later have to face this. My daughter's had it and recovered. A positive outlook is almost as important as a good immune system.

Statements like "we are strong" and "we will beat this thing" are not the message we are getting from Biden. The Biden strategy is fear..."Dark winter, we're dying of this" ...

The president and his wife recovered. I hope I do whenever I end up getting it too. I'm being careful, and so should you. Don't touch your face wash hands keep a clean screen and wear a mask around others.

That's the best thing, I think, to do.

So stay strong and be like brave Americans. Don't let the fear or the fear mongering politicians do any more damage than they already have.

I'm voting for Trump.
MarkPaul · 26-30, M
@SteelHands Your cheap school girl insults probably earned you some popularity points... in middle school. It doesn't mean much... even if you're transmitting from Hidin' Sleepy Baby-trump's America.

In any case, playing the "age card" is the ultimate sign of desperation. You are sinking fast, Scooter.

@Confined Yes, the listing absolutely indicates "repertory" disease deaths at 159,486. Can you explain how these data, which the listing clearly indicates are for 2018, apply to covid deaths in 2020?

Loads of Trump supporters on here using increasingly desperate arguments to defend the indefensible. I mean sports leagues have no crowds but Trump rallies are ok? Perhaps a MAGA hat can make you immune and a NY Yankees cap can't.

One argument put forward is the decline in death rate. This is because high risk people are shielding more its not because Covid stopped being deadly.

The lockdown vrs economy arguments are similarly redundant. The economies which are in the best economic health are those with the strictest lockdown rules. There is no good reason for Germany - which got covid early, has higher populalation density than America and shares land borders with many countries - to be doing so much better.

I wonder: Do Trump supporters even really believe their own arguments? Are they prepared to suspend disbelief and forgive any mistakes in defense of their icon?
whowasthatmaskedman · 70-79, M
@Burnley123 They have to believe.. Its an act of faith and America is a deeply religious country out of the big cities.😷
deadgerbil · 22-25
@Burnley123 trumpists seem to be very similar to flat earthers, except a lot more rabid. They use misleading arguments and can't even acknowledge even the most objective pieces of information.

Even definitions of words are used to justify their bad arguments. I had one on here try to play a game of semantics over whether or not masks and social distancing prevent transmission.
MrBrownstone · 46-50, M
What is the survival rate?
QuietEd2019 · 31-35, M
@MrBrownstone medical journals should be enough but you probably need empirical evidence but your attitude towards it is like Trumps so you are likely to get the virus eventually as you probably refuse a mask and are happy to attend close quarters rallies for your idol so when you get it will you believe how debilitating and devastating it can be even if you survive?
MrBrownstone · 46-50, M
@QuietEd2019 once you equate a virus to politicians you lost the argument
QuietEd2019 · 31-35, M
@MrBrownstone I was equating your attitude to a politicians not the virus 😑 nice try but you are clutching at straws

MarkPaul · 26-30, M
They think they are being cool... until the ones who are forced to say goodbye to loved ones via FaceTime because of their contamination. It's like the middle school kids who smoke... until they wake up one day in the future with tubes shoved down their throat helping them to breathe. Then... and only then... they no longer feel cool.

The thing is, at that point... and only then... they acknowledge it wasn't worth it.

Confined · 56-60, M
Covid was a man made virus. It was weaponized. No amount of lockdown or social distencing will ever wipe it out. Even Dr. Death says every person on the face of the planet will eventually get covid 19. Hopefully not all at the same time. There are more then 30 strains, so a vaccine will be of little value. The immunity to one strain only lasts a few months at best.
There is nothing more Trump or dr failure could do.

Elessar · 26-30, M
@TheOneyouwerewarnedabout If you think that NOT testing and ignoring the situation altogether is going to solve things you're really beyond delusional. @justanothername I wont argue with that. I have said before that the way this works may be a way of raising the Average IQ with a cull of the stupid. Who said Darwinism was bunk?😷
justanothername · 51-55, M
@whowasthatmaskedman the only problem is that stubborn conservative Republicans infect everyone around them too.
whowasthatmaskedman · 70-79, M
@justanothername Yes.. Which is why EVERYONE needs to wear a mask. They do help a lot. Particular if both parties are wearing them. Stops them spreading it even if they dont know they have it and stops you getting it.😷

@MrBrownstone Nope it’s right. Reason? Because Trump supporters think covid is a hoax, along with other crazy conspiracy theories stated by Trump and republican media. Which is why I wonder how do they feel when they find out they caught the very virus they thought was a hoax.
MrBrownstone · 46-50, M
@SW-User Let me guess CNN told you
SW-User
@MrBrownstone It’s more of observation rather than watching CNN which I hardly watch anyway. It’s not difficult to realize that what a leader such as a president says holds weight and followers will listen and do or repeat what that leader says which is what Trump supporters are doing.

Trump refuses to wear a mask; his supporters don’t wear a mask, he attacks scientists for contradicting him; they attack scientists for contradicting him, etc. Even in the comments Trump supporters are in denial or make excuses of how bad coronavirus is because Trump is doing the same thing.

The left is beating people up for saying they support the current president and threatening to storm the white house? I'm hearing them threaten even that now?

That's not done in a free society. Those people don't deserve a single vote. Nobody with any common sense would vote for Evil people like that.

@TheOneyouwerewarnedabout excess deaths (i.e. deaths above the numbers expected through other causes) from late Jan thru 3 Oct were 300k (which actually suggests a bit of an undercount on Covid deaths, but let's not get hung up on that) ...the whole "nobody dies of anything else any more" line is nonsense, the 225k Covid deaths are above and beyond the other "normal" causes of death.

Putting it as simply as I can, around 2.8m people die in the US each year, this year it will be over 3m.

The 2.8m will still die from other causes, but on top of that there will be an additional 250k+ due to Covid.

Do you understand?
