Who gives a shit about a balloon?

How many drones, planes, and satellites does the US have surveilling other countries again? 🤔
redredred · M
The point is that Joe Stupid is a Chinese asset and he proved it by letting the close observation balloon finish its mission before he destroyed it
redredred · M
@PicturesOfABetterTomorrow Again, it’s not about my feelings. I’m simply holding you to your claim that Joe Stupid needs DOD concurrence to respond to a foreign threat. It’s that your position?
@redredred This is entirely about your feelings. To the point you are putting words in my mouth to push your bullshit narrative. Not playing your games.
redredred · M
@PicturesOfABetterTomorrow You do not have the right to color my comments to create a straw argument you can defeat. This is not about my feelings at all. If you can try to be honest, a tough assignment for a leftard, I know, you’ll see all I have done is ask reasonable questions and make objective observations. My feelings don’t enter into it.
BlueVeins · 22-25
The real answer to this is that those other countries should be concerned too. IDK, it's by no means the end of the world, but it is a legitimate national security concern. We don't want them checkin' out all our air bases and nuclear sites if we can help it.
BlueVeins · 22-25
@LvChris If it wasn't a threat, the Chinese probably wouldn't have bothered sending it. And yeah, the military doesn't actually want a military scandal where a bunch of white suburbanites or whatever got killed pretty much directly because of their own actions. And also... civilian lives are national security.
Being outraged by this one, but not all the ones before? Being concerned about this one, but not all the ones before? Nah, fam. No one gave a shit until it was this one. No one even cared enough to know.
Yeah, that's sort of how the news works. There's a ton of shit going on at any given time; it's impossible to keep up with all of it, all of the time. If your point is that news coverage, broadly, isn't calculated to be proportionate to risk to human life and well-being, then yeah, based, but that was never in dispute.

@LvChris Vague gesturing to you too ❤️
nudistsueaz · 61-69, F
It has nothing to do with the balloon. It's about our air space. Remember when China shot down a passenger plane for entering their space? All aboard were killed.
Scarfface · 46-50, M
I think it is something to worry about, it could of been carrying anything, a weapon, a virus or anything else. I think it could of been dealt with earlier but I'm sure the military and the powers took everything in to account.
sunsporter1649 · 70-79, M
@TheOneyouwerewarnedabout Flights leaving daily to your workers paradise.

whats that even mean?

oh bad man pointed out USA agreession around the world.. he must be a china sympathizer?

pft.
sunsporter1649 · 70-79, M
@TheOneyouwerewarnedabout Flights leaving daily to your workers paradise.

Morvoren · F
A very valid point. The US spies on its allies more than it is subjected to by China, never mind actual adversaries.

But you try telling these asshats that.
@Scarfface China launched 5 spy satellites in November and it didn't even make the news but people are freaking out over a glorified Re/Max balloon. lol
Scarfface · 46-50, M
@PicturesOfABetterTomorrow Google earth would show more info 🤣
@Scarfface Quite possibly.
revenant · F
Why is it called "balloon" and not surveillance apparatus ?😏
sunsporter1649 · 70-79, M
@revenant for the same reason pedophiles are called "minor attracted persons"
ChipmunkErnie · 70-79, M
Well, not knowing what was attached to it, I can't say. I do know that during WWII the Japanese did essentially the same thing with balloons, except their had bombs attached, and I believe there were plans to send some with weaponized biologicals like plague. So, you never know what might be floating up there.
TequilaMockingbird · 26-30, F
@ChipmunkErnie Yea I get your point, better to be on the safe side
revenant · F
It shows weakness.
MasterLee · 56-60, M
@revenant exactly
@redredred
The point is that Joe Stupid is a Chinese asset and he proved it by letting the close observation balloon finish its mission before he destroyed it
@revenant
It shows weakness.
Hmmm. And what would people say if it had happened before??

China Spy Balloons Crossed Into U.S. 3 Times During Trump Administration
February 5, 2023
Suspected spy balloons from China crossed into the continental United States at least three times during the Trump administration, according to a statement Saturday by the Department of Defense citing an unnamed “senior defense officIal.”
“Chinese balloons briefly transited the continental United States at least three times during the prior administration,” the statement noted. Associated Press also reported that one other balloon crossed into the U.S. earlier in the Biden administration.
DOD release mentioning 3 others https://www.defense.gov/News/News-Stories/Article/Article/3288543/f-22-safely-shoots-down-chinese-spy-balloon-off-south-carolina-coast/
Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-Ga.) falsely claimed that Trump would never have allowed a China spy balloon from reaching the U.S.
“Would Trump have let China fly a spy balloon over our country?” Rep. Jim Jordan asked on Twitter.
Craig Singleton, a senior fellow at the Foundation for Defense of Democracies, told AP that Chinese surveillance balloons were sighted several times in the past five years. Some of them have been spotted near U.S. military bases in Hawaii, he said, though he did not specify when.
Trump himself joined the call for the Biden administration to destroy the most recent balloon in a message Friday on Truth Social, saying: “SHOOT DOWN THE BALLOON.” But he did not discuss his own administration’s experience with China spy balloons.
Matt85 · 36-40, M
That's exactly what I said to my son when he asked for a Peppa Pig balloon.
BeachGirl47 · 26-30, F
We have to wait to see if the give a report on what the baloon was carrying. Weather equipment like china says or spy equipment
TequilaMockingbird · 26-30, F
@BeachGirl47 We’ll it definitely wasn’t a weather balloon from the sound of it
Funny how that works.

And since they have been left alone that also means DOD has already determined they are not a threat.
@sunsporter1649 So you can't handle statistics?
I'm sorry to hear that your tiny mind is unable to process even the most basic numbers. Tell us though, is ignorance bliss???
sunsporter1649 · 70-79, M
@ElwoodBlues G.I.G.O.
@sunsporter1649 Another red herring? You are too generous!!
LOL. That's like saying who cares if there's a burglar in your house? No big deal while they steal your belongings. Just sit there and do nothing while they ransack your place and wait until they are done before calling the police.

What do you suppose happens when US spy craft is identified over another country's airspace? They take action to shoot it down immediately.
gamingnerd · 26-30, M
prob millions of them if i had to guess
@sunsporter1649 And of course you never miss a chance to be a racist fuckwad.
sunsporter1649 · 70-79, M
@PicturesOfABetterTomorrow And what else did the tooth fairy tell you?
@sunsporter1649 I forgot. Reality doesn't matter to your cult.
SinlessOnslaught · 26-30, M
I have drones, planes, and satellites all searching for that balloon I lost.
SinlessOnslaught · 26-30, M
@TequilaMockingbird That MY balloon was shot?
TequilaMockingbird · 26-30, F
@SinlessOnslaught Yea…. Sorry dude
SinlessOnslaught · 26-30, M
@TequilaMockingbird The green one with a Doom Eternal balloon weight?
CassandraSissy · 26-30, TVIP
Hmmmm...there's a scene in 'Wakanda Forever' where they are discussing the implications (ie, military) for Wakanda having their precious metal all to themselves....and the Queen of Wakanda states that they're just saying that because they haven't got it !

Says it all really....

To translate, sweetie, and sorry for being generalised, China and Russia always pretend that something never happened...and America just get jealous of the grass being greener on the other side and play the 'Implications for the whole western world' trip to get some of the toys from their neighbours...

Get used to that rhetoric and you'll be fine!

😉
redredred · M
@PicturesOfABetterTomorrow yes and in the past it was dealt with without letting it complete its mission. And, again, how was this detailed determination made? @PicturesOfABetterTomorrow @PicturesOfABetterTomorrow @PicturesOfABetterTomorrow
@redredred People who know what they are doing get to make decisions. That means, not you.
@redredred Another part of the calculation that seems to have totally escaped you is by destroying it that sends a message to the world that American air assets are now fair game.
redredred · M
@PicturesOfABetterTomorrow I’m not sure how that’s true but , So Joe Stupid shouldn’t have destroyed it? Find a position you like and stick with it.
SteelHands · 61-69, M
Point to point line of sight or IR data link is the replacement to microfilm or codex as the preferred means of unrecorded smuggling of classified information.

You just point the antenna and within a millisecond a terrabyte of data is securely sent to the recieving recording device floating above and nobody's the wiser.

No arp records. No physical contact between agencies. A perfectly safe smuggling op.
Majorsite · 61-69, M
I only worry about 99 Luft balloons, Floating in the summer sky !
Majorsite · 61-69, M
@Majorsite What's Nina doing now ?

It was a very smexy balloon 🎈
@Fishy Chinese balloons love you long time.

@Fishy It was a bit flabby.
Fishy · F
@BohemianBoo omg 😂
4meAndyou · F
The United States might be hypocritical in objecting to blatant foreign surveillance of it's nuclear weapons sites, but they do have the right to object to foreign air craft inside their own air space. Not all countries are blameless in their use of drones.

Dlrannie · 31-35, F
So far there is absolutely no evidence that it isn’t a Weather Balloon as China claims
Dlrannie · 31-35, F
@MarkPaul Points of reason are not factual evidence - oh I haven't lied merely stated what China had said.
MarkPaul · 26-30, M
@Dlrannie Well, in that case, I am merely stating what knowledgeable sources are saying. Points of logic and reason are the foundation for evidence which is being collected as we write.
sunsporter1649 · 70-79, M
@Dlrannie the chicoms don't get The Weather Channel?
MarkPaul · 26-30, M
Well, literally everyone is spying on everyone. But, that's not the point now, is it?
MarkPaul · 26-30, M
@TequilaMockingbird Well, I wouldn't necessarily say that. But, the balloon isn't giving them any information that the COVID vaccine implanted chips aren't revealing to Bill Gates who is giving his data over to China in exchange for... <screeching halt sound> Wait, does this conspiracy theory even make any sense?
TequilaMockingbird · 26-30, F
@MarkPaul You’re not supposed to talk about that 🤫
MarkPaul · 26-30, M
@TequilaMockingbird It shows understanding.
I’m thinking there’s a fortune inside it that says “lol made you shoot it down!”
TequilaMockingbird · 26-30, F
@BiasForAction lmaooo 😂😂
Shhhhhhh! It's ok when WE do it!
TequilaMockingbird · 26-30, F
@BohemianBoo Oh yea I forgot lol
@BohemianBoo And it's OK when it happens under Trump!!

Nobody cares. If it was related to anything important, nobody is saying that.
America has no context. Therefore you aren't at war. Just a set of unrelated Booooom noises. Huh,? Nothing. Shhhhh.
