Hands down it was The Steve Allen Show on NBC which aired Sunday nights opposite Ed Sullivan.
From Wikipedia - - Allen's approach to television comedy influenced later generations of late-night hosts. David Letterman cited Allen as a major influence and incorporated variations of several of Allen's television stunts into Late Night and the Late Show. Allen himself noted the similarities and said that Letterman regularly acknowledged their origin. Johnny Carson also credited Allen with establishing elements of the late-night television format

@rinkydinkydoink hevwas great but Ernue Kovacs was the innovator, the greater user of the new technology. The Today show ancestors who led the way gor news broadcasting.

Just a wee bit before my time but, after coming back from Wikipedia and its write-up on his early TV shows, it looks like I missed out on a ton of great comedy.
The early Today Show with Dave Garroway and Frank Blair were big influences, too :D

I liked the Chevy commercials - especially when the new season on Bonanza started because they'd run one or two featuring the Corvettes :D

I watched TV LAND on the Big dish as a kid , Hazel, Perry Mason , Father knows best
cherokeepatti · 70-79, F
@TexChik I liked Perry Mason. Was watching it when I was 3 years old and learning some things from it. Like a good way to get murdered is to try to blackmail someone or journalist digging into a high-powered person’s background. And the meaning of being “framed”. My sister framed me for breaking all the eggs one afternoon. I had been upstairs in the attic taking a nap (one room had a bed and window in it). I woke up and went outside to see what was happening. She seemed like she was waiting for me and ran up to me and told me to hold the empty egg basket while she went inside. So I did it, I was 3 years old. The next thing I know she was coming back outside with my aunt who was glaring at me. She asked me why I broke all the eggs and whipped my butt even after I tried telling her I had just woke up from a nap. We had about 100 hens and sold the eggs for grocery money. I knew how evil my sister was then. And a few days later I was watching Perry Mason and they were talking about someone being framed for something that they didn’t do.

No, I'm not old enough to have seen it in the first run, but I would come running when it came on.

Pretty much dictated to by my big sister. Towards the end of it's TV run, I think I'm right in saying, that 'The X Files' were on on a Sunday at 9pm (My sister's fav) and, straight after that, was '24'.
Was that groundbreaking or what?!? It had everything! Action, suspense, drama. Wonderful. I was way too young to be watching it but I used to! She'd videotape them and watch them later, with me.
No wonder I ended up a bit odd!
"Dam it, Chloe!"
Happy days!

Space Ghost! I saw the commercial trailers but wasn’t allowed to watch it because it was too scary!
Picklebobble2 · 61-69, M
The Tomorrow People. The original series.
1973 - 1979 in the UK.
Difficult to explain who the characters were and what they were about but was a fascinating mix of 'the best of humanity', science fiction and 'evil' in both human and alien form.
Great storylines and worth your time if you find it out there.

Apart from cartoons we had on VHS or watched either on Saturday mornings or on Cartoon Network, I watched whatever my family put on. At some point it was M.A.S.H. and I enjoyed it enough to not want to miss an episode. We also watched Police Academy with my brother every summer. When I was a teen, I liked House MD. Of course, Agatha Christie's Poirot with David Suchet was a must and I still love it to this day.
