@SnickersDOM that series took me on a long journey. I knew it was partly based on reality so then I read the books written by Gersld Durrelll to try to get closer to reality Then I learned that even those books were fictionalized. I dug around and found someone else's book that was an attempt at actual reality. The Durrells of Corfu, by Michael Haag. Warning: it's not as feel-good as the TV show, but I'm still glad I read it. I recommend doing what I did. Read Gerald's books about Corfu and then read Haag's book.

@Poppies What is it about?

@JohnnySpot about an eccentric English family (mother-headed) who move to a Greek Island a few years before the start of WWIi. Much much natural beauty. Comedy. Drama. Lots of animals. (One son grows up to be a famous zookeeper and the other grows up to be a famous novelist). Inspired by true story but as I notied above, there was a lot of fictional embroidery, especially in the TV show.

@Quimliqer I read that McMurtry wrote Lonesome Dove with Robert Duvall in mind as Gus. It was a perfect fit.
