There are no meds for it. It’s for you to tackle.

Umm.. I don't think there is any, other than some self-medication, but anything that helps with anxiety will help I think?
thewindupbirdchronicles · 46-50, M
@Science78 Strikes me of agoraphobia, coupled with anxiety. Sorry if you took my comment dismissive, it wasn't meant to be.

@thewindupbirdchronicles All good bro

Anti anxiety meds but try EMDR therapy if you can get that. I had a bad spider phobia and it helped no end. Still don't like them but it's not interrupting my life now 😊
Carazaa · F
@SW-User EMDR is great for phobias.
SW-User
@Carazaa yes, it was very weird and I thought how the hell is this going to help but it did do definitely worth it ❤️

Magnesium supplements and Valerian root extract pills. Maybe it's just placebo but it helps a bit with anxiety.
I used the pill once when I wasn't supposed to because they're basically sedatives to but I'm damn glad I did.

You shouldnt be turning to drugs, face it, I got over a fear fairly recently
BigBulge · 41-45, M
@Rolexeo That might be true in some cases. However, in my case, I was having panic attacks whenever I entered a supermarket or drug store, places I had been patronizing thousands of times. No explanation for the cause. My doctor put me on clonazepam, and the panic attacks stopped immediately. Agoraphobia (fear of leaving the house) stopped too. Clonazepam is addictive, but considering the alternative, it's a real life saver.
Depends on the context of the phobia?
@Science78 How often does the phobia impact your daily life?
Science78 · 36-40, M
@Notladylike Im always afraid I will puke or see someone else puke. I dont go to bars or parties.
@Science78 You probably need therapy for that. Medication can be helpful for things like fear of flying that have a specific context. Sounds difficult to have that everyday
Grateful4you · M
This probably would require a psych. professional intervention rather than one for physical health needs.
Historically, the Benzodiazipines were found to be effective, unfortunately, they are horribly addictive, moreso than herion, going through "cold turkey" withdrawal from the "Benzo's" can be life threatening.
Current best practice leans more toward the anti-depressants which are much less prone to addiction. But again, please seek the help of a psychology clinician.

mushrooms
Many people’s knowledge of psilocybin – the primary psychoactive ingredient found in so-called “magic mushrooms” – is limited to its use as a recreational drug and perhaps its association with 1960s counterculture. But over the past 20 years, a growing body of research has shown that psilocybin has significant potential in the treatment of a number of mental and behavioral health disorders.

My opinion, Meds are for the ones who are not willing to face their own reality. They are following what others tell them to be. It's to keep one with a small mind and a small heart. In General, not in all cases.
basilfawlty89 · 31-35, M
@cycleman and you got your degree in psychiatry or psychology where again,

@cycleman same place I got my nuclear physics degree, yet oddly they don't allow me to give others advice on nuclear weaponry. Strange that.

I would caution you that clonazepam is addictive, but compared to not being able to leave the house, it was a real life saver for me.

Maybe the one(s) your mental health professional suggests..?
Crazywaterspring · 61-69, M
None. I deal with them.
Love and courage
GuyWithOpinions · 31-35, M
You dont need medication. You need to face your fears one small step at a time and conquer them so you no longer feel fear towards them.
meJess · F
Morphine or cocaine depending on activity level expected. They may not be classed as meds exactly.
Carazaa · F
Good nutrition, Omega 3, fish, complete amino acids, meats, nuts, etc.
Im not an expert on meds but I heard some herbal teas and certain music helps?
SW-User
Is there a med for fear of people ?
smileylovesgaming · 31-35, F
I don't take any medicine
Meds mask the phobia at best.
Fluffybull · F
Try hypnotherapy.

Science78 · 36-40, M
@OogieBoogie Can i PM it? Its to embarrassing.
OogieBoogie · F
@Science78 no, no . That's ok.
I understand.
I wish you luck finding a solution.
Ive had a phobia, and they're awful.

basilfawlty89 · 31-35, M
Therapy would be needed ideally for a long term solution, but in the meantime if it's severe, speak to your psychiatrist or physician about benzodiazepines.
bijouxbroussard · F
Not sure. And I imagine it depends on the phobia. Anti-anxiety meds may help with social phobias, but not with a fear of heights.
