This probably would require a psych. professional intervention rather than one for physical health needs.
Historically,the Benzodiazipines were found to be effective, unfortunately, they are horribly addictive, moreso than herion, going through "cold turkey" withdrawal from the "Benzo's" can be life threatening.
Current best practice leans more toward the anti-depressants which are much less prone to addiction. But again, please seek the help of a psychology clinician.
