Do you buy spring water, or drink tap water?

I buy spring water occasionally but mostly drink tap. However today it tastes really off, and like a slight pipe taste. I think I'm going to buy more spring water.

I only buy bottled water when I forgot to take something to drink when I'm out and about. At home I mostly drink tap water and rooibos "tea".
sarabee1995 · 26-30, F
For the longest time I just drank filtered tap water. But now we buy spring water. A part of me thinks it's a waste, but she likes it. 🤷‍♀
KiwiBird · 36-40, F
@sarabee1995 Yes a waste and bad for the planet. The things we do for Love ❤ 😁

Tap water. If I need bottled water away from home, it's the cheapest on the shelf, not a branded 'rip off'. I always ask for tap water in eateries.
@FreddieUK The tao water in the states is anywhere from decent to near toxic, deoending on the area, too many municipalities either cannot afford to treat their water to EPA regulatory standards, or in Flint, Michigan's case, they do not care, the EPA does not enforce it.
FreddieUK · 70-79, M
@NativePortlander1970 That's terrible for an advanced country. So sorry that such a basic necessity is in the hands of business rather than the public domain.
@FreddieUK It's all about war money for profit, nothing for us taxpayers. Llok up Eisenhower's speech about the military industrial complex sometime.

I have a Waterdrop RO system..
Then one line goes to the fridge ice maker and water dispenser, which also has a filtration system onboard..
and then for my coffee pot water and water for the pets, I fill a Brita filtering pitcher from the RO unit faucet..
Both ways are double filtration

Tap water hasn’t tasted right since the mid 90s. I drink bottled water, and so do our dogs. Avoids the whole ‘is there a current boil order or not’ issue that comes up now and then.
KiwiBird · 36-40, F
Neither....
I catch my own rainwater.
The tap water here is what they call "hard"

Hard water has high levels of dissolved minerals, mainly calcium and magnesium, picked up as water travels through rock like limestone, causing limescale buildup in pipes/appliances, making soap less effective, but also providing some essential minerals for health, with hardness measured by mineral concentration (mg/L). While it creates household cleaning challenges and potential appliance damage

Apart from the toilets and outside taps I run my entire house on rainwater.
emmasfriend · 46-50, F
The tap water here is very hard and sometimes seems to have a taste to it.
So I bought a filter.
I add Highland Spring to my glass of whisky.
BlobbyMcBlobface · 100+, M
Mainly mineral water but I do have a filter to filter tap water and get rid of the bad taste.
fun4us2b · M
I have a large brita thing - it does help with the pipe taste.
DallasCowboysFan · 61-69, M
@fun4us2b I have one of those and the water is crystal clear after it is filtered.
ArishMell · 70-79, M
Tap water. If I am going anywhere and wish to take water with me on the journey, I fill a bottle from the tap.

If I buy a soft drink while away from home, it will be a fruit-flavoured one of some sort.

On long drives I carry the makings for hot drinks but this still uses water from the tap.
Yourbeau · M
I only drink tap water but if it’s bottled, mineral water only. Most bottled water in North America is stripped clean and no minerals 🤷🏼‍♂
whowasthatmaskedman · 70-79, M
Tap..Our tap water is better than spring water..I refill a couple of big bottles and keep them in the fridge..😷
Nanori · F
Tap water in my city comes from a spring there's also a spring nearby I sometimes go to get water from.
@Nanori It's like a protein shake
Nanori · F
@SinlessOnslaught come here I'll show u how it's done 😶
@Nanori Can I help? 😃
twiigss · M
Spring water is good. I was drinking aquafina which is purified water, and apparently because of how purified water is made, makes a person pee more.
FreeorLonely · 51-55, F
I buy water because we’re on a well and the water has too much iron in it.
I have a filter machine that filters the water from the taps in my kitchen. 🙏🏼
Hireath · 36-40, M
I have a filter jug
I fill my big old jugs at a filtered water source that's free to everyone.
Lugwho · 61-69, M
I drink tap water. I might occasionally buy a bottle of water if I'm out.
BittersweetPotato · 31-35, F
I use filters for tap water.
BittersweetPotato · 31-35, F
@Nanori *blushes* I have a superior potato brain, so that doesn’t come as surprise to potato 🥔🥴

SchoolBelle · 61-69, F
Both.

And I can't remember why.

Must be something in the water.
AdaXI · T

Tap water, always. My country has arguably the best tap water in the world. However, spring water sales have become stratospheric recently.
Thevy29 · 41-45, M
The Tap water is alright here. Well with a Pura-tap filter on it.
My town water is horrible

I buy alkaline electrolyte water
lissah · 36-40, F

ronisme1 · 61-69, M
Bottled water . Tap water for cooking
heavyone2 · 61-69, M
Coors,,,, "the only filtered water"......
Do you have a well or provided ("city") water?
@Coralmist
Do you know what kind of pipes you have?

Copper is best and actually helps kill things. You might have galvanized.

You shouldn't have lead, but you could check your water provider's records to see what is supposed to be your connection to the water supply.

Others in your area likely have had issues, so I'd ask around. You might need to filter it.
Coralmist · 41-45, F
@SomeMichGuy I'll have to see what kind of pipes , I'm not sure. Thanks
@Coralmist If you look, copper v galvanized is easy; galvanized steel is greyish, copper you likely know (though it can have a dull patina, but never greyish).
Musicman · 61-69, M
Definitely bottled water. Our water here has a very high sulfur content.
Musicman · 61-69, M
@NativePortlander1970 Yes! It really didn't take long to pay for itself then put a profit in our pocket.
@Musicman Renting anything is a scam, specially housing.
Musicman · 61-69, M
@NativePortlander1970 Sadly I agree with you.
I have a 22 cup countertop brita, I drink on average of two gallons of water every three days, buying bottled water would be expensive for me, a three paxk of filters costs $14 and I change them out every six to eight weeks, or when I notice the water doesn't taste as fresh, putting in a new filter is massively immediately noticable.
