I can't have most of my fave toppings anymore. I used to love buttered toast with strawberry jam.

Oh my God!! Toast is my specialty!

But in the toaster oven and not in the toaster. Best made with thin sliced, fresh Italian or French bread.

Toast one side only (i.e. one side up in the toaster oven).
In the mean time, make a brew of brown sugar, butter, a touch of water and a drop of vanilla or lemon or almond extract. Blended into a sludge with the help of the microwave, then onto a shallow plate.

After one side of the bread toasted, remove it from the toaster oven and lay the untoasted side of the bread flat in the sugar-butter-etc. sludge for a second or two, long enough to coat the soft bread with the delicious sludge mix.

Then return the breads to the toaster oven, wet side up this time, and bake or broil to fuse the sweet sludge and bread together, until crispy. ,

When I could have toast, I loved Welsh Rarebit on it.

I usually want toast to be pretty simple. Just butter.

When I was a kid I liked butter, cinnamon and sugar.

Now I like avocado, feta, sprouts and crushed red pepper!

Blueberry jam. Has always been my favorite, since I was a little kid.

Lots of butter though.

Sometimes I might add some cream cheese if I have it. That's with the blueberry jam and butter.

Note: I need extra calories. I have a high metabolism.

Baked beans with all the tomato sauce washed off,replaced by Worcestershire sauce and re-heated.

Butter on its own, or butter and Marmite (yeast extract). Delicious!
