Nah. I had enough public spotlight to last me. There was a point when women would tell my wife at work, "I woke up with your husband in bed this morning" because they had their clock radios set to the news. And once a collegemate said "I was driving in the middle of the Mojave Desert and heard you on the radio. Just can't get away from you."
dancingtongue · 80-89, M
@swirlie Nope. A PR guy, who got shoved in front of microphones to answer questions on crises.
swirlie · 31-35, F
@dancingtongue
That must of been funny to listen to you bullshitting your way through those Q & A sessions! 🤣
dancingtongue · 80-89, M
@swirlie I had credibility because I didn't lie, and no BS. Spin things to give the most favorable explanation, yes. But factually correct. Was a different time, and working with objective news media who knew their jobs, and were invested in their own ethical guidelines as well.

Nitedoc · 51-55, M
To quote the late great American author Mark Twain: I’ve been poor and I’ve been rich and I tell you, rich is a lot better!
samueltyler2 · 80-89, M
I had my minutes of fame, it was "interesting."
helenS · 36-40, F
@samueltyler2 ... when playing the trombone, right? 🎼🎶
LordShadowfire · 46-50, M
@samueltyler2 I'm curious. I can put myself in the shoes of a famous person to some extent, but I'd like to know more.
samueltyler2 · 80-89, M
@LordShadowfire i was misquoted and miscast in several movies and documentaries. One nice experience was meeting with Hilary Clinton. Many people truly hate her, i found her incredibly smart and charming.
Poppies · 61-69, F
The more I learn about the lives of famous people, the happier I am not to be one.
Harmonium1923 · 56-60, M
@Poppies Seriously!
LordShadowfire · 46-50, M
@Poppies I know, right? Like, I kind of want to be well known, but I also like my privacy, and with my temper, I would quickly become one of those infamous celebrities who are known for being "unreasonable" and having "meltdowns".
Pretzel · 70-79, M
I would NEVERRRRRRRRRRRR want to be famous.

Rich, on the other hand...
Iwillwait · M
@Pretzel Agreed
@Pretzel Yes ! The wealth without the fame would be pretty awesome
Thevy29 · 41-45, M
Sometimes I wish was successful enough that I could have retired by now.
ninalanyon · 70-79, T
@samueltyler2 There's no shortage of things to do. I did think I'd be bored when I retired but discovered that I don't need to be doing something 'productive' all the time. I can just appreciate the weather, the flowers just emerging after the freezing winter, the sun on the fjord, the noise the broken ice makes as it flows, etc.
samueltyler2 · 80-89, M
@ninalanyon i was responding b to a 40 year old!
ninalanyon · 70-79, T
@samueltyler2 It's never too early to start appreciating the things that one day you'll be too old to enjoy. A lot of us put things off for too long on the grounds we need to save more money, climb a career ladder, etc.

At least that' my personal experience.
Harmonium1923 · 56-60, M
@DancingStarGoddess Depends on the moment?
@Harmonium1923 came "sort of" close, in my younger days, but also i've always wanted to do things that brought the sort of perks that come with it, but not the attention... i'd want to be as anonymous as possible. i can sing, but have always wanted to be a background singer... when i still had the nimbleness of hand, i wanted to play as part of a full orchestra, the art i do, i make under another name. even the modeling i did, i used another name. sure it was my face, body etc but i didn't like what came with it. For me it was always something beautiful i did for others to enjoy and then i went back to the drawing board. The attention gained, especially lots of it always makes me very uncomfortable. i am not sure i could handle such things when i am such a lover of peace and solitude. lol.
DancesWithWolves · 56-60, M
I wish I was famous
smileylovesgaming · 31-35, FVIP
No I wouldn't want to be famous
Longpatrol · 31-35, M
Sure but it's not the Hollywood type of fame.

Would like to be famous for my quality rather just because I'm famous if that makes sense. Like Salk and Curie type fame rather than Madonna and Kim K.
CleverGirl · 26-30, F
I can do without fame.

Had a few minutes in the sun. Fame can be a real pita.
ScreamingFox · 41-45, F
I don't want to be famous, but I wish I had a foot in the industry in a creative way
Ferric67 · M

To be famous

I do not like attention
eyeno · M
Famous...

Nah, I’d rather be known deeply by a few than recognized by many.

Peace over attention, always.
moonlightlullaby · 46-50, F
@mindstruggle Beautiful answer. Me too. 🩷
Thrust · 56-60, M
Infamous would be better!
BillyMack · 46-50, M
I wish I had enough money to live in a small trailer on 100 acres of land.

So whatever that gets me.
Justmeraeagain · 56-60, F
I would hate fame
BlueVeins · 26-30
I don't want to be famous. I fear the person I would become. I would like to be important though.
Musicman · 61-69, M
When I was younger I would have loved to have been a rockstar 😎
ThaiGirl · 26-30, F
Millionaire under the radar 😊
exexec · 70-79, C
I had a bit of fame as an athlete in a small town, and that was more than enough for me. I'm happy being off the radar.
LordShadowfire · 46-50, M
Fame is weird. People think just because they know your name and your face, they're entitled to run up to you in public and scream your name at you. And if you're anything but nice to them, they tell all their friends what a jerk you are.

What I'd like is not to be necessarily name and face famous, but have my work known. I've written a number of short stories, and I'd like to publish them under pseudonyms.
FreddieUK · 70-79, M
I've done small radio presentation jobs and that was fun, but taught me that actually I was happier being unknown.
HumanEarth · F
I wish Google and government would stay out our lives. I like the low profile life
RebelRaven · 51-55, F
I would love the money only, I don’t like people.
PatientlyWaiting25 · 46-50, F
I'd end up in all the magazines because paparazzi snapped me looking like crap. It's a lot of effort being famous, trying to keep people interested. I'd rather just fly under the radar instead.
moonlightlullaby · 46-50, F
Never. I enjoy my solitude too much amongst other things. I couldn't breathe like that.
I’ve never wished I was famous. I like being anonymous.
Sutten · 36-40, F
I prefer staying under the radar.
SkeetSkeet · 100+, F
For the money
lissah · 36-40, F
No i wouldn't want to be famous to be watched and judged by others for all my actions. No thanks.
Munumbis · 46-50, M
Seems like fame ruins lives.
DeWayfarer · 61-69, M
Never in the spotlight. One of the reasons why I never would be active in politics as well.

Even been uncomfortable with public speaking or even playing music in public.

Though I done a tiny bit of both and had recommendations in both.
Younameit · F
No. I absolutely dislike the attention. If I could have a superpower it would be the invisibility one.
CrazyMusicLover · 31-35
The only way I'd want to be famous is that people would only know my pseudonym and a mask, not my real name and my real face. I would never want to lose an option to get lost in a crowd.
MasterLee · 56-60, M
Alteady famous. Just prefer anonymity now.
SouthernGuy1987 · 36-40, M
Prefer my privacy and staying under the radar 👏
Blondily · F
Im too private a person to be in a situation like that. Too much pressure from the whole world to look and be perfect. Id only last a day and seek refuge in a cave never to be seen again.
Ferise1 · 46-50, M
I would like the money
