What’s the longest you got grounded for

From the time I turned 14 til I turned 18

I was given hidings rather than grounded

1 month with a sore butt too

For a weekend last year for missing the last train home with my friend.

A couple of weeks ago I had to stay in at Lunch time at school and run 20 laps in the gym hall then mop some of the floor.
I swore at a girl who was being mean to others 🥴

I never got grounded growing up

There was maybe 2 or 3 times I was grounded for maybe a week. I'd say the worst had to be near the end of when I was in 11th grade. There were these 4 tests you had to take and pass, to become a senior. If you failed any of these tests, you would be held back. So 11th grade comes and I've already passed the math, english, forget what the 3rd test was, and failed the social studies test 3 times. So at the end of it all they tell me, we're going to hold you back, but.... you can attend summer school, and try to pass the test then. If you fail there, you're still in 11th grade.

So I want to say I put a self imposed punishment on myself and instead of having a glorious summer vacation from school, I did the summer school thing, took the test, only this time, I missed 3 questions, allowed to miss 3, so I passed and became a senior the following school year. Not being held back was more important to me, and I wanted school to be done with.

I guess kinda what made up for it all was the fact I was in a work study program. Basically if you took Marketing 1 in 11th grade, had a job for X amount of time, and if you took Marketing 2 the following year, you could enroll in the work study program which I did, and only had 3 classes in 12th grade, every single day.

So I'd come in to guitar class, go to english class next, and then marketing 2 and it didn't even matter if I worked that day or not, I was out and driving myself over to Video Game Masters. It was a store that sold computer games. I remember at the time they were selling Ultima 1, I wanted it so bad but just didn't have it in me to pay $60 for it. Got the game now off of GOG and am glad I never got it. It's a very difficult game, and the controls are very odd to me.

I never got grounded growing up. But I was also severely sheltered so I never had privileges to begin with. It was literally school then home for me without a home phone to even reach out to anyone. No extracurriculars either. Now that I think about it, maybe all I knew was being grounded 24/7 🎻

Not sure. It was around my 10th birthday though 'cause I didn't get a birthday that year because I was grounded. 🤔

I do not remember ever being grounded. I firmly believe that from our first breath, my parents sat next to our cribs and subliminally planted: “DON’T EVEN THINK ABOUT IT.”

I don't recall ever being grounded. We were punished in other ways. Lynn says she was grounded for one week.

I spent half my childhood grounded in on suspension LOL

My mom tried once but it didn't work out, she was in the wrong and was crazy and I had to sweep sidewalks to buy food, so wasn't interested in what she thought.

3 days, but the sentence was shortened because I was an utter pain in the neck and made a load of noise doing gymnastics in my bedroom 🤸🏼‍♀

With my moms set of rules figured out I had been grounded for 18 years until I went to college

Don't really remember, probably a week. Might have been a month once but I was so annoying as a kid that probably got cut short before it got as far as two whole weeks.

Did it have an impact on your behaviour? Were there any other punishments in concert with grounding. ?

I'm not sure, if there was anything like that then it probably was not being able to play on the computer. For a day or two.

Geez, we’re talking over 40 years ago…I borrowed a friend’s halter dress and platform shoes to go to a party after school one Friday and didn’t bother to change back into my school uniform before going home (I was supposedly "studying with friends").

My parents often worked late, but on this night, Mom had come home early. I’ll never forget how it felt putting my key in the lock and the door opening and there she was. And there I was, full makeup, "dressed liked a disco dancer", as she later described it.

No tv, no phone calls, no dances or parties, no get togethers with friends, for the rest of that semester. Just school and home.

Waiting for new parts, sometimes it takes ages
