Geez, we’re talking over 40 years ago…I borrowed a friend’s halter dress and platform shoes to go to a party after school one Friday and didn’t bother to change back into my school uniform before going home (I was supposedly "studying with friends").
My parents often worked late, but on this night, Mom had come home early. I’ll never forget how it felt putting my key in the lock and the door opening and there she was. And there I was, full makeup, "dressed liked a disco dancer", as she later described it.
No tv, no phone calls, no dances or parties, no get togethers with friends, for the rest of that semester. Just school and home.
