@helenS Are you enjoying it? There is some interesting history there. Doesn’t it go back to Isaac Newton?
helenS · 36-40, F
@Harmonium1923 Actually the whole thing goes back to mathematicians in ancient Greece! They realized that a circle may be seen as a polygon with infinite sides, the length of each "side" being infinitesimal.
It is a fascinating matter. To me it's more exciting than a novel.

@AngelUnforgiven I've read almost all of his novels and short stories if you're every curious about a certain book. I might be able to give you a positive review.
AngelUnforgiven · 51-55, F
@HowtoDestroyAngels that's exactly what I've been looking for. Thank you! But don't think that this means we are friends 😡

@4meAndyou Very true. I am not a fan of the Kennedys, but the book is interesting!

The Kidnapping of Edgardo Mortara

ElwoodBlues · M
@helenS Hey don't give away the plot!! I've just reached the description of the Casa dei Catecumeni where re-education takes place. Meanwhile, the outrage is growing.
helenS · 36-40, F
@ElwoodBlues I read the story in another book about 19th century catholicism ("ultramontanism"). It is outraging, and it's still defended by more than only a few Catholics. Hey, the Pope saved the boy's soul!
Harmonium1923 · 51-55, M
@ElwoodBlues I read that decades ago.

@Harmonium1923 Is that some sort of pornography or what?
Harmonium1923 · 51-55, M
@helenS That overstates it, though it’s more explicit than I expected. The author writes novels set in historic times in England (here the 1890s) and featuring lesbian characters.
