I am a member of the VHEMT: voluntary human extinction movemenT.
We believe in human extinction through VOLUNTARILY not breeding. We phase out and have an opportunity to dismantle some of the harmful things we've created on this earth.
Yes, we know it will never happen. We am not delusional. We recognize that force doesn't work for this sort of thing.
May we live long and die out.
There are dozens of us lol

@GeistInTheMachine have you seen the clip of Les U Knight being interviewed by Tucker Carlson? I absolutely adore his sweet, calm, pleasant demeanor. I think of it whenever I explain antinatalism to someone.

@Doomflower I think I have. He's awesome. Trying to explain things to Americans... Very tough.
I think I hate Fucker more than Handjob Hannity, though.

@GeistInTheMachine yeah I grew up listening to their garbage until I was about 18.

There is no 'bad' from a purely scientific perspective. Most likely scenario is (probably) that some other ape evolves into a sapient species and does it all over again.
reflectingmonkey · 51-55, M
nothing matters untill a human (or other intelligent species) decides that it matter to him. we invented the whole idea of system of values with certain things considered important and other things considered not important. there is no scientific reason why we as a species are important.
GeistInTheMachine · 31-35, M
@reflectingmonkey Precisely. Anything else is conceit.

I don't know, but I bet other wildlife here on the planet would be happy.🙃
GeistInTheMachine · 31-35, M
@SW-User The rotting human corpses alone would make great meals for the flora and fauna!

@GeistInTheMachine 😂 👍

Earth would flourish and a new species would rule in our place. No biggie.
GeistInTheMachine · 31-35, M
@SW-User That's what the Chinese call a Win-Win.
No, it would help a lot of other species thrive.
GeistInTheMachine · 31-35, M
@NerdyPotato Exactly. I am all for it. I don't see a downside.
@GeistInTheMachine maybe we should clean up a little before we disappear, but otherwise I agree.
GeistInTheMachine · 31-35, M
@NerdyPotato Agreed in theory. But in practice every year we stay alive as a race/species, the more likely we will take the world with us one way or another.
So it's best Armageddon comes quickly! 🙃

Yes, if we're not around to maintain the nuclear plants we built there will be mass catastrophe.

I'm sure Bigfoot would miss us a little.

I've always thought the earth was vastly overpopulated. I read somewhere that 300 million is actually the max the planet can support and be sustainable.
My suggestion is a random lottery and euthanise those who are chosen. A bit genocidal I'll admit but I'm not targeting any one group. Just one species, I'll fucking volunteer myself lol.

@Longpatrol That would be awesome, lmao. And that is what is going to happen anyway, but with scarcity and ethnic wars, civil and race wars etc.
Humanity is a self-correcting disease.

@Longpatrol I love that quote! Damn true.
Plus, remember folks, it's not genocide if we kill everyone equally.
Blacks, whites, muslims...
It's a killing fiesta!

Ummm yes.. it kinda is. If we are to assume that Earth life is important. The life that grew from Earth that is. Then we as a species are the species that has the best chance to keep it going past the point the Earth is habitable.
Well excpet maybe tardigrades and some novel bacteria

GeistInTheMachine · 31-35, M
@MethDozer Love ya man, but gotta disagree.
@MethDozer we can better protect ourselves against the elements than most species, but we're also the ones changing those. So it's really a toss up.
MethDozer · M
@NerdyPotato @NerdyPotato The planet isn't going to remain inhabital forever reguardless if we ever existed or did not exist. It also has nothing to do with protecting ourselves from the elements.
Also, Like BlueV explains. Science has no rigjt or wrong, good or bad.
Here's the thing though. Scientifically speaking, there's nothing that makes what we do unnatural since everything we do is due to our nature. So there is that. Then there is this, scientifically speaking no species or amount of species is important. So we go to the other aspectbof the question which is the materialistic stance. From a materialistic stance, we are the species who can keep at least one part Earth based life going past the life of the planet and to other planets. So from a materialistic point the answer is yes.
It's evolution man, that's all that is happening.
