From a purely Scientific Materialist POV, is it bad if Humanity goes Extinct?

If no one sentient is around to care?

I've always thought the earth was vastly overpopulated. I read somewhere that 300 million is actually the max the planet can support and be sustainable.

My suggestion is a random lottery and euthanise those who are chosen. A bit genocidal I'll admit but I'm not targeting any one group. Just one species, I'll fucking volunteer myself lol.
