From a purely Scientific Materialist POV, is it bad if Humanity goes Extinct?

If no one sentient is around to care?

Or would it be just (as I suspect) really, really funny?

There is no 'bad' from a purely scientific perspective. Most likely scenario is (probably) that some other ape evolves into a sapient species and does it all over again.
