From a purely Scientific Materialist POV, is it bad if Humanity goes Extinct?

If no one sentient is around to care?

Or would it be just (as I suspect) really, really funny?

nothing matters untill a human (or other intelligent species) decides that it matter to him. we invented the whole idea of system of values with certain things considered important and other things considered not important. there is no scientific reason why we as a species are important.
