@4meAndyou Just like you, I'd love to have more data on the question. Because we must base our decisions on the best data available. Do you have better data?
@ElwoodBlues Polls are the wrong way to obtain medical data. Do you really want to know how many people are vaccinated and how many are unvaccinated? Allowing for those who have already had covid19, survived it without the vaccine, and now have natural immunity? Or is it more of a political issue for you?
In the United States, medical data is personal information. People don't actually need to tell anyone whether or not they have been vaccinated unless their employers mandate it. The only way to determine numbers of vaccinated are in anonymous reporting by vaccination sites and by health insurance companies who are paying for the vaccine.
And the above nonsense...breaking it down by political party, is just another load of horse pucky published to try to form false generalizations.
@4meAndyou This is opinion data. Polls are pretty good at that. And the demographic distribution of opinions is useful for addressing problems of misinformation and disinformation.
You do know that ‘republicans’ are in large part in favor of the jab don’t you?
The only way I can think of that that might be true is if you polled Republicans maybe a little over 50% would be open to getting vaccinated. On the other hand, if you only polled people who refuse to get vaccinated, I’m pretty damn sure the vast majority of them are Republicans, conservatives, and/or Trump supporters.
I don’t know why you brought up the the perception that the Left has transitioned from anti-establishment to pro-establishment over the last several decades, but to the extent that that’s true it’s because some liberal causes have in that time been ostensibly adopted by the establishment. The infamous quote by Lee Atwater comes to mind about how now Republicans have to say “small government” and “tax cuts” instead of “forced busing” or the N word because it’s not acceptable to be overtly racist anymore.
If the government wants to kill you so damn bad, then why are they ostensibly doing it by trying to offer you poison disguised as a vaccine? Isn’t that a really convoluted method for an entity as powerful as the government?
Why isn’t the government your friend? In an ideal world the government, especially a democratic Constitutional republic like the US or Canada, would be your friend and would look out for you, wouldn’t it? The oh-so-wise Founding Fathers knew what they were doing, didn’t they? So what went wrong? I’m inclined to think you’re paranoid that people with more pigment in their skin than you have are out to get you and that they must have elected officials with malicious intent against white people. Even if you’re right, I’d rather live a shorter life believing in the basic goodness of my fellow countrymen than to believe that danger and evil are lurking around every corner like you seem to think.
@JP1119 Actually the biggest faction not getting vaxed are African Americans. They tend to vote democrat though. Strike ONE! Then there are the highly educated. Doctors and scientists also are less likely to get the jab than the working Joe who comes home every night and watches the nightly news. The highly educated tend to vote democrat too. Strike TWO! One other group that is very much against it are middle aged women. They also tend to vote democrat. Strike THREE! You and your ugly tribalism are out!
@hippyjoe1955 There are three kinds of lies: lies, damn lies, and statistics - Mark Twain.
Dude, that’s hilarious! Do you actually believe Republicans are more likely than Democrats to get the vaccine, or are you just straight up lying and trying to fool me? You chop the numbers up and cherry pick the ones that support your narrative. The simplest and most accurate way to determine whether Democrats or Republicans are more likely to get the vaccine is to point blank ask them, “Do you have or do you intend to get the vaccine?” And Democrats are way more likely to answer that question in the affirmative.
@nedkelly The silly part in the poll is the sexist racist basis of the poll. Typical of demoncraps who are prone to racism and sexism and ageism. Kind of sad but the demoncraps and there people have a long history of it. Look at the present POTUS and his racism past and present.
@nedkelly And yet, every campaign including Trump's spends millions on internal polling and uses the results to target districts & demographics, and to fine tune messaging. If polling were useless, why would Trump use it so much?
The only poll that matters is on election day
Unless you lose on election day, in which case you ask for do-overs, pretend there was fraud, and gather a crowd to try and overthrow Congress. Trump has spent the last eight months and raised over $200 million trying to make election day useless.
I gave you an upvote because SW said that upvotes to downvotes matter and I wanted to balance it out 😋

I ask people all around me and nobody knows anyone who was ever questioned about these polls... so, who all did they ask since us little people weren't included?
@SomeMichGuy I've come to the conclusion I just don't care. Take a look at this site and all the posts about covid, the vaccines, charts and graphs of who does or doesn't want a vaccine, supposed amount of people dying and who is or isn't vaccinated and they all have something in common... upset, hate, division of people, etc... I no longer wish to be a part of it all.
@SW-User Yeah, there's a lot of CoViD postings. Of course, there IS a pandemic, and it IS a social site; is it any wonder that the site would reflect what is going on in society?
The people against the vaccinations present rumors, etc., so @ElwoodBlues shows data with references. It grounds what he presents, unlike the rumor-trading on, say, some posts on Facebook or here or other places.
If you don't like these, don't stress. Just unfollow this group ("Disease H Illness"), CoViD-related groups, etc. It's easy to get away from a bit of it.
Of course, you can stop following replies.
But be safe and may you stay well. I wish you nothing but the best! 😊

@SomeMichGuy I don't follow these groups. I have figured out you have to put on blindfolds, plug your ears and block people and groups til hell freezes over. If this is what it's all about, I'll pass. Thank you and you stay safe too.
@SumKindaMunster Still waiting for you to present better data on the question. Until then, this is the best data we have. And the best data drives the conclusions.
And yet one republican on fox was blaming black people for spreading the virus. And I'm like then why is it unvaccinnated white people that are all dying? Or are you saying black people are immune? Lol
@canusernamebemyusernameWhy am I not surprised that someone on Faux News would come up with that ? We were over represented among the deaths before the vaccines were available. And now some are afraid because of the Mengele-type experiments that were historically performed on blacks in this country. But one of my sisters is a nurse; she said “All these white doctors are getting vaccinated ! And we know no one’s trying to harm them !” Where we’re getting vaccinated, the death tolls are dropping.
And voting against it...we know that facts found to fail the fraught fairy tales of the fearful must be found fully "false" to fortify the farcical phantasms and fantastic fictions of those fright-filled fools.
I guess those controlled by fear believe that downvoting ACTUAL facts can magically transform them into "alternative 'facts' "...something à la clapping because you believe in fairies in Peter Pan... Except that the *latter* is a child's story, and clapping for fairies is simply childish fun, while the *former* is deadly serious, in the case you continually put before the denizens of this social site., and the opposition to ACTUAL facts and reason is the hallmark of the those trusting in opinion based upon lies, rumor, and unsupportable wild claims.

@Adogslife I am not claiming anything that is not in full evidence. You have vax brain and it is about a plain as the nose on your face. You do have a nose don't you? You do have a face don't you? Your not some faceless troll being completely ignorant are you? Well one of those two options are the only two left. Either you are a troll or you have vax brain. I think it is likely vax brain.
@ElwoodBlues Still with the religious tracts? You do know that I never read them don't you? Maybe your vax brain prevents you from grasping that. I have told you multiple times that I never read them but you just keep posting them like some kind of robot. Very strange behavior. Can only be explained by you having vax brain. Good thing it is not contagious - unless you get the vax.
Reastically, data are good and meant to be put to good use. But data vary on different times and truth is, even research data can be manipulated by the wrong people. It is why it is essential to have multiple sources.
I don't have issues with your presented data but I do want people to think and do deep research. Not the first thing we see or hear is everything.
@ElwoodBlues I have no reason not to believe that.
But honestly I'm more interested to know about what the frontliners have to say. If they themselves are vaccinated by choice or not. Their observations and thoughts. I don't have exact demographics. But it caught my interest how some medical practitioners don't trust vaccines. I only read some medical article/s and not all are recent. But you get what I mean.
I have no argument with you. If anything I like people who do their research. Just that one research isn't everything is all and I hope SW people in general think more deeply and research.
@ElwoodBlues the other community is born here and has many jobs in local and state government . That’s why local government has mandated vax for all govt workers . It’s the only way to get them to vax
Hmmm, looks like white and black republicans prefer freedom of choice / liberty over blindly following elite leaders that don't even follow their own rules.
Just a curiosity question, if you're for the vax and have got it why are you worried about someone else getting it? Think it doesn't work? You didn't get it and want protected by everyone else? Or just a troll?
@Virgo79 I have a neighbor, lovely young woman, who is immuno-compromised. She got the vax, but it really doesn't do much for her. There are millions more Americans like her. These people need our herd immunity.
The current pandemic of the unvaccinated is killing some of our most vulnerable people. We, as a society, should be better than this. And, I would expect anyone from the party of "choose life" to implicitly understand this line of argument!
