Interesting poll of which demographics are refusing the vaccine

This data is a month old now, but this is a poll of who plans to refuse the vaccine

Update: Wow! I got a downvote for providing facts! What kind of coward downvotes facts??

I ask people all around me and nobody knows anyone who was ever questioned about these polls... so, who all did they ask since us little people weren't included?
@SW-User Population of the USA = 333,000,000
Number of people in typical political poll = 3000.

Odds of person X being polled = 1/100,000
Odds of someone in a cohort of 100 being polled = 1/1000

That's why.

@ElwoodBlues And that is how the United States is represented for a poll? See a problem with that? I sure do!
@SW-User When I studied stochastics, I learned how estimators are formed, and how to interpret the error bars. With random sampling it actually works quite well.
@SW-User It's important to select a representative sample, to be sure, but @ElwoodBlues is right.

And these numbers are typical. You don't have to poll everyone, or half of everyone, or a quarter of everyone in order to get a reasonable representation of what people think/what's true at a given little window of time.

But keep in mind the difference between

• statistics (which, used like this, is descriptive), and

• probability which is predictive.

@SomeMichGuy I've come to the conclusion I just don't care. Take a look at this site and all the posts about covid, the vaccines, charts and graphs of who does or doesn't want a vaccine, supposed amount of people dying and who is or isn't vaccinated and they all have something in common... upset, hate, division of people, etc...
I no longer wish to be a part of it all.
@SW-User Yeah, there's a lot of CoViD postings. Of course, there IS a pandemic, and it IS a social site; is it any wonder that the site would reflect what is going on in society?

The people against the vaccinations present rumors, etc., so @ElwoodBlues shows data with references. It grounds what he presents, unlike the rumor-trading on, say, some posts on Facebook or here or other places.

If you don't like these, don't stress. Just unfollow this group ("Disease H Illness"), CoViD-related groups, etc. It's easy to get away from a bit of it.

Of course, you can stop following replies.

But be safe and may you stay well. I wish you nothing but the best! 😊

@SomeMichGuy I don't follow these groups. I have figured out you have to put on blindfolds, plug your ears and block people and groups til hell freezes over.
If this is what it's all about, I'll pass.
Thank you and you stay safe too.
