No, this is not us. Yes, there is more of this than at any time in my lifetime, but most of us are appalled at this stuff. I think the present administration got elected on mostly economic issues, an anti-government sentiment among many especially the very wealthy and the economically struggling and the Dems running a poor candidate and lousy campaign...most Americans are good people, but Nazis!!!

Kamala didn't really have a chance; Biden should have said right at the start of his presidency that he would be a one-term president. Then there could have been a proper passing of the baton.
That said, Kamala ran an extremely poor campaign, which was basically Hillary 2.0. She counted on people voting for her because she's not Trump, didn't offer anything concrete and new, and relied on star-power to get her through the door, shown by the number of times her campaign would sweep in, and then sweep out after the requisite photo-ops/endorsements. Hate to say it, but Trump's campaign actually engaged at the community level all over America. I doubt he meant a word of it, but it worked.
The Dems, however, were just as disillusioned with Kamala as they were with Hillary, which showed in the poor voter turnout, handing Trump the White House, again, with just a few tens of thousands of votes in the swing states.
Did that many people really have doubts about that?

@SW-User ok, but nothing new doesn't sound worse to me than a dictator who promised to abolish the constitution and to ruin the economy. What am I missing here, other than racism and misogyny?

SW-User
@NerdyPotato Well there was a strong misogynistic vibe as well. Americans aren't ready for a female president.

@Pretzel However, you can bet that Trump, and by proxy, Elon, will use the power of the office to punish whichever dissenters have legally exercised their First Amendment rights. You’re seeing it with these mass firings.
Pretzel · 70-79, M
@bijouxbroussard which makes bidens questionable pardons a little more understandable

@Pretzel I understood exactly why he pardoned his son, even if he hadn’t originally planned to. He wasn’t going to leave Hunter at the mercy of Trump’s notorious vindictiveness.

Yes it is. In many places. They don't care about WWII. Weak minds fueling their egos thru hate and feeling superior, important. Florida and Texas and other red states are hot beds for them. Trump wants to be a dictator. He's said it publicly. I have a feeling you're going to want to stay in the UK. Unless some miracle happens, the states aren't going to be anything close to a democracy when he's finished. History repeats itself when the people turn a blind eye to it.
BrandNewMan · M
@Elisbch Like it or not its protected under the First Amendment, in all 50 states. It happened under Kennedy, Carter, Clinton, Obama and Biden as well.

Saw the above and remembered this...
[media=https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=ToKcmnrE5oY]
It maybe sums up the problem with these people. They see themselves as the goodies, the heroes. It's revealing that the Nazis of WW2 did see themselves as heroic. That even the evil they did, like the Holocaust, was a necessary evil. That it demonstrated their "heroism" that they would do whatever they saw as necessary for that "higher purpose. And it is a warning to us all. Inflicting cruelty is never justified, is never acceptable.

They didn't forget it. They just think the wrong side lost. When not marching, they can still be identified by their red hats.
bijouxbroussard · F
No, incredibly they just think the wrong side won.
This happened in Lincoln Heights, Ohio, a largely African American neighborhood. The residents stood up to them, burned one of their flags, and ran them off. And were outraged that the police, whose salaries are paid for by taxpaying residents, were there to protect the Nazis.
This is indeed Donald Trump’s America, 2025. 🥺

@bijouxbroussard That has nothing to do w who is president. The First Amendment gives them the right to assemble and to protection from violence if they do. The klan has done the same thing in other places. So have Palestine/Hamas supporters, Black Lives Matter, and a host of others and it goes back longer than you or I have lived.
As hard to accept as it is at times with the nature of some groups, its protected under our constitution.

@BrandNewMan It’s true, but MAGA has brought a lot of such people out of the woodwork and emboldened them. Incidentally, you won’t find blacks marching with the KKK or Neo-Nazis, but plenty of whites were involved in BLM, because the latter wasn’t initially hate-based and exclusive.

One of the things that's appalling to me is how often swastika bearing folks are tolerated at demonstrations for Trump. It's horrifying that self-described American patriots SILENTLY ASSENT to Nazis in their midst. Repeatedly.

Nope, they know exactly what they are supporting. And then half the country voted for a president like that...
@NerdyPotato that 1% owns the military, what more do you need to know? A couple hundred million Americans know that their government will turn on them. If anything, that's what they're hoping for, so they can finally put us all in our place, as traitors.
Come on over and try starting a fire, all Americans know what happens when you do that. And what about the millions of people that believe in maga? My neighbors. You want me to go get them? Alone with my child?
They created a society to manipulate. America is young in comparison to other countries. We clearly haven't gotten it all figured out. But you really aren't grasping that votes don't really matter. And that's creating an illusion, that we have a voice. Maybe 20 years ago we were trying.
But tbh, judge however you want. Watch innocent people burn because we asked for it whatever. I asked for it.

@MarbleMarvel
And as for the risks: that's why votes are anonymous. Maybe you're right and voting doesn't matter. I'm not sure... I only know that doing nothing guarantees that the 1% will do what they want as opposed to that being likely.
Anyway, it's only speculation now anyway. The past election can't be changed anymore and there probably won't be any future ones, at least not like we knew them. Good luck with the situation and stay safe... 🫂

Here's Musk appearing via video link at an election rally by the far right AfD party in Germany. The AfD have been charged with promoting Nazi ideology and using terminology specifically associated with the Nazi SA (SS). There's nothing out of context about it, except to Fascists like yourself. Deny it all you like. Fascists are notorious for denying historical facts that they find embarrassing.

Having found a description of them, I would say they do not "forget" but choose not to learn.
They were not there so have nothing to "forget". I don't suppose many of these offensive but really rather childish clowns were even born before the1960s. More likely they deliberately ignore the Nazi regime's utter barbarity, but proudly support Hitler's racism including anti-Semitism, and homophobia.
My, aren't they brave! I expect they have looked at plenty of photographs of the real Nazi rallies and the like, and were impressed by the smart parade uniforms and trappings but failed to spot those 1930s men, for all their evil intent, did not hide behind face coverings.
I thought it rather ironical that this anti-freedom outfit's founder had been a Marine in the service of the nation that calls itself "The Land Of The Free" in which people like these ones have the right to proclaim their anti-freedom mantras.

@ArishMell Russia and China were bedfellows for a period after WW2, but it didn't last. The Soviets were planning a nuclear strike in 1969, following the Zhenbao Island "incident", but wanted the USA to stand aside. They wouldn't guarantee that and so the strike was cancelled.
