No, this is not us. Yes, there is more of this than at any time in my lifetime, but most of us are appalled at this stuff. I think the present administration got elected on mostly economic issues, an anti-government sentiment among many especially the very wealthy and the economically struggling and the Dems running a poor candidate and lousy campaign...most Americans are good people, but Nazis!!!

@Docdon23 It would seem that many people have no idea what Nazis really are. In fact the Democrats have been far more Nazish than Republicans. Here in Canada the Liberals are far far far more Nazish than the Conservatives are. I think the confusion comes from the education system that is pro socialist. They were all in favour of Socialist Nazi Germany until Nazi Germany was exposed for what it was then suddenly Socialist Nazi Germany was far right wing extremist. In fact Nazi Germany was socialist and not at all unlike Trudeau's Liberals or Singh's New Democratic Party up to and including killing people. Here in Canada if you are old and feeble you had better not go to the doctor because the doctor is more likely to kill you than treat you.
@Docdon23 I still don't get this part:

the Dems running a poor candidate and lousy campaign

All she had to do was be better than someone who promised to be a dictator, abolish the constitution and ruin the economy. Did that many people really have doubts about that?

@NerdyPotato But she had to promise to do these things while being a woman of color, and unfortunately, this country just hasn’t evolved as much as many of us thought. That has to be the only reason she couldn’t defeat a convicted criminal.

In 2020 some of us hoped Trump had just been a fluke and we were back on course, moving forwards.

But now we have to accept that Obama was the fluke and we’re headed full-tilt backwards to the ugly days of the past—apparently that’s who we truly are at heart. 😞
@bijouxbroussard Righteousness could have prevailed if Pence, McConnell, Graham and lots of other Republicans hadn’t lost their nerve.

I have always admired Adam Kinzinger. And after January 6th, Liz Cheney—something I never would have thought possible.

But when false “public servants” fail to do the clearly right thing and “bought and paid for” Supreme Court and other Justices cover for the Apricot Antichrist, well then all of our history that truly was noble & patriotic seems to fall by the wayside.

Nothing speaks of selling out the American people and our allies louder than the draft dodging, traitor, convicted felon, adjudicated rapist and insurrectionist pardoning his January 6th thugs and firing the FBI/CIA agents.
@bijouxbroussard I'm afraid you may be spot on there...

Yes I think they did.

Kamala didn't really have a chance; Biden should have said right at the start of his presidency that he would be a one-term president. Then there could have been a proper passing of the baton.

That said, Kamala ran an extremely poor campaign, which was basically Hillary 2.0. She counted on people voting for her because she's not Trump, didn't offer anything concrete and new, and relied on star-power to get her through the door, shown by the number of times her campaign would sweep in, and then sweep out after the requisite photo-ops/endorsements. Hate to say it, but Trump's campaign actually engaged at the community level all over America. I doubt he meant a word of it, but it worked.

The Dems, however, were just as disillusioned with Kamala as they were with Hillary, which showed in the poor voter turnout, handing Trump the White House, again, with just a few tens of thousands of votes in the swing states.
@SW-User ok, but nothing new doesn't sound worse to me than a dictator who promised to abolish the constitution and to ruin the economy. What am I missing here, other than racism and misogyny?

@NerdyPotato Well there was a strong misogynistic vibe as well. Americans aren't ready for a female president.
