9. President Biden ended a hopeless debacle that was costing us the lives of our soldiers for no good reason. And has cost us over two trillion dollars. Sometimes there is no good outcome to a bad situation. The blame belongs with President George W. Bush who got us entangled in that Afghanistan/Iraq mess in 2002.
It was largely a scam by unscrupulous military contracts and other scoundrels to line their pockets at the expense of the American tax payer.
This whole idea of withdrawal was bad from the start. There was no need to. Yes President Trump began the process and it’s one of the few things he did that I completely disagreed with. That said, how Biden has chosen to execute the withdrawal is beyond incompetent. Abandoning Black Hawk helicopters, 1000s of rifles, 10s of 1000s rounds of ammunition. No plan to get American citizens out, they don’t know how many there are and now can’t even guarantee safe passage to the airport in Kabul. Calling the ANA cowards. Sentencing Afghan nationals who fought beside us to death by not processing their visas and getting them the hell out of there. State Department says one thing, Pentagon says another and Biden finds a way to contradict both. Gross dereliction of duty by this administration.
@Oberon1 the most important job an American President has is to protect the citizens. The administration has openly admitted they can’t do that right now in Afghanistan and that they don’t even know how many are there. That’s unforgivable.
I know there are many other things that have occurred but this post is directly related to the situation in Afghanistan currently so that’s my focus.
@badminton I have mixed emotions to your comment. We probably shouldn't have been there. The united nations is a bad idea as they don't think right. And as far as Biden saving money to be used domestically that will never happen under progressive leadership. They will always send our taxpayers out of our country. They could care less about us.
@Baremine President Biden has a program of investment in our dilapidated infrastructure and fighting global warming. These programs are urgently needed and will create good paying jobs for Americans. I entirely approve.
@badminton if all the money was spent on infrastructure no one would complain. It's all the money on stupid programs, black lives matter, Antifa, transgender education that needs to go away. Climate change is certainly questionable at the best.
Can we use negative numbers? 😝 Negative 10 trillion.
It was NOT lost on me that during the Pentagon's news conference, that one of the responders, a very large black man whose name I don't recall, actually hesitated and smirked a little bit when asked why our armed forces had to leave in such a hurry from Bagram, in the middle of the night, abandoning the Afghan forces there without a word, and without a plan in place for getting our people out safely.
From that one smirk, I could picture Biden having a demented tantrum in front of his military and National Security advisors, and telling them to " Get out of Iran...I mean...Afg-Afghanistan NOW, I am your C-c-commander in Chief and you WILL obey me! And I need a nap because I have a headache from eating so much ice cream! It was chocolate and vanilla swirl, which is my favorite! I ate a LOT and have major brain freeze! So I am going on vacation!!!"
I could also see, from that one smirk, that the advisors decided to eff Biden's political career by obeying him instantly.
It was a look that said..."Yeah...we effed you, old man. And that makes us happy. How do you like us NOW?"
@Nimbus He is planning on bribing them, or has already done so, in order to allow AMERICANS only safe passage through their checkpoints. He told so many lies during his news conference today the fact checkers couldn't keep up in real time.
8. He made the critical mistake of imagining that our intelligence agencies were intelligent, but otherwise it was fine. This move will save at least hundreds of American lives, thousands of civilian lives, and trillions of dollars.
If i selected 1 then i would be saying he is handling it very badly..
But i don't think he has handled it at all.. The guy is a senile old man who most likely had no idea what his handlers where doing in the situation.. Biden has quickly become an international joke and a meme for weakness and incompetence.. But really i don't think he is in control of anything.. He is a vacuum headed puppet..
I am sure there must be a worse way to do a withdrawal from Afghanistan but I honestly can't think of one. Biden has been shown to be an utter failure (I am being kind here) and should, if he has any personal integrity resign immediately. Oh he should take Heels up Harris with him. She would be just as bad as Biden. How did those two ever get elected? Serious question. Did no one see this kind of disaster unfolding when they cast a ballot for a man with dementia and a woman who climbed the political ladder on her back?
@Nimbus It's infuriating beyond belief. We need a miracle, or we are in for some serious trouble in the coming years. Even the confessions of the FBI, and the truth in Hunters laptop will not get the leftists out of their surreal madness. They thirst for chaos and destruction like leeches for blood.
0. I recall there being a ton of experts here on Presidential handlings who were very vocal whenever Trump would be accused of something. They seem awfully quiet. I wonder where all their strident demanding vitriol has gone? We have a President here who clearly has bungled (again) and nary a peep from those oh-so educated know-it-all experts on everything. 😂
I commented a few days ago, but I’ve seen some reactions from European politicians and that says a lot because not all of it is supportive of the Biden Administration’s handling of Afghanistan draw down. But more than that, what will take place as we approach, come to 31 August?
@BalmyNites Just my feeling here, but there was and still is a great disdain for Trump and I believe it blinded many people and perhaps they thought a better man in the Oval Office would be Biden. Looking at the Afghanistan issue, yes it may have opened many eyes. I hope it has
@BalmyNites With respect to politicians, many of us are so enamored with them that their personal faults and flaws , dalliances, behaviors are either ignored or denied. And if one looks into the past history of many of America’s politicians they’ll see that those politicians too had flaws. But if you are the President, your people come first. You are obligated to protect them .If you fail then you need to go.
Very few people know the details of the thought process that went into any of this, so this survey will yield opinions that are slightly more useful than a popularity contest.
If one is to believe the shitbags from the prior administration, there was never an intent to follow through on pulling out, so to that end, Biden at least is the first President in 2 decades to have the stones to make a very difficult decision.
I question the apparent faith he had in Ghani who was, evidently, not paying the military so that he could amass some wealth because he was planning to bail with suitcases full of cash. (I have no idea if he actually fled with cash)
It baffles me that the military wasn’t able to communicate back to Washington that the soldiers weren’t getting paid and therefore would be subject to laying down for the Taliban… or maybe this was known all along and this was part of the plan?
Truth is, without fighting in any given region, the Taliban is now spread really thin across the country. From a strategic position, that’s not a bad plan: let the enemy in and spread them out.
The people dying at the airport is the worst humanitarian part of this.
I cannot grade anyone. I can provide only an incomplete and then wait for more to unfold.
@JoeyFoxx Ghani fled with literal suitcases full of cash. Like every puppet before him he was only in it for the power and without it he took the money and ran. The Taliban has been seeding the area with their people for months and in 20 years the US backed puppet state never even held 50% of the country. Just a network of basically city states almost all of them surrounded by hostile forces. Their military was also trained to fight with the backing of US air and artillery support. Like every colonial army they were trained to be dependent on their overlords. You don't train a colony to stand on it's own. And those that paid attention are not stupid and not going to fight for a lost cause headed by an American college professor who bailed almost immediately.
Maybe 4-5, we needed to exit Afghanistan a long time ago, good on him for finally doing that. His team could have done a better job realizing that the Afghan Government and the ANA were incapable of continuing after we left and planned for that happening ahead of time but hindsight is 20/20.
You'd need to correct the depth chart as to how low I would rate it. Massive cluster 'eff...and the scary part is....his dementia has overridden any modicum of sense he may have remaining. It's now revealed we don't even know how many Americans we have missing, to say nothing of the logistics necessary to get them to the airports. Kudo's to both the French & Brits for having the hair to go in and search for theirs. Just.....totally inept and inexcusable.
Now do people understand how important their vote is? Unbelieveable.
I am tired of Americans having to "police" the world. It's a drain on our resources and enables other countries not to have to find solutions to their own problems. But there is always a reason. We never, ever go in without a solid benefit to the US (oil), not to save them from the Taliban, that's for sure.
@MeowsoliniReturns Afghanistan is very rich in minerals, and China was already sealing that deal before withdrawal was even discussed. Why didn't the mean green capitalist machine get the drop on China for all the minerals?
Who ever gave that Order is a traitor and seriously compromised our national security by supplying arms to a radical Muslim terrorist organization . No one is this stupid, it was done intentionally
1. He doesn’t even have accurate information and forgets what he’s told. This is getting way too serious now. We have a health crises and demented people ready for blow us up and they have that bonehead in charge.
@Keepitsimple One has to question what he is doing between TV appearances. From here it seems like he's practicing the speech that his handlers prepared for him. No one seems to be in charge.
@Heartlander I’d like to believe they are trying to figure out how to get him out. If they don’t we will have a war here. Nobody trusts anything be said anymore.
