I usually ask the advice of someone whose opinion or decision making skills I trust.

If you can be impulsive like me (ADHD), try to just distract yourself to think it out.

For example, I often get this urge to just color my hair or cut it off... and it's not always the best idea but I think I do it as way to shed an old habit, old me, old lifestyle. Anyway, my hair is getting damaged so I'm trying to distract myself instead when these ideas come up... maybe I'll take a new shower and get my hair into good shape first, put a treatment on it. Then later ask someone who has experience lol

Seek wisdom and discernment, truth can only be found when one is able to use both.

Before making ANY life changing decisions, make a list of what you believe to be the.pros and cons of that decision, and take the list to a good ocounselor and go over the list with her.

You seek out the judgment of someone you trust.
You go back and examine what went wrong what decision did you make what decision could you have made and then you learn from that

You go on SW and ask random strangers what you should do.

If you cannot trust yourself then you have lost control of your life. Get counseling for yourself before making any further decisions.

Activate [Fuck it mode] and don't sweat the small stuff.

Just because you don't trust it, doesn't mean it's wrong, or right - but by questioning it, you are being self-observant, which in itself is very positive.
I hide inside and figure it out and heal

I was brought up not to trust my own judgment. So for the longest time I never really did. It just got me in trouble.

Now I trust it but still have lingering doubts.
You either trust God, or you will be open to all kinds of bad influeces.

You are in serious trouble. Seek wise counsel when making any larger decisions.
You step back before making a mistake or looking like a fool. Get informed / have a rest and see if things get any clearer.
