Had lipton iced tea growing up. Parents liked their coffee black like in the army. Mom may have used cream. Now-a-days I like lattes on occasion.

Why? As a child from the 70's, and living in Yorkshire - UK - coffee, I don't remember, was much of a thing.
It's inherently built into our DNA, being English, that "...tea solves all problems.."
Also, coming from Yorkshire (Sheffield), we all know that Yorkshire tea is the very best!
I do love a good coffee, but tea is best. Splash of milk, no sugar.
Perfect!

It's far easier to find tasty tea than tasty coffee.
I don't need milk with it and I'm allergic to cow milk protein, so should be safer.
I don't need any special machine to make good tea, I can't make a good coffee without an expensive coffee machine.
Making tea is far easier and less effort than making coffee, including cleaning afterwards.

Nothing beats a cup of Darjeeling tea - especially Flowery Orange Pekoe - Second Flush from the Makaibari Tea Estate. Truly the "Champagne of Teas". No milk, one cube of sugar.
It's very expensive, so I can only have it sparingly, sadly.
Yes, I'm a tea snob.
Coffee is my everyday drink, but curling up with a good book and a Darjeeling cuppa over the weekend is a ritual that completes life.

Tea is less harsh on my stomach. Comes in a variety of flavors and in various ingredients. It can be different from day to day without a lot of effort.
nazgul · 26-30, F
I don't like the taste of coffee no matter what I cover it up with. So preparing tea is just simpler and cheaper for me since I actually enjoy it lol

@OriginalNedKelly Funny enough, there is a cafe in the place where I visit my wife..😷
OriginalNedKelly · M
@whowasthatmaskedman I did not realise that your wife is in a nursing home ♥
whowasthatmaskedman · 70-79, M
@OriginalNedKelly Yes. Its all good. Dementia finally caught up with us over a year ago now. Before that I looked out for her at home, going back before Covid. But she is in a great place with lovely carers and having been a nurse in aged care herself, half the time she thinks she is running the place. She is way happier there than she was with me having to say "No" to her.. As I said, there is even a cafe on site. And a bar. But we arent drinkers..😷
** And thank you for everyones empathy on this. But it isnt necessary really: We had 50 good years and more than our fair share of joy and luck. So I am content, and she is in her happy place now in a way I couldnt provide any more..😷

Tea quenches my thirst and it's refreshing, coffee makes me thirsty.and leaves a foul stale taste.
fun4us2b · M
@RodneyTrotter1 Is it true that people that don't add milk to tea are uncivilized? (I don't but look at my pfp)
RodneyTrotter1 · 100+, M
@fun4us2b I add milk to English breakfast tea but not to other types and i say, how awfully rustic and feral looking you are!
fun4us2b · M
@RodneyTrotter1 LOL - I just might try that as EBT is my Saturday tea...
HumanEarth · F
I like both, but I rather have tea over coffee
fun4us2b · M

Caleidoscope · F
I don’t.I usually have to kick start my mornings with coffee ,dark ,without milk or sugar
ItsMeMorgue · 46-50, F
@Caleidoscope What's the reasoning there? Just the idea that nothing worse than that can possibly happen to you?
Caleidoscope · F
@ItsMeMorgue Reasoning is I like energetic mornings and coffee does that !

@valobasa4ever Maybe, but you know... coffee all the time for me! 🙂 In Italy, where I grew up, tea is given only to people when they're sick... and without milk! I don't know if things have changed now, since I moved to the UK in 2013 and I rarely follow Italian news and culture (I had to look for neologisms' definitions because I sincerely didn't know what they meant)... and believe me, I'm surrounded by tons of tea-drinkers now! 🤪
