Hearing some details of the life of Thomas Merton, someone I had long admired as truly enlightened, that have made me think of him as just another confused person. That was just the latest in a string of such disillusionments about admired people and heroes. I am still gradually getting used to the idea that everybody's only human.

@bijouxbroussard I guess that proves that just because your people are oppressed, that doesn't automatically make you a good person. Some people are just аѕѕhоӏеѕ regardless of their background.

@LordShadowfire @bijouxbroussard but then maybe it also shows that a person's impact goes beyond their individual flaws and blind spots. Nelson Mandela was inspired by Gandhi and emulated his tactics.

@ThePatientAnarchist I suppose so. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. was inspired by him, too, and modeled his non-violent form of protest during the Civil Right era here.

Finding out that colors don’t actually exist. It’s just a perception done between our brains, wavelengths of light, and photoreceptors within our eyes. It broke my brain…and yes, it’s something I didn’t truly realize until I was an adult. Just like the moon not emitting its own light 🤦🏻♀. My public school edumacation failed me.

@DeWayfarer I just choose to use my time in a different way. I’m not a debate person. I listen. Take in the information. And then move on weighing everything I know, but only if it’s extremely pertinent to me. This is not.
