Originally I was oddnelly. I searched the internet and found no others by that name. Then I heard rumors about someone who was using my user name and photos on a different website. I searched and found someone using my name so I started changing it. I was nieroticnelly for awhile. Then I took the name I have now because its still a root of my old names and a play on the rap group named naughty by nature.
At the time, I was very new to wicca and witchcraft, and as with all new things, I was obsessed with it. I thought it would be funny to choose a name that was a play on the fact that I wear all black and practice magick, and chose DarkMagickan. (Spelled that way in honor of Mr. Crowley.)
Unbeknownst to me, that name was only one letter away from a card in a game I had never played, because I always thought it was a dumbed down ripoff of Magic: The Gathering. And so when people would strike up conversations about yu-gi-oh, I was clueless, and later frustrated and upset. Because when you spend a lot of time coming up with a username, and people just assume you took it from something in popular culture, that feels a lot like they're calling you a hack who is unable to come up with something original. Plus nobody could pronounce it.
So I set about coming up with something similar, at least in essence, while not invoking memories of somebody else's work. The synonym for dark was easy enough, but what's a good synonym for magick? Energy? Power? And then it hit me.
Shadowfire.
The prefix Lord came along later, after I had been on Yahoo! Answers for several years. There was an old Christian woman there who call herself Fireball. She was famous. Between her incessant use of caps lock scream at everybody and her absolutely insane hot takes (she responded once to a question of whether seagulls would go to heaven by saying no, because they didn't read), there were a lot of people who assumed she was an atheist trolling as a fundie.
One day, just to be silly, I changed my name on my latest account (I went through a lot of them back then) to LordShadowfire, and she FREAKED! The only thing she would say to me whenever we debated after that was "YOU ARE LORD OF NOTHING! ONLY JESUS IS LORD!"
It's anagram that describes me. Years ago I had an ex cancel everything because he knew all my password's a mistake I haven't made again. So I had to come up with a user name he would not think of and this was it.
I always likes cheerios and my dad used to tease me and say if you are what you eat my name should have been oo because of how many Os there are in me 🤪
