Do you suffer from anxiety and what do you do to alleviate it aside from what medications are prescribed for it?

I used to suffer from it daily because sometimes no matter the methods of calming and staying in the present moment it’ll still wrap its arms around you and just won’t let go. Tapping finally brought some relief though. So did getting a book on CBT therapy and writing down key points that made my brain slow down enough to pay attention to the information being taken in. And cutting off triggering things like coffee and acidic foods while heightening my protein and healthy foods intake. That alone helped the rewiring that was needed.

But these days it still tries to grip me too tightly just to remind me that it’s still a part of it, so I simply let it. I acknowledge it. Breathe through it. And wait for it to pass, which it always does. That’s the biggest remedy there is for it. Acknowledgment and trying to find your peace with its existence as it slowly loses its grip on you. Don’t feed it and it will starve. …easier said than done though.
Yes. It comes and goes. What helps most is slowing down, breathing through it, and reminding myself I’m safe even when my body doesn’t believe it. Being gentle with myself instead of fighting it has made a big difference. It's never easy.

Yes, sometimes extreme. I can't take meds because of my nervous system so I go to therapy and basically have learned to maintain life with anxiety and depression 24/7. I do little things throughout the day to regulate. Make tea, stretch, go outside, cry, scream, write down my thoughts, play with my dog...

On days I can't regulate myself I take THC gummies and then I just don't care.

But it's always present. I don't hate it, it makes me creative at times and keeps me on my toes. Maybe I don't even know who I am without it.

My situation is a bit unique but i have taken medication in the past and stopped. I found it effects my life in a way that i dont prefer.

Also i kinda blew a gasket or something because i stopped caring about anything.

In the time of my struggles I found it helps to understand that anxiety is fear of the future and depression is dwelling on the past. Living in the present moment neutralizes both.

I don't take any prescription meds for it. Only OTC valerian root extract pills if I feel like they could help. Prevention is the key. Enough sleep, eating well, not skipping meals, taking vitamin D and zinc when needed, avoiding stressful and unnecessary social interactions..

Deep breaths, analyze the situation, what makes me feel unsafe in the situation, then talk to myself (loudly if needed) that it's safe and all in my head. And if worst case scenario should happen, there are ways to get out unharmed, then tell myself those ways.

I've done this for so many years it all happens within seconds usually, but it helps.

Rarely, but it DOES happen. Breathing techniques always help. Not had one for the longest time.

I just read the post again. I have anxiety I would smoke weed, but I can’t because of my work. I don’t cope

Yeah, solitude simplifies things and is pretty easy to be calm in that sort of setting.

Probably don't want to try this but smoking weed has helped me a lot:)🚬🚭🚭🚭

If possible, go for a walk. If not, music or comfort show and sleep.
Breathing with your belly will eliminate most of your anxiety.

No anxiety.
Just love. ☺
Paddle my pink canoe and eat Ring Dings.
@OlderSometimesWiser They look tasty. The Ring Dings, I mean. 😉
