Society is a burden on children

Well they don’t stay children forever… they become adults. So if they are deemed “‘more costly than profitable” then so are the rest of us 🤷🏻♀
Children contribute a lot by the way… my children have enriched my life and opened my eyes. I have learned so much alongside them

@WaryWitchWandering Animals and kids are the only thing that help me explore childhood wonder when I feel like it's been ripped away.

@jehova 🤔not at all this has been the case with them throughout time and memorial childhood is a special time and to be enjoyed and carefree . when the time is right they will take on the necessary responsibilities required of them they willl do so

I've never looked at it that way. If you are asking that question then you also need to ask what is the society and people as such for at all. Every single person can be a burden to someone else.

Should we really be analyzing human life in sheer business economic terms?
I mean, maybe I'm weird, but I think sentient conscious life is far more important than pieces of paper whose sole value derives through an unspoken agreement in society.

@jehova I understand. But monetary value, the market and private property are not biological constructs, they're social.
Shouldn't we instead as a society why normal human functions like reproduction and child rearing which helps propogate our species is dependent on financial factors?

@basilfawlty89 valid points. In some societies often eastern or middle eastern or ultra traditional christain or Amish or tribal the focus is on community to jointly raise the next generation. Id suggest maybe thats what the modern world needs more of ; community upbringing.
basilfawlty89 · 36-40, M
@jehova absolutely, even if you look at human needs - we're alienated. We need a sense of community, a sense of autonomy and a sense of self-actualization.

Sure, in the same way that a construction site is a "burden" on the landlord. But one day, that construction site will become a big apartment complex and make lots of money.

Children are NOT a burden to society. They are the future of the human race. Able bodied people who won't work are the burden to society. As well as illegal aliens. Not politically correct but the truth.
bijouxbroussard · F
It may sound like a cliche, but children are necessary, and our future. Because while we’re living longer, we won’t be around forever.

Far out in the uncharted backwaters of the unfashionable end of the Western spiral arm of the galaxy ...
This planet has – or rather had – a problem, which was this: most of the people living on it were unhappy for pretty much of the time. Many solutions were suggested for this problem, but most of these were largely concerned with the movement of small green pieces of paper, which was odd because on the whole it wasn't the small green pieces of paper that were unhappy.

After reading your post, I think perhaps YOUR children would be a burden on society. But not children in general.

Not really, they can be seen as an investment in the future also.
If children didn't exist there would be no society.

Of course not. Without children to regenerate it there would very soon not be a society.
Evaluating human worth based on what an individual is or is not producing at a given moment in time is a bery slippery slope.

This is roughly the equivalent of saying that, because you can't eat seeds, planting them is an unnecessary cost to the food supply.

Children grow up eventually, bub. That whole procreation deal they strarted back ..in the beginning of time.
Torsten · 36-40, M
Youre joking right? Without reproduction, society is dead. Children are not a burden in the slightest
