I watched an episode today - actually, I herked and jerked my way through it just to see if I recognized any buildings. I'm almost convinced I saw a shot of an old bar I used to frequent affectionately called the Prince Eddy.

@SleepingWithGhosts Derry’s pretty up there as well. I’ll get caught up on it this weekend. But I stopped watching the Witcher last season, and even then it was a struggle to get through. The first season was chef’s kiss though.

@AngelUnforgiven That’s one that was on my list but I never got around to. I recommend Bloodline if you haven’t watched it yet. Kyle Chandler is such a great actor.

@Dan193 Absentia is a thriller, with a female protagonist, which is probably my favorite genre in shows and movies.
Victoria is a period piece, basically a soap opera, but I like the pageantry.

@dancingtongue OK. First, I know this series is 20 years old now. But boy has it aged well. There is no Trump. But there are the factions and extremes in both left and right. The issues of the day, like crime, the deficit. Tax cuts for the rich, spending cuts for the poor. Corruption in the lobbyists and campaign contributions..Its all there. But what is also there are heroes on both the Republicans and the Democrats, which are fictional, being sorely lacking in reality.
And one thing that made it work for me was the fact that the President throughout was an Economist. So he was speaking reason throughout. We are made to understand that economics only works if you dont mess with it. Pull on the wrong lever and the whole model falls over..As it does over and over.. (I have deliberatel avoided spoilers, so I cant speak specifics.. But love Stockard Channing..)😷

@whowasthatmaskedman Good summation, imho. Was a great view of how sausage should be made in the back room -- and was made in the backrooms -- at that time. Now you have no idea how it is really being made, nor where the flaccid casing with rotting whatever is in it that is oozes out really came from.

The ironic part is that Martin Sheen's role as the Economist President was originally envisioned as an occasional spot appearance on the show.

@dancingtongue The same sort of deals have been done for decades of course. But a tacit respect for the rules used to be in place. It is only recently that budgets and debt ceilings have become weaponised. And there was mention that beating the other side had become more important than doing what was right for the nation or the people..😷
