Although I've never had reason to refer to myself or anyone else as either of those supposed slurs, I do know what it means. I thought it meant pretty much the same thing as being heterosexual..."straight", which is no more a slur than referring to someone as being homosexual, gay or transgender...to me.

I have been on twitter only a few times but I am more of a fan of smaller forums.

As far as "cis", it is mostly the transphobes who hate that word. They call trans "men" and "you are the gender you were born" or "groomer" or "tranny" but then they hear that ONE little word "cis" that is not and was not meant to be offensive and they get upset.
At one time "cis" was "genetic female" or "genetic male", I wonder if the transphobes would be upset by those terms.

@LeopoldBloom I just think sometimes there is way too much focus on things that affect only a small part of society. I am not against it as I am LGBT myself but it just seems like everything is blown out of proportion.

The fact that I move in progressive circles tends to blind me to the fact that there is growing hatred being mobilized against Queer and trans and gender-non=conforming people. That puts family members and friends of mine in real danger.
I am confused and afraid as to what to do about it, though. This is one of those issues where people talk past each other and stereotype each other in the worst ways. I really don't know how to convince anybody who thinks like Musk that trans people are real, vulnerable, and not out to take over the world!!

Even like on local radio, I think every town big and small, especially BFE cities in Kansas, has stations devoted to right wing hatred.
I mean it is f*cked up because society had worked for decades to reverse all that and now it is like they want to go back to the early 1900's.
