Why not both? besides reddit is full of bots and fed gooners
Strongtea · 22-25, M
I find this site more friendly in general than Reddit, I told some stories and asked for advice about things I’d done/what had happened to me etc and some people were pretty mean. I also find this site a bit more user friendly.

Yes, those are really good points. @Jayciedubb
SwampFlower · 31-35, F
Reddit is more impersonal. I like the small town feel of SW
ChiefJustWalks · 26-30
@SwampFlower i was wondering how to word this but yup you said it 👌
Younameit · F
@SwampFlower And sometimes they’re rude af if you ask a very personal question.
BlobbyMcBlobface · 100+, M
It's like the difference between a huge, soulless, franchise owned pub and a small, friendly, family owned one. I prefer the smaller, friendlier one.
lisasweety · F
@BlobbyMcBlobface yeah I can see the difference kinda agree on this 1 😂 😂 😂
ElwoodBlues · M
Every political subreddit becomes an echo chamber by banning people who disagree with the mods. If you want to engage with people who disagree with you, this is better than reddit. However, I happen to know that some folks are on both.
Jayciedubb · 56-60, M
Why do we have to pick one or the other? They both have their good and bad.
From a purely functional perspective, this site is wwwway better. I can scroll all over the place when replying to a comment but reddit only lets me see the comment I'm replying to. Not the post or anything else.
Ive lost many replies I'd been working on in reddit and here, everything stays where I write it and is there til I send it
Reddit is also very clicky and has some stupid rules that can be misunderstood and therefore resulting in loss of karma, which is a whole different issue. ..karma on reddit is another form of social credit like they have in China, which reminds me of another reddit issue. Censorship.
Whenever I see a post asking the importance of karma, I say it's to get us used to the idea of social credit. Each time it gets deleted. ..which proves my point
I had a post that I'd written a long intro that included detailed history. I also mentioned that I'd been hammered in another post and wanted some karma to offset it.
The post got almost 1000 likes and around 200 comments (100 individuals and 100 replies from me).
Then i get a message from one of the mods saying they removed my post due to low effort karma farming. There was nothing low effort about it. But it was getting much more traffic than any of the mods posts.
Also, reddit is set up for trolls. They don't care about the truth or justice.

Have you tried having an opinion on there that veers just 1% off the opinion of a mod?
Have you tried posting on there as an expert in that field to be told 'no experts'? 'no technical/medical advice'. Whilst people who are clearly not experts can diagnose on there in such a gossipy way leaving you not knowing what you can do. Knowing only that these places are filled with angry people who aren't experts in the related field, moaning about other people in the context of that field.(At least in the BPDlovedones sub)

I am on Reddit, too, but I'm also here cause you don't actually get to know anyone on Reddit. This place has familiarity for me now.
HumanEarth · F
Yep, I know you. See we spoken before.
Hi how you doin'?

Because reddit is way too big so it doesn't feel as personal. I don't see the same familiar faces like I do here.
(Sometimes I'll go to reddit if I have a highly specific thought no one here will relate to. Not often though.)

I google and lean more to Reddit and Quora to get opinions. 12 or more years ago I used to go to Yahoo Answers. This site I actually participate but not everything is a topic here unlike Reddit where someone has asked a question on everything.
familyfunguy · M
Forums have more of a nostalgic quality to them. If you miss some social places that weren't quite forums but aren't around any more, SW can help to scratch that itch too (somewhat).
RosaMarie · 46-50, F
I don't look at or post content on reddit that I wouldn't want in public. I'm too worried that it will be hacked or taken over and content will be used against users.
being · 36-40, F
Exactly because it's not bigger. It's like living in the rural Internet here :D
tobynshorty · 51-55, F
I have never been there. I’m faithful to this site.
ViciDraco · 41-45, M
I check reddit now and again, but the division of the subs makes it a different kind of experience. And there are so many people that it seems near impossible to actually try to make connections or know anyone.
Matt85 · 36-40, M
reddit is too big
i get lost
i get lost
SlippingAway · 46-50, F
I am on reddit as well, I just use it for more specific topics and I don't post funny stuff there
Selah ·
That's like asking me why I'm at my house. I live here lol.
I'm on Reddit too lol
chillout17 · 31-35, M
@PepsiColaP under what name?
Younameit · F
@chillout17 Why do you wanna dox her like that lol
@chillout17 ColaPepsiD
BlueVeins · 26-30
Redditors occupy the same space but don't form a cohesive community like we do.

Whay-ell Miss Lisa, we're shore happy y'all foun' yore puhlace awn duh inner-net, EEven ifin it ain't raht cheer with uhs.
MyNameIsHurl · 41-45, F
I dunno
MyNameIsHurl · 41-45, F
@BillyMack well I'm just wondering why they are still here 🤔 maybe just to ask us why we are?
BillyMack · 46-50, M
@MyNameIsHurl could be. Or it’s one of those post questions and leave type things. But if the vibe here is one thing, I can imagine it being 10x more on reddit
lisasweety · F
@MyNameIsHurl I actually logged on here only bc I was doing an inventory of my accounts and passwords and my account at this site caught my eye 😂😂😂
HowtoDestroyAngels · 46-50, M
my friends are here
Reddit is full of people who just want the opportunity to say AKSHULLY and then go on a long speech about how you're wrong and they're right. It's an ego fest in my humble opinion.
Because I don't like Reddit. I prefer a smaller community.
Lugwho · 61-69, M
Never heard of Reddit
EBSVC · 36-40, T
I like that it’s smaller
I like Reddit and SW.
DunningKruger · 61-69, M
Not once has anyone ever responded to a post I made on Reddit.
FeetAreFantastic · 41-45, M
This site is a bit more personal where I know the people.
But Reddit is better in every other way.
So I use both!

I'd probably get banned tbh lol
Kiesel · 56-60, M
I’ve never been on Reddit nor had an inclination to
wackidywack · 26-30
im here for the exact reason that it's smaller
rinkydinkydoink · M
Our oddballs on SW are friendlier.

banned from reddit
Wolf38g · F
@sp1dwoOfe221 why
HumanEarth · F
Reddit uses censorship and here don't. Here you almost have an open microphone and say anything you want.
CrazyMusicLover · 31-35
@HumanEarth It's when you cuss without any censorship. 😆 I know because those posts typically have 0-1 views for hours.
HumanEarth · F
I do swear a lot don't I 😂😂😂
CrazyMusicLover · 31-35
@HumanEarth We don't know because those posts are hidden. 😆
Are you on the look out for newbies to Reddit, by any chance?
Neoerectus · M
Apples, oranges, potatoes....
ninalanyon · 61-69, T
They serve different purposes.
BillyMack · 46-50, M
Less bots.
zentic · 26-30, M
Because it is smaller than reddit.
reddit has a rating system and only allows content based on the average approved opinion
on this site it is immediately clear that there is no point in posting intellectual content here

@HootyTheNightOwl just random banning?
HootyTheNightOwl · 41-45
@BillyMack Felt like it... It's illegal to encourage others to commit suicide - but you get perma banned for encouraging others to look at the bigger picture. 🤷♀🤷♀🤷♀
BillyMack · 46-50, M
@HootyTheNightOwl so you got banned for being inhumane? And this is surprising to you?
empanadas · 31-35, M
Reddit is too extreme
swirlie · 31-35
Why are you still here then?
