Sometimes I wish there were way less Americans on SW

Some Americans are exhausting.

Thank God the world is enormous, and America is only 350 million people and less then a 1/3 of that is republican, and probably maybe 1/2 of them are actually racists, homophobic, fascists, bigots and political idiots.

Still I wish less of them were on here. I wish more people from other countries were on SW.

Thank God America is small in comparison to the world. I'd hate it if the world was all like America
BlueVeins · 22-25
I will invite more Americans here out of spite
SW-User
@PinkstarburstHmmm where did slavery establish a foothold? Where do you still see Confederate flags flying? Where do you find the highest number of recorded hate crimes against Black and ethnic minorities? The Deep South.

Stop making excuses for them. Take Trump, for example.He was supposed to be the sort of slick, fast-talking New Yorker that people in the Deep South always claimed to despise. He blew the racist dog-whistle and look what happened.
@SW-User
Slavery was prominent in the entire United States. The North wanted it abolished and the South didn’t, hence the Civil War. Our country has come a long way since then believe it or not. Confederate flags fly everywhere, more so since Trump joined the political fray. white supremacist groups are scattered all over our country. It’s ludicrous to target a specific region when hate racial and ethnic hate abounds in 50 states And it’s disgusting, ignorant, and abhorrent. And… Hate is hate. What’s even more disturbing is the hate forming against each other based on political party. To disagree on a platform sparks violence.
Heartlander · 80-89, M
@BlueVeins Reminds me of those old newsreels where millions and millions of Austrians, Dutch, Italians, French, Hungarians, etc. , etc. cheered the arrival of Hitler's storm troopers. Finally!! someone to rescue the people from freedom. :)

Scribbles · 36-40, F
@jackjjackson Sorry, I missed this earlier. I agree with you.

It is confusing...
If America is so bad
why do so many people keep trying to go to America
legally or not
there may be problems and issue with America
but yet still so many people risk their lives to go there
IsaacDeSnuts · 22-25, M
I really wonder where are you getting your numbers from at this point. Have you asked people or have done a survey to check if they're bigots, racists and all the otjer nice thinfs that you have mentioned.

Maybe if you dont like americans, wouldnt it be smarter for YOU to leave Sw instead 🤷‍♀️
Scribbles · 36-40, F
@IsaacDeSnuts I'm being a bit hyperbolic and unfair. Not all republicans are trash. But there seems to be a lot of them that are openly racist, violent, homophobic, etc and proud of it. Those are the ones that I'm exhausted of.
Heartlander · 80-89, M
Hmmm? why is is being homophobic better or worse than being straightaphobic? And how is being a white racist different from being a black racist?

You seem to have a deep hatred for white, straight republicans. Maybe you should find a social media site and country that shares your feelings?

@SW-User that is only an opinion though

@SW-User Then obviously you must be American.
@kodiac no a leprechaun actually
luckranger71 · 51-55, M
I think that the sociopath American troll/racist/ultra nationalist contingent is over represented on SW in comparison to their actual numbers. But I find them easy to ignore unless I feel like poking the bear 😂.

That said, there’s a fair number of Canadian, Australian and English sociopaths on here as well. For whom there is even less excuse as they should know better.
@luckranger71 Thank you for this.
Scribbles · 36-40, F
@luckranger71 Very true, I'm being unfair. But at the same time...this is how Americans are largely seen by the world. It's embarrassing to be American at this point.
@Scribbles I’m not so much embarrassed as discouraged that others are so narrow-minded to think that our citizens are any different than theirs. Common sense should tell them that the media does not represent the majority.
SunshineGirl · 36-40, F
There are some really nice Americans here as well 🙂💖

I don't find Americans any more or less bigoted, racist or homophobic than most European nations. What can be different is the conviction that one is always right and anyone who ventures a contrary opinion is the anti-christ at worst, or a misguided village idiot at best. The lack of nuance is often exhausting 😩
Scribbles · 36-40, F
@SunshineGirl you are right. I just felt exasperated this morning and threw a fit because a handful of people are getting on my nerves.
SunshineGirl · 36-40, F
@Scribbles Well, you certainly created a lot of interest! Hope you're feeling a little less exasperated now 🙂 xx
Scribbles · 36-40, F
@SunshineGirl I am feeling better, thanks 🤗
As an American I agree. lol

There are many very lovely Americans both on SW and in the real world. It's just that the trouble-makers make a lot of noise, both in the real world and on SW.
@ServantOfTheGoddess extremists always suck all the oxygen out of the room, no matter how small their group.

@Morrowind Not all old people. 🤨
BackyardShaman · 61-69, M
I’m from the USA and don’t fit those profiles at all. However, I’m not taking a defensive stance on your post because I totally understand what you’re seeing from these idiotic people. I have roughly 400 or so of those profiles blocked and rarely see any GOP profiles on here. Many of these profiles are actually BOTS and originate from outside the USA, as well as from within our borders. I would say your calculations are about right on the numbers of GOP and how many of those are horrible people.

Ducky · 31-35, F
As an American myself, I find this utterly brazen post of yours to be absolutely, unequivocally, so gawd damn.... refreshing! 😄

Seriously, gotta love the typical knee-jerk reactions of triggered Americans. "Oh, you think we're exhausting, rude and іdiotic, huh? Well we'll show you by acting like a bunch of obnoxious rеtards!"

Sure, your statements might be a bit unfair from a logical standpoint, but at the time, all the moronic comments you're getting from butthurt Americans just proves your point and reinforces what you said to where it's fair enough.

The funniest thing about all of this is it could very easily be turned around on you to make you look bad if all my fellow bright and open-minded Americans would just stop, think for a moment and swallow their pride so they could cordially tell you how they find your statements very distasteful. But not many Americans are smart enough to have that sort of rationality, so again, you've only been proven correct. 😂
Soph03 · 18-21, F
@Ducky @samueltyler2 look and learn
deadgerbil · 22-25
I agree with you, that subset of Americans can be pretty repulsive
Scribbles · 36-40, F
@deadgerbil Yeah, I just grew really fed up with some this morning. Idk.
samueltyler2 · 80-89, M
@Soph03 i was going to ignore this, but you need to explain how your comment relates to anything stated here.

I enjoy learning from people of other cultures and ethnic backgrounds. Rather than wishing for fewer people from the US, and we have no way of truly knowing what percentage of SW users are from the US, i would like to have more people from areas grossly under-represented, but many of those, who unfortunately are also socio-economically disadvantaged, and do not have the access to the technology required this are unlikely to appear here.
samueltyler2 · 80-89, M
@Soph03 oh, is that what you are arguing about. First, i didn't tell an Israeli that I feel that way. I dontell anyone who asks, what my personal experience was. It was MY experience, and that is something you have to accept as my personal experience, it is not an arguable point. I did allow my children, and now my grandson, to travel there. They were and will be well.protectrd, and probably, hopefully, will not experience what i personally experienced. You are being insensitive to people's personal life experiences.
Soph03 · 18-21, F
@samueltyler2 this whole time you keep mentioning your experience which is exactly what the original commentor said about being too focused on 'me' instead of 'us' the argument is that Americans at large can be obnoxious and you keep bringing this back about yourself
samueltyler2 · 80-89, M
@Soph03 i don't like to argue silly things, particularly in a public forum. I suggest you re-read the initial post. It says nothing about Americans, i assume to OP meant that those of us living in the USA, being particularly self centered. I believe that it is what you wanted the poster to say. It was far more wide reaching about bigotry, racism, etc.

I also suggest you re-read aje another look at our previous chats. You said, upon returning home from a trip to another country, that your returned safely. I asked why, since only once in my life I felt that way. You asked what happened and I told you of my personal experiences as a "tourist" on Israel. I pointed out that unlike most tourists to Israel, I made the mistake of not joining a scheduled group. I pointed out that, as a result of this, I felt frightened after experiencing a bud being blown up less than 300 yards from where i was, having the rental car stopped by the Army to.bebsesrcjrd, because there was a report of terrorists in the area and they wanted to be sure our car had not been compromised by bomb. You then started off on my stereotyping all of Israel. I tried to explain them, and now, i was clarifying a particular event.

I am by no means perfect, far from it, but if I make a mistake I apologize for it. If I am wrong about a statement, I correct it.

Do you really stereotype all "Americans, at large," as obnoxious? I hope not, but it is what you have written.
Adogslife · 61-69, M
American, liberal Republican.

I’m sorry to disappoint, but racism, bigotry, homophobia and fascism just aren’t part of the program.

Now, if you’d like to criticize me for preferring smaller government or my disbelief in many social programs, that’s a different issue.

Perhaps you should lobby for a “Block Americans” button. That should make you happy with your own prejudice.
Ozuye502 · 36-40, M
@Scribbles you do realize that government is the most ineffective way of running things regardless of location.
Adogslife · 61-69, M
@Ozuye502
so basically you are confused
The party may be, I’m not. The Republicans Trump fostered are too far to the right. It has never been that far right in my lifetime.
So yes, I’m able to disagree with my own party and vote accordingly should it be warranted.
Ozuye502 · 36-40, M
@Adogslife so essential your a libertarian? But in all actually the left has gone so far left that the space for argument on left vs right the idea of a what is acceptable as a right wing candidate has shifted to the left. Trump whole platform of America first was a common goal in the 40s and it wasn't until the obama administration that it changed. Some would argue that it started before. Trump did some good economicly until covid hit and questionable nature of the biden election only helped in dividing this country. Id actually argue that Trump is a conservative leaning centrist. But i do see how his draw is a big deal.
CrazyMusicLover · 31-35
I don't mind those who are here (I blocked nutjobs) but it would be definitely more interesting to have more people from all over the world.

@Pinkstarburst oh yeah its all over. But were just front of the line cause were the "super power" of the world or what have you be it
Scribbles · 36-40, F
@Spnk8 Thanks. I needed to reminded of that.
Spnk8 · 36-40, M
@Scribbles no problem. Its easy for other countries to see how we might seem like cause were in the spot light of EVERYONE else its hard being American cause you're judged for EVERYTHING our government does or thinks so other countries go off ehat the media and stuff they WANT the world to see instead of what is REALLY happening and how it REALLY is
We aren’t all narcissistic psychos but I can see how so many people who don’t see eye to eye on things with you could get annoying.

I feel that way with people who put their feet up on the dashboard. There’s way too many of them on the roads. And don’t get me started with feet hanging out the window.

Miram · 31-35, F
@Scribbles

Regardless of how you felt, there are certainly too many bigots in this website. If they cared to improve the image of their country, they would be spending this same amount of energy to reply to them and set them straight. It shouldn't matter how many exist as much as the fact that they do exist enough to hijack the politics tab.

Yes, tea and gluten free biscuits plz 😌

Ozuye502 · 36-40, M
Ah just another key board activist who has never seen what real Americans are capable of. My suggestion look into the Cajun navy. You say Republicans are bad but don't realize that great individuals of history like Abraham Lincoln were Republicans. While democrat ideas led to the creation of groups like the new black pather party as well as the KKK.
Bigotry is not part of the program (unlike Ukraine's Zarcon unit) and i suggest you look up the definition of fascism because that is not an American idology. Its a European one.
Im a libertarian i believe that the mixed race nudist same sex couple on the other side of town should be able to protect their Marijuana farm with machine guns.

People, in general, are exhausting. Other countries are no different and no more perfect than the U.S. There’s a higher population here because it’s a U.S.-based site. Also, you would be surprised to know that the high population is actually North American (U.S. AND Canada) during these hours.
