This is a fine example of where the forest gets lost for the trees. No one in their right mind could see a sign like that as condoning vile behavior.
There is a culture of overly-sensitive nitpicking in the US where people crave authority and control so badly that they'll find offense to something solely as a justification to enforce their will on others. It's a form of emotional manipulation that doesn't really get discussed as much as it should. Labeling everything as bigoted or harmful to children is minimizing actual examples of such simply to pompously promote yourself as a paragon of virtue. It's morally bankrupt

@TinyViolins This is true, there is no way that sign was harmful at all.
SatanBurger · 36-40, F
@TinyViolins plus the sign been there for four years

No surprise. I think it is just a peanut in the bigger t*rd known as "the school system".
Not even about politics. What it IS - anything that might bring a brief smile, or make the student's day just a little more sufferable, the school system does not allow.
It's like if the kids are not bored and miserable the entire time, the school is not happy.
Do you remember our respective school daze, er, days, when anything the students found for entertainment, the district soon forbode?
Plus, these principals and admins think too highly of themselves.
When I was in 4th grade, in our weekly school news letter, they announced a poetry contest. First and second prize - have lunch with the principal and vice principal.
WHAT IN SAM H3LL KIND OF AWARD IS THAT?
My dad saw that and in a very proud tone said, "I wonder if *I* might have a chance?" I was horrified until my mom started laughing.
I am just glad I will never have to d*ck with the school system again.

@HoeBag Schools are made to conform, they aren't even teaching like how humans naturally learn anyways, everything we do is counter intuitive to how we are.

@SatanBurger I guess schools in a lot of nations are like that.
Ya know though, school was by far the strictest "job" most of us have ever had. I know from experience that not even the military is as strict as school. Well maybe basic training but after that, not really.

Wow. I can't believe the school would do that. That's a good teacher
ArishMell · 70-79, M
Oh, so expressing a personal opinion is wrong?
If so, how did the one issuing the order consider the sign wrong in principle, let alone manage to think it "racist"( ???) ...?
For making such an order admits a personal opinion..... Surely?

@ArishMell The sign isn't racist, the school was saying that not everyone agreed with what the sign read meaning that not everyone agrees that all are welcomed. So that implies that the school was worried or would piss the racists off.
The school also literally stated that the sign counts only as an opinion.

@SatanBurger How dare you infringe on my right to exclude you and infringe on yours. 🤪
ArishMell · 70-79, M
@SatanBurger Oh - I did not see anything wrong with the sign at all, and found it puzzling that someone in some committee was upset by it and ordered its removal.
Was going to say this sounds like a 'The Onion' article but someone beat me to it. The current administration will put them out of business.
swirlie · 31-35, F
I actually agree with taking the sign down.
What school classroom anywhere in the USA would welcome MAGA-taught kids who came to school spewing the right-wing bile of their MAGA-inspired parents?

@swirlie So that is the story behind why the trumps have been said to avoid the draft.
Funny thing though, I imagine it was republican supporters who cried the most about Clinton doing the same thing. I know that was 30 years ago but anyways.
Sounds though like DJT is a descendant of nazi'ism

Yes, very true! Then Elon and mommy fled from South Africa (where he was born) to Canada when Elon was a young teenager where he attended high school and he and mommy became Canadian citizens to make it all work.
Mommy then pursued a modeling career in Los Angeles and dragged teenaged son Elon to the USA with her, where they both became US citizens to make it all work.
There is a petition going on right now in Canada where people are demanding that Elon's Canadian citizenship be revoked by the Canadian government.

Gotta love Idaho. A group of people whom are easily manipulated by the local news and by politicians. One thing people of Idaho will never be accused of is being forward thinking or progressive in their justice system.
That's lousy
Miram · 31-35, F
I would just rewrite it in a different language.
SatanBurger · 36-40, F
@Miram Me too lol, technically it goes around the rules which would be a loophole
Miram · 31-35, F
@SatanBurger I would also add a segment, --everyone is welcomed except people who don't want everyone to be welcomed-
SatanBurger · 36-40, F
@Miram That's funny but I would do exactly that
SunshineGirl · 36-40, F
Tall flowers will be cut down in the current political environment . .

Exactly
Its offensive to racists

Maybe replace it with a sign that says bugger off?

School board is forcing brainwashing and their dictatorship

It's official. Satire is dead. Reality has become too stuріԁ.
HoeBag · 51-55, F
@LordShadowfire Who needs The Onion anymore?
SatanBurger · 36-40, F
@LordShadowfire This is actually true and literal.

@SatanBurger What if someone told conservatives that there are 50 genders and they WILL learn and respect the pronouns of all 50?
They would qu33f in instead of out.
