Idaho classroom ordered to take down a sign that read "Everyone is Welcomed Here," after it was found to be offensive towards racists.

Apparently the school in exact words, told the teacher that a sign in her classroom that read "everyone is welcomed here," counts as a personal opinion and wasn't allowed. This was after four years it was hung there. The school said that the sign was offensive to people who didn't believe that and it wasn't acceptable.

She was specifically told that not everyone believes everyone is welcome and therefore counts as a personal opinion.

Oh, so expressing a personal opinion is wrong?

If so, how did the one issuing the order consider the sign wrong in principle, let alone manage to think it "racist"( ???) ...?

For making such an order admits a personal opinion..... Surely?

@ArishMell And generally inclusion and accpetance is the policy of schoolboards at least in Canada.

@ArishMell The sign isn't racist, the school was saying that not everyone agreed with what the sign read meaning that not everyone agrees that all are welcomed. So that implies that the school was worried or would piss the racists off.

The school also literally stated that the sign counts only as an opinion.

@SatanBurger How dare you infringe on my right to exclude you and infringe on yours. 🤪

@SatanBurger Oh - I did not see anything wrong with the sign at all, and found it puzzling that someone in some committee was upset by it and ordered its removal.
