Do you consider yourself a religious person?

TheWildEcho · 56-60, M
No, im a Christian which isn't about religion but a relationship with the living God
TheWildEcho · 56-60, M
@NoGamesTolerated of course i will, but nothing really to apologise for!!
@TheWildEcho I did need to because it made me angry.

Sorry your reply just seemed to be correcting me… and all I meant was good.

Sometimes when a scripture comes to my mind in interacting on the board or in PMs I post scripture/s … to the person I’m communicating with. You are the one person here that I think is very well grounded in the faith and I’ve never seen a post by you or a comment made by you that I don’t wholeheartedly agree with. 🙂
@NoGamesTolerated Not trying to sound cheesy. 🙂
No … not at all … But I have faith … 🌹

I figured early on the way adults made such a big deal about Santa, the tooth fairy and the Easter Bunny they had to be ruses, too. Everything pushed too hard is a lie.
I like living in an evidence based world. Reading mythology is akin to novels and short stories.
No. I try to be a faithful servant to Jesus Christ. I fail a lot.
I think following religion tends to be more like representing a culture and traditions. That’s often Pharisee-like. I don’t do that.
@Colonelmustardseed Yeah? You got photos of him?
@LordShadowfire Like I said, if someone actually did want proof, I pray God shows it. There’s nothing I can say to change anyone’s mind.

Don't give up, my friend. Jesus never did give up on us even when he "died" on Good Friday. Today is Saturday. Jesus will rise again (symbolically) tomorrow on Easter Sunday.
kodiac · 22-25, M
No i learned about religion the hard way.
AthrillatheHunt · 51-55, M
@kodiac I was gunna make a joke about it being a Catholic priest but I won’t , on account of it being st pattys day and all.
kodiac · 22-25, M
@AthrillatheHunt It was a group of catholic priests actually.
TheFragile · 46-50, M
No, I consider myself to be spiritual.
WaryWitchWandering · 36-40, F
AthrillatheHunt · 51-55, M
I no longer do and I need to change that .
hippyjoe1955 · 61-69, M
Do I believe certain rites are important? Yes. Do I believe I have to believe what an institution says I must believe? No.
AthrillatheHunt · 51-55, M
@hippyjoe1955 well put Joe.
I’m a born again Christian.

John 3:3
King James Version
3 Jesus answered and said unto him, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God.
@robertsnj no no according to the archives it’s the same thing!

@NoGamesTolerated And yes indeed I have it and use it!
@robertsnj this is my Bible.

Bumbles · 51-55, M
Nope. I don’t possess any beliefs of dieties. Zero. Zilch. Nada.
sree251 · 41-45, M
@Bumbles What are you? A rattlesnake?
Bumbles · 51-55, M
@sree251 Cobra, Bro.
twistedrope · 26-30, M
If you call atheism a religion I guess. I'm only religious when asked about my religion in my total utter closed mindedness to all possibility of a religious deity.

I am however interested in such a beliefs manifestation in those who believe it. Why I love and use the serenity prayer.
@twistedrope I have a hypothesis about that. I think that the human brain is capable of manifesting things that society tells us are impossible, and so people compartmentalize, and attribute their own abilities to a deity.
robertsnj · 56-60, M
@twistedrope high five fellow atheist here.
Yes, but, it’s a work in progress.
TheWildEcho · 56-60, M
@SheCallsMeCrushDaddy it is with all of us
robertsnj · 56-60, M
@SheCallsMeCrushDaddy progress towards what?

I don't believe in Religion. only Christ
robertsnj · 56-60, M
no, dont believe in God / atheist.

It is an interesting questions though. It is funny how so many people split hairs on believing in a God that is spefic to that religion (usually Jesus) and than reject the religion itself.

Will cruise this thread--curious how others anser.
RenFur · 70-79, M
@robertsnj

Yours is a welcome, mature response. The interest in what others have to say, especially.
Mardrae · F
Not the least bit religious, but very spiritual.
Mardrae · F
@LordShadowfire I may not know anything about politics but it's incredibly disrespectful of you to call me ignorant.
@Mardrae Why? Ignorant just means you don't know. If I was trying to be disrespectful, I can think of a number of names I'd call you before I would use the word ignorant.

Not in the least. I do believe in God, I believe God is in all the Holy Books, but I do not believe in Doctrine of said Holy Books. I believe in the Abrahamic God, but I do not believe that God has a name, a gender nor any sexuality. God is in all his creation.

fun4us2b · M
I potentially could be on my own, but not in a church setting.
robertsnj · 56-60, M
@fun4us2b i find all of these spirtitual but not religious posts fascinating. Would one of you consider making a thread on that some day?
fun4us2b · M
@robertsnj I think there have been posts here discussing how religion and beliefs are personal.
darkmere1983 · 46-50, M
i'm a roman catholic, although not devout.
SnailTeeth · 36-40
Just about everyone is naturally predisposed to pushing the B.F. Skinner miracle button. It's why most people waste their lives languishing.
Whether they identify that behavior as religious, or not.
robertsnj · 56-60, M
@SnailTeeth I apologize for being confused but how are you linking Operant conditioning t the thread's OP?
SnailTeeth · 36-40
@robertsnj People equating Faith/Coincidence, with Cause/Effect.

Especially since it's Ramadan.
robertsnj · 56-60, M
@SnailTeeth now that makes sense --i was a bit lost
morrgin · F
No, but I know how to act and sound like one
thepreposterouspanda · 36-40, M
Nope, I'm very anti religion.

@jshm2
Everyone is a religious person, it's just matter of which one.
Which one is yours?
Diotrephes · 70-79, M
According to the Bible and to the Koran, religious people love to do animal (and even human) sacrifies. Have you sacrified any animals lately? If not, why not?
sree251 · 41-45, M
@Diotrephes Godless secular atheists love to sacrifice animals also: human beings, in the name of defending human rights, freedom, and democracy.
