They are in contradiction of each other

There are huge differences between the Quran and the Bible, and it's important to know them. As of 2021, there were ten Muslim-majority countries where apostasy from ISLAM was PUNISHABLE BY DEATH. Most punishment is extra-judicial/vigilante, and most executions are perpetrated by jihadist and "takfiri" insurgents (al-Qaeda, ISIL/ISIS/IS/Daesh, the GIA, and the Taliban).

The difference in the Quran and the Bible, is that Muslims believe that their Quran is only for Muslims. But God said Jesus died for the whole world, not just some; the Bible is God's love letter to all of mankind as a guide for life...a spiritual roadmap...a light to our path, and tells us exactly how to have eternal life in heaven. God loves everyone and He turns no one away because that would not be a loving God. Obviously not the god of the Quran, who only accepts certain people. They also say they love God, but they dishonor him by worshiping idols, which is one of God's first Commandments. "Thou shalt have no other gods before me!" Not idols, not statues, not anything.

One of the biggest differences I can see, and there are many, but this stands out because the Quran contains a provision that says 'he who has embraced ISLAM and then abandons it will receive punishment in hell after Judgment Day. Notice that they say that it is not from rejecting Christ as Savior, that matters, but abandoning their particular religion. Anyone in the world who rejects Islam and the Quran are going to hell, according to them. However, Jesus said he died for everyone in the whole world, so that they could all be saved! He doesn't play favorites.

Muslims believe the angel Gabriel is the Holy Spirit in Islam. Christians do not. Muslims don't believe in the trinity, which makes up the Holy Spirit, God the Father, and God the Son.

They also say they don't worship angels. How can the Holy Spirit be the angel, Gabriel, if they don't worship angels? What is his appointment/purpose in salvation? What makes Gabriel worthy to play a part in salvation? Angels cannot even forgive us of our sins. Why would God appoint Gabriel as Holy Spirit? All angels are just ministering spirits. That is the only job God ministered to them. Not to save, but only give protection at times, but we are not to worship them or pray to them. God's Word makes that crystal clear. Their abilities are limited.

They don't believe that Jesus is the Savior of the world. In the Quran, Jesus is described as the Messiah (al-Masīḥ), miraculously born of a virgin, performing miracles, accompanied by his disciples, rejected by the Jewish religious establishment, but not as crucified or dying on the cross (nor resurrected).

@LadyGrace
No. Don't misquote me. The following quote came from Islam beliefs: Anyone in the world who rejects Islam and the Quran are going to hell, according to them
Yes. This was my point

Everyone who rejects Jesus as lord and savior who died for their sins and then rejects the bible is going to hell, right?

This is the same thing
Iwantyourhotwife · 22-25
@LadyGrace and I prefer not to deal with two tangent things, but I'll show courtesy if you really want me to address that image you shared. Those verses do not show this quote of yours:
The difference in the Quran and the Bible, is that Muslims believe that their Quran is only for Muslims

And if you read those, you can see some clear deception. I picked a random one and already saw it wasn't even a proper translation. Perhaps you can read over it again
@Iwantyourhotwife Kuran 3:85 means the same thing. No deception on my part, but it doesn't get clearer than that. Koran 8:12 is another that confirms that Muslims believe that their Quran is only for Muslims. Perhaps you're not willing to accept that but that's exactly what it says.
Jayciedubb · 56-60, M
I don't know enough about the old or new testament or the Quran to say anything about it. I've been told by some Muslim friends that Jesus is in the Quran but he's a prophet, not the son of God.

Im only chiming in here because I have a question that has been puzzling me for a while. Technically speaking, since Jesus is the son of God, isn't it a violation of the 10 Commandments to pray to Jesus? Also to wear the crucifix?
Jayciedubb · 56-60, M
@LadyGrace i wasn't implying that it would be God playing any tricks. Such a trick wouldn't serve God. It would serve Satan. Aren't the Romans who created the Roman Catholic Church the same Romans who tortured Jesus to death?

How soon after they killed him did they invent Catholicism?..where one must talk to God through them because as all knowing as God is, he/she/they only speaks/speak Latin.

My journey has been very personal and i would never refer to any of it as a path to God for anyone but me. That said, there's one anecdote that I'll mention. Its 100% true but my word is the only proof i have. As a plumber in heavy construction, I have wrecked my body over the years and required a few surgeries to my hands and knees. The last surgery i had, as usual, it started with me counting backwards from 100. I get to 98 or 97 then time seems to stand still. If you were to wake up a second, a minute, hour, day later, you would only know that you were counting backwards, then woke up and it wasn't at 96 or 95. You know time had passed but no clue as to how much. There are no dreams, as far as my experience has been.

On that last one, i became aware of my conscience and i was having a conversation with what seemed to be a beautiful gathering of plasma or something. We were just "shooting the breeze" as they say. We were doing it without the use of any language or voices. I don't recall having any kind of physical appearance. It was just my mind. I was being reassured that everything was ok and i was living a good life. We were in the middle of that conversation when i became aware of my conscience and i realized that i dont know how to talk without speaking but i was doing it. That's when it occurred to me that i might be talking to God or a representative. I got so excited and asked if it was God. The reply i got was that it was time for me to wake up.

That's when i remembered that i have a past with people in it and the last thing i was asked to do was count backwards. I knew i never finished and that startled me awake. I opened my eyes to a bunch of concerned looking faces, one of them belonging the surgeon who had also performed a couple other surgeries on one of my knees. He looked relieved and said if i ever did that again, he'd kill me. I asked him what he was talking about, he said, "nothing. Welcome back." Then checked my vitals and performed all the other post op procedures , then walked away without saying anything else about it. Nobody said anything else about it.

I like you, Ladygrace. I respect you, I appreciate your opinions and enjoy reading your content. I don't want to hurt your feelings with my opinions, so I've really been holding back. I have so many questions that can only be answered with faith. I have no faith. I'm a combat veteran with PTSD. I trust nobody merely on their word.

An innocent question i would ask is, what happened to all the people who were born sinners and lived sinful lives then died, before Jesus died for everyone's sins? Where did their
souls go when they died? 2023 years wasn't that long ago compared to the history of the modern human.

I believe in physics. One of the basic laws of physics is that energy can't be created or destroyed. Life is energy. Maybe they say we're all God's children because were manifestations of God's energy that goes back to god when we're done.

What if we're all born sinners because we had to be Sinners to be born? What if we're here to live off our sins, like life is a sentence? Maybe we've all got life sentences ? Maybe that's why if you spell live backwards, it spells evil?. I know it only works in the English language , but it's something to think about.

Maybe that's why suicide is a sin because it's like escaping without completing your sentence?
@Jayciedubb I want to answer this when I can give it the time it deserves and you deserve. But always know that I'm no better than anybody else and you can ask me any questions. I would really be honored. No question is stupid. I get my answers from God's Word alone. God likes us to ask questions. It's important. Have a good night and God bless you. God bless you and thank you for your service. 🙏❤🤗 i have the utmost respect for you. And I can't tell you how sorry I am for your injuries.
Jayciedubb · 56-60, M
@LadyGrace thanks for your reply. Dont worry, i don't put people on pedestals. My concern is with the way debate or sell my points. I've spent my whole adult life either in the US ARMY or on heavy construction sites communicating with and arguing with some hard headed, out spoken, cold blooded individuals. Sometimes my replies cut to the core/quick. Ive been working on my patience and my delivery but people still read me in the wrong voice a lot, especially when im being clear and concise .

My injuries helped make me who I am. I literally never think anything about them, unless its about any lesson m may have learned from them. I really appreciate that you have generated a good sympathy, but, really, it's wasted on me. It's my belief, based on my observations, that third party sympathy could do more harm than good. Sometimes, depending on the source, sympathy can wobble the strength of the person who's sympathized with. It could cause them to feel sorry for themselves, then stop putting their best foot forwards when starting their days. Im just rambling on now..

Ultimately, i genuinely appreciate that you care. Thanks for caring
helenS · 36-40, F
According to Catholic teaching, the "New Testament" is not the only source of Divine Revelation. The three sources of Revelation are Scripture, Tradition, and the Magisterium, all three of which are infallible.
Welcome to SW, by the way! 🌷
@helenS
Everyone in the Church is a sinner, from a Chaplain in a remote village up to the Holy Father. We are all sinners, we need salvation, and we can get salvationonlythrough Christ, and we can get to Christ only through his mystical body, the Church.

If I could, let me tweek that just a little bit, please, according to His Word.

Everyone in the Church is a sinner
, SO RIGHT.

from a Chaplain in a remote village up to the Holy Father.

Scripture says no one is Holy, but God. Not even the priest. He was born with sin, like anyone else, so he cannot forgive our sins. We go straight to Jesus for that. Jesus is our only Mediator between God and man. 1 Timothy 2:5 Scripture says call no one holy, but God.

We are all sinners, we need salvation, and we can get salvationonlythrough Christ,
Yes. You got it!

and we can get to Christ only through his mystical body, the Church.

We can get to Christ through prayer, and by reading His Word by faith, or by word of testimony, or from teachers/ministers, who teach the true gospel, but Jesus said to be careful who we believe, because not all teachers and ministers preach the true Word of God. They sometimes water it down, or teach falsely, and claim that that's what the Bible says, but sometimes they don't teach what the Bible says. They don't know their Bible and that's why Jesus said to test the spirits and see who is telling you the truth. In fact, Jesus said if what a teacher or preacher tells you does not match up exactly with the Word of God, then you will know that they are a false teacher, and leave them. Look at this verse:

Galatians 1:8KJV: But though we, or an angel from heaven, preach any other gospel unto you than that which we have preached unto you, let him be accursed.

@helenS Are you a follower of Christ, Helen? Have you invited him into your heart in life as Savior? I ask because I saw your reply on another post:

helenS·36-40, F

I'm so glad that God doesn't exist. That old scarecrow isn't scary anymore

So I guess all this time you've been lying to me. Real nice.
helenS · 36-40, F
@LadyGrace I haven't been lying to you. I just stated some facts about Catholic thinking, on which you replied, so we had a fruitful discussion.
I was raised Catholic. My relation to God is probably more complicated than yours. It's of the "not with you and not without you" type.

Muslims believe that Jesus was a prophet rather than the son of God.

God does exist.
Religion is man made.
Simple answer. 🙂
sree251 · 41-45, M
@LadyGrace I am being very upfront with what I say. You should not be afraid if you state something you mean. Jesus never backtracked, and that's why he got nailed to the cross. Did he care? NO! And that is what integrity is all about. Say what you mean and stand by it.

You stated something bold, and I respect you for it. I do stand with your bold statement: God has nothing to do with religion; and religion is man-made philosophy.

Don't chicken out. It is not Christlike.
sree251 · 41-45, M
@LadyGrace You asked: "and what is this woke business?"

You know darn well what this woke business is all about. It is cancel culture and a war against Christianity in America. Woke people regard Christian morality as a pain in the butt and oppressive. It is unfortunate for them because traditional American jurisprudence has shaped laws in America. Woke people are not merely atheist.They regard the Christian God as obnoxious; and by extension, anyone who worships that God is also obnoxious.
@sree251 Life is too short to care about your lies and toxicity. You're consistent ignorance is not my problem. Bye.
Iwantyourhotwife · 22-25
Relation:

1. Both have a prophet (whether they consider him a part or God or not) that they believe and trust to have a revelation from God
2. Both believe the scripture is divine and from the Almighty Creator that originated all of existence that isn't Himself
3. Both consider salvation to be based on the teachings in their respectuve scripture
4. Both consider their scriptures to contain truth
5. Both consider their scriptures to contain prophecies that are to come true, since the revelation is with divine knowledge that should be able to clearly see the future

Of course there are differences as well
@Iwantyourhotwife No, their beliefs are very different from Christians. The whole truth is.... you only told part of it. Yes, Muslims believe in the Almighty Creator, but they do not recognize Jesus as Savior nor to be the Son of God. Did you know that Jesus is the second person of the trinity as stated in Scripture and that He also took part in the creation of this world?

The Apostle Paul puts it a lot more succinctly: “For all things in heaven and on earth, visible and invisible, . . . were created in Him ['God's beloved Son']. [Which is to say that] all things exist as created through Him and for Him” (Colossians 1:16).

Is the Lord the Creator of all things?

Genesis 1:1, the first chapter and the first verse in the Bible show us who our God is. He is CREATOR. He is not “a” creator or someone who simply “creates,” He is THE Creator, because “Through Him all things were made; without Him, nothing was made that has been made” (John 1:3).
Iwantyourhotwife · 22-25
@LadyGrace yes. I know that in Christianity, Jesus is the second person of the holy trinity and the Holy Spirit is the third. The first is the Father. This is what I was mentioning by mentioning the triune Godhead/God concept in Christian teachings (The Father, Son, and Holy Spirit).

I did not know that Christianity teaches that Jesus helped create the world. I thank you for sharing that with me.

So yeah, considering that, I think we are on the same page here
@Iwantyourhotwife it's not just Christianity that teaches that Jesus helped create the world. It's what the Bible teaches.
Adstar · 56-60, M
It's doesn't relate.. As a Christian i believe muhammad and the quran are not inspired by the God of Abraham.. Just as i do not recognize Joseph Smith or the mormon book as being inspired from the God of Abraham..
Adstar · 56-60, M
@deadgerbil I doubt you will find any religous book that does not have truth in it.. But the lies within will be what kills.. You can make poison taste nice if you mix it with enough tasty food..

Well they're clearly incompatible since that's also in essence the view of the New Testament!

The age of prophets closed with John the Baptist, in the Christian view. Although that isn't to say that the writings of early Christians (not ofc counting those who wrote the letters in the New Testament itself) aren't considered important. (Well, they are by Catholics, the Orthodox, and others with a sense of Christianity's own past, anyway).
@Persephonee
The age of prophets closed with John the Baptist, in the Christian view.

In Christianity, the last prophet of the Old Covenant before the arrival of Jesus isJohn the Baptist(cf. Luke 16:16). The Eastern Orthodox Church holds that Malachi was the "Seal of Prophets" in the Old Testament. However, that doesn't mean more prophets wouldn't come. Jesus was a prophet AND Savior of this world.

Acts 2:17-And it shall come to pass in the last days, saith God, I will pour out of my Spirit upon all flesh: and your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, and your young men shall see visions, and your old men shall dream dreams:

Ephesians 4:11-And he gave some, apostles; and some, prophets; and some, evangelists; and some, pastors and teachers;

1 Corinthians 14:1
“Follow after charity, and desire spiritualgifts, but rather that ye may prophesy.”

Two prophets expected to return and take part in the tribulation, are Elijah and Enoch. These are two witnesses mentioned in Revelation 11:1-14.
Persephonee · 22-25, F
@LadyGrace You're quite right - I meant Old Covenant prophets x

Muslims see the Quran as the final word of the Abrahamic God, superceding all other words. Christians claim that it is not so! Much like the differing views of the Old Testament between those of the Jewish Faith and Christians i.e New Testament superceding the Old.

At another level, as I understand it, the Muslim sees the Living Word as the actual text of the Quran, as revealed by Mohammed, while the Christian sees the Living Word as Jesus Christ, as revealed by the New Testament.

The implications of this can be reflected upon by anyone interested.

sree251 · 41-45, M
@exexec And what did your professor think about the course he was teaching? Did he have any international recognition among peers in his area of expertise? Can you cite his published work? Let me take a look at the depth of his research.
exexec · 70-79, C
@sree251 Actually, I could city his works, but I'm not in this forum. He was a respected authority on Systematic Theology. The comment certainly applies to this discussion.

I view it as a continuation of scripture.

Muslims believer there is a perfect Quran in heaven and the one we have is an exact copy. Christian's believe that Bible is written by men under the inspiration of the Holy Spirit. Christian's do not believe that there is a perfect book in Heaven since Christian's believe Jesus is the Thoughts of God.

@Darksideinthenight2 yes, im aware, however, but most of the other waring members of the animal kingdom go to war against other species. Ants vs termites, bees vs wasps, that kind of thing. As far as war against the same species, meaning capable of producing fertile offspring with the enemy, might be just us. ..maybe chimpanzees too, but im not sure. I know they go to war against other apes and i know they have been known to murder other chimps.

If you think about all the other waring members of the animal kingdom, pound for pound, they could annihilate the human race if we weren't so good at the art of war itself. What makes us so good at it is our ability to think and reason abstractly, in my opinion.

I know our our ability of breakiation and our opposing thumbs is supposed to be what sets us apart from the rest of the animals but if we didn't have that I still believe we'd be on top of the food chain, our weapons and vehicles would just look different. As physically weak as we are otherwise, if we're not on top of the food chain we wouldn't have survived it all. What other apex predators can you cut with a piece of paper? LOL
@Jayciedubb
Hitler and Stalin were atheists and we're engaged against each other in the most bloody war of the last century, killing Millions. Religion is politics though, isn't it? It's politics without Borders.

I like what you said here. True. Religion is empty, described as manmade philosophy. That's all.
