Well they're clearly incompatible since that's also in essence the view of the New Testament!
The age of prophets closed with John the Baptist, in the Christian view. Although that isn't to say that the writings of early Christians (not ofc counting those who wrote the letters in the New Testament itself) aren't considered important. (Well, they are by Catholics, the Orthodox, and others with a sense of Christianity's own past, anyway).

In Christianity, the last prophet of the Old Covenant before the arrival of Jesus isJohn the Baptist(cf. Luke 16:16). The Eastern Orthodox Church holds that Malachi was the "Seal of Prophets" in the Old Testament. However, that doesn't mean more prophets wouldn't come. Jesus was a prophet AND Savior of this world.
Acts 2:17-And it shall come to pass in the last days, saith God, I will pour out of my Spirit upon all flesh: and your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, and your young men shall see visions, and your old men shall dream dreams:
Ephesians 4:11-And he gave some, apostles; and some, prophets; and some, evangelists; and some, pastors and teachers;
1 Corinthians 14:1
“Follow after charity, and desire spiritualgifts, but rather that ye may prophesy.”
Two prophets expected to return and take part in the tribulation, are Elijah and Enoch. These are two witnesses mentioned in Revelation 11:1-14.
