I think people are ignoring the fact that black people face a radically disproportionate rate of mistreatment.

Saying "black lives matter" isn't saying that other lives don't. It's saying black lives are just as important, a fact which doesn't seem to be much supported by the way they are treated

There's absolutely nothing wrong with feeling more attachment to people who look like you than to those that don't.
It's natural and if it stops there then there's no real harm done.

But that is SO not the issue here.
This is about discrimination. This is about black people receiving much harsher treatment from the criminal justice system and much worse and frequent violence at the hands of police. It's about social perception and economic oppression.

Grasshopper youre talking ignorantly until youve been black you wont really know the difference between the priviledge of a white man and the punishment of being black. im yet to hear of a white dude who's been shot by cops coz of being white. i dont know if you get pulled over everyday for owning a car that cops dont expect you to own coz of your color, idk if you have a gun pointed to your face(which isnt pleasant btw) when cops pull you over coz a car that ressembles yours was involved in a crime so many hours ago, idk if cops wanna arrest you for living in a neighborhood people like you arent expected to be in....im sure youve never had a teacher call you out to give a "black point of view" on a matter youre discussing in class....until youve felt it youll always think it aint a big deal just like everyone else does and just like every other person youll applaud when someone says something unpleasant about a race of people or if someone openly does something racist to someone

Sure, I can't judge about things in your countries. For me "discrimination of black people" is something from the middle of 20-th century, and the thing that was being actively used by the Soviet propaganda. Sure, some predjuses can live long. I believe, phisically and mentally black and white people are equal, so the roles could be easily swaped, and it can happen very soon in Europe.

I see, I'm in minority with my opinion here. Let it be.

Absolutely there are radicals of any movement that pervert it. But that's not under discussion here unless you feel "black lives matter" as a whole is radical and seeking to reverse the roles.


Sure. Can't argue with stats. But let's blow right by things that contribute to that statistic like socially enforced poor socio-economic status and education and get back to how black people are treated by the justice system.
See, you've made the comment that black people have a higher rate of crime than say white people. But black people also consistently receive harsher punishments than whites for the same crimes. Black people are met with more violence from police officers than white people. As a black man you are twice as like to be shot by police and if you've been watching the news you know that is absolutely not limited to criminals or even armed people.

Nothing wrong with having an opinion. But it should be an informed one. Given your apparent lack of personal experience with the subject i hope i have contributed to that end.

I think most people agree with the fact that all human lives matter. At the same time, it's natural for a human to feel attachment to his or her own race or nation (it's not only for white people, aren't black people feel the same attachment to their black fellows?) It's not about supremacy, it's about emotional envolvement with your own race or ethnic group.

Even with limited contact with black people in your city I cannot believe that you are unaware of the discrimination and mistreatment black people suffer elsewhere.

Yes racism happens to every colour. But in western countries it's really not happening to whites. At least not nearly with the frequency and severity that it happens to minorities, especially black people

In the city where I live there is a very few black people, they're all forein students.
Do you believe white people are "privileged" in your country? Is there any real discrimination for those who have black or another skin colour?

I don't agree with your last statement. I think it's not a fight against discrimination, but it's an attempt to swap the roles. That's because I don't like such approach. I believe racism has different colours, it's not only white.

I see your point Ytrewq101 but I'm white, British, male and I'm doing OK for myself. I couldn't be more privileged as far as the birth lottery goes... but I feel so much more empathy for the black community than my 'own' people in this matter. They are clearly being wronged on a daily basis and that shitty treatment is completely the fault of the people who built the world that now rewards us white folk just for being alive and punishes black people just for being who they are.

I think people are just pointing out the fact that not only black people are being mistreated EVERYONE is being mistreated. There is violence everywhere involving everyone.

Probably because of the fact that if someone says "white lives matter" he or she will be called racist and told that "all lives equally matter!" Why can't the people who say "black lives matter" be treated the same way?

I believe, radical femenists want women to dominate in the world. There are different "kinds" of feminists I think. Some want to be able act "like men" (seems to me like latent transgenders or something), some are TERF, and so on.

Regarding the pressure of police to the black people, you can't deny there is higher criminal rate among them than in average. I think, that's the main reason.

Everything I said was just my personal opinion, btw. I don't want to push it to anyone. Thank everyone for the discussion.

unparalleledmonster i mean that if you are trying to get a certain type of people to see what they have been doing they are going to look for the stupid way out and try to include themselves so they dont feel like shit.
