Why do people feel the need to respond to "black lives matter" with "all lives matter!"

What aren't you getting here? It's not about exclusion. It's about bringing attention to a particular group that is being mistreated.

I think people are ignoring the fact that black people face a radically disproportionate rate of mistreatment.

Saying "black lives matter" isn't saying that other lives don't. It's saying black lives are just as important, a fact which doesn't seem to be much supported by the way they are treated
