Why do people feel the need to respond to "black lives matter" with "all lives matter!"

What aren't you getting here? It's not about exclusion. It's about bringing attention to a particular group that is being mistreated.

I think most people agree with the fact that all human lives matter. At the same time, it's natural for a human to feel attachment to his or her own race or nation (it's not only for white people, aren't black people feel the same attachment to their black fellows?) It's not about supremacy, it's about emotional envolvement with your own race or ethnic group.
