Why do people feel the need to respond to "black lives matter" with "all lives matter!"

What aren't you getting here? It's not about exclusion. It's about bringing attention to a particular group that is being mistreated.

Even with limited contact with black people in your city I cannot believe that you are unaware of the discrimination and mistreatment black people suffer elsewhere.
Trust me, it's a big goddamn deal. Or don't trust me and look it up.

Now what on earth makes you say that you think the black lives matter movement is an attempt to "swap roles" ?
I guess then you are also of the opinion that feminism seeks to subjugate men rather than have women be treated equally?

Yes racism happens to every colour. But in western countries it's really not happening to whites. At least not nearly with the frequency and severity that it happens to minorities, especially black people
