Why do people feel the need to respond to "black lives matter" with "all lives matter!"

What aren't you getting here? It's not about exclusion. It's about bringing attention to a particular group that is being mistreated.

ytreeq101 - If people where treating white peoples as if they are disposable, then saying white lives matter would be justified. The fact is white is the status quo because of this saying white lives matter is akin to white supremacy. Everyone recognizes that white lives matter. How many recognize that black lives matter? How about brown lives or Native American lives? If you think they do, paint yourself another color for a day.
