Do you think hypnosis is real?

I've been doing hypnosis for many years, it's very real.

I’m not sure about the watch waggling in front of your eyes kind of hypnosis is a thing. But I know that I’ve seen some things that take me over and mesmerize.

it can enhance the ability to remember details of something significant that happened.

I can only speak to my own experience. I was hypnotized to quit smoking about forty years ago. The hypnotist instructed me to concentrate on the most serene, beautiful, calm landscape I could think of and I remembered an ethereal grove of aspen I’d seen on a family trip that went through Utah. The white trunks with the pale green leaves and the sun sending spears of light down into the grove.

The hypnotist told me to rub my thumb and forefinger together to summon up that serenity and peace.

I did not quit smoking, but to this day when I rub together my thumb and forefinger, I clearly see that splendid and soothing aspen grove.

Yes. Its just convincing your sub contious to respond to things. You can do it to your self. If you dont believe it it wont work for you because your changing your mind and the way you think so you have to believe you are changing to change.

Hypnosis is a form of repeated suggestion in your most relaxed state to adapt your mind to a form of Psychological 'Muscle Memory' that may help you overcome obstacles in your life or add positive habits to improve the same.

Yes I do. I can talk to one of my female parakeets and tell her several times that she is getting sleepy and she’ll start yawning and I can see her eyelids slowly closing. This is just a very simple example.

Everyone's got different brains, different sorts of susceptibility to different types of hypnosis.

Some aren't even legal. You could call what manipulators do long term hypnosis... Or those people who run cults maybe. Or those who use hypnosis as part of drug therapies. Might work, might not.
