The Best America can Hope for

The best thing we as the American Public, Taxpayers, and Consumers can do for ourselves as we look to 2023 figure things out is to get ourselves prepared for what we know is on the horizon. We're definitely on the knife's edge of Decline both Foreign and Domestic, the point is to mitigate whatever the damage that'll come with that.

• We cannot expect Government to solve the very underlying problems that it created to begin with. We certainly cannot expect Government to make anyone whole when the same US Government cannot even balance its own checkbook or secure its own Borders. There's hard work that's going to have to be done to get the United States and its Citizenry out of the Economic and Financial cesspool that's come about. The manufactured Coronavirus Pandemic, the 2020 Roll of the Dice (aka Election), The FTX Scandal, and subsequent Recession has reminded Taxpayers of this fact. There aren't going to be anymore Bailouts from the Government, We The People have to roll up our sleeves and bail ourselves out by doing things the Old Fashioned way and hard work.

• We need truely healthy Free Market Economic and Monetary Policy so American Taxpayers and Consumers can be able to take full advantage of the benefits and keep the Fruits of their own Labor, also able to grow and keep their Wealth.

• We need Foreign Affairs based on what the Founders understood to begin with; Trade, Commerce, and Honest Friendship with other Countries but entangling Alliances with none. A Foreign Policy that Talks, Negotiates with, Trades with, has Cultural exchanges with. We never use Economic Warfare or any Warfare against any Country without a Constitutional Declaration of War from The US Congress first! We treat other Countries the way we ourselves want to be treated. You can't bark about Human Rights when you don't practice it yourself.

Seasons Greetings to all...
• Most importantly, we must have a Limited Constitutional Government that does away with the so called Nanny State. The less Government we have, the more Freedom the People have. The Government that governs least governs best...

The American Welfare/Warfare State is disintegrating before our very eyes and we have runaway Inflation as far as the eye can see since the 70s. Others have an opposite opinion or belief system, that's the whole point of a discussion. It's isn't ideological or delusional to see our oncoming Train Wreck and wanting to protect oneself from the Collateral Damage. Getting upset with the Person who's telling the truth about the reality of the failure of our Government to deliver on everything that it ever promised is utterly ignorant, rather than being pissed at utterly Corrupt Politicians and Bureaucrats (everyone voted for and went along with) who made these promises and never delivered. I've studied and read about Constitutional Government, of we had it we wouldn't be forced to bear responsibility for and it'd solve where we find ourselves today.

The real problem is the US Citizenry accepted the idea that Government can and should provide them the very things that they can actually do for themselves and have the power to do for themselves. Seeing the track record of the US Government, any sane Person sees that Government causes the problems they're supposed to solve and/or exacerbates problems for the Public they claim they want to help.

A Constitutional Government provides the conditions for Prosperity for Poor People, the Middle Class, and the Rich due to Sound honest Money, Purchasing Power, Balanced Budgets, Low Cost Goods and Services, and no Taxation without Representation. The Citizenry keeps the Fruits of their own Labor and has the advantages of taking care of themselves.

A Constitutional Government produces National Defense required to keep the Citizenry safe from Terrorist Threats both Foreign and Domestic. The American Public, Taxpayers, and Consumers are Free to Travel, Trade, and have Cultural exchanges back and forth with whomever they please. We'd threaten no one, dictate to no one, and we'd respect the Sovereignty and the Sovereign Territory of other Countries. That'll rid the United States of Terrorist Threats and Terrorist Attacks, rid the United States of the pretext of Wars for Oil, Wars of Aggression, and Wars of Attrition. A National Defense means that Government doesn't take Money from it's Poorer Citizenry then give it to Rich People in Poorer Countries and it ending up being Weapons of War against.

I don't see how anyone could possibly be against the idea of Peace and Prosperity for all, Free Trade and Commerce for all, and Honest Friendship and Cultural Exchanges between whomever you want. Others live their lives the way they see fit and are treated as individuals, In 2023, Constitutional Government helps EVERYONE since Constitutional Rights are treated equally, Equal Justice under the Law, Others are Free to create Wealth/Capital. Commerce, Trade, etc. would be respected where you couldn't commit Fraud, Malfeasance, or Aggression against ANYONE without going regardless of your LAST NAME.

@Broache73 The Welfare State is there in the interest of the rich owner class, not the poor. It's not there to give people "free stuff" it's there so the "employers " don't have to pay amd povide for their workers and to promise them an ample supply of surplus labor.
walabby · 61-69, M
@Broache73 I don't think that you can call the current US inflation rate of 7.1% "runaway". It is higher than is comfortable, admittedly, but nothing like, say, 1923 Germany...

No one wants to fess up and admit the truth that the United States Government IS bankrupt in every way possible, the Bubble Economy has burst, more Pyramid Schemes (like FTX and Celsius) are imploding on themselves, and the Political Indentured Servants on Capitol Hill played their Constituents, Taxpayers, and Consumers like Violins...

You cannot Print, Spend, nor Bankrupt your way into any sort of Prosperity. Our Creditors are also the final judge of that too. We have a $30+ Trillion Debt Cesspool, Interest Rates increase that “Realized Debt”. Well over $100 Trillion is composed of “Unrealized Debt” which the United States is obligated for the future such as Government Pensions, Other Government Benefits, Entitlements, and Unfunded Liabilities. Tax Revenue has been $3.5 Trillion a year and US borrowing is about $1 Trillion a year (plus Interest due), about $4.7 Trillion a year is spent with NOTHING left over. There's something called Math!

Our Creditors (China, Japan e.g) seem to think we can pay back the “Loans” based on US Treasury Bonds, Bills, and Notes with 30, 20, and 10 year maturities. They're backed by “the full Faith and Credit of the United States Government” which means the Government’s Power to Tax its Citizenry, Businesses, and Corporations. When Creditors stop believing in the US ability to repay and the US Dollar itself, No One in their right mind will buy US Treasuries and we'll be left to rely on sky high Taxes and runaway Inflation in one way or another...

The time is now to prepare yourself, I myself like to and rather be an hour early than a minute late...

🤦‍♀️ Zero respect for the people that struggled with this illness or passed away. The whole world was affected and millions passed away and you seriously claim it was manifactured? This invalidates the entire post.
We The People have to roll up our sleeves and bail ourselves out by doing things the Old Fashioned way and hard work.
Do you advocate for mutual aid and commune building then? Because just taking away government institutions will otherwise be directly taken over by corporations.
American Taxpayers and Consumers can be able to take full advantage of the benefits and keep the Fruits of their own Labor, also able to grow and keep their Wealth.
Not going to happen in an Anarcho Capitalist society. A completly free and deregulated market would abolish even the smallest safety nets. Look at what is currently happening those who scream loudest for the total liberation of the market also support child labor. If there is no instance that gurantees you and makes sure you get the fruits of your labor the capitalists will keep stealing your surplus value.
Most importantly, we must have a Limited Constitutional Government that does away with the so called Nanny State.
A government is a tool that when utilised correctly, democratically and by proper people leads to a much better society. Look at countries like Finland for example or Chile under Salvador Allende.
The less Government we have, the more Freedom the People have. The Government that governs least governs best...
Wrong assesment...
The less government the more power to corporations and in fact the less control do you have over your own environment and your own work.
No to the current bourgeois state but yes to a government for the people under a different system. You fail to see that capitalism does simply not work and will never grant freedom.

trollslayer · 46-50, M
You seem to be repeating many right wing buzzwords.

The last time the government ran a surplus was during the Clinton presidency. However, a country isn't a household. As long as we have positive inflation, money we borrow now will be paid back in cheaper future dollars.

The COVID pandemic wasn't "manufactured." It's a real virus. If you're implying that it was released deliberately, I'd like to see evidence of that. In retrospect, our response to it could have been better.

Biden won the 2020 election by 7 million votes. The only reason it was a "roll of the dice" is because of our obsolete Electoral College that made it turn on just a few close states. If we had a national popular vote, the winner would be obvious by a wide margin.

The only large-scale effect of the FTX collapse will be if it leads to closer regulation of the crypto industry. There's currently a disconnect between people who want crypto to serve as a medium of exchange in a parallel economy, and people who just see it as an investment vehicle. Until this is resolved, crypto won't be good for either one.

I'm not sure what you mean by a free market. Libertarianism has never been successfully implemented on a national scale. We have a fissured economy where consumers don't have access to all of the information they would need to make fully informed decisions, and the economy is too complex to even allow that if the information was available.

We don't have formal declarations of war because those would ironically obligate us in ways we don't want. While I demonstrated against the Iraq War, it was authorized by Congress even if war wasn't formally declared.

"Nanny state" is a buzzword. The most free and prosperous countries take care of their citizens. Social Security and Medicare aren't just popular; they're promises that people relied on and are entitled to. The U.S. has less social welfare than many other developed countries; for example, we don't have universal health coverage, free public college, and are one of only 3 countries in the world that don't have paid maternity leave. Having these things would give us more freedom, not less. Only children think that freedom means being able to do anything you want with no consequences.
@Broache73 Fiat currency has no intrinsic value; the only reason it's worth anything is because people will accept goods and services in exchange for it. So as long as that continues, we're fine. I'm not sure what events would cause a total collapse of the dollar, but if that happens, we'd have a worldwide depression. If the Republicans refuse to raise the debt ceiling by this summer, that could happen unless Biden follows the Constitution and authorizes the Treasury to continue issuing new debt.

It doesn't matter what the man in the street knows. Everyone with any responsibility in this area is aware that fiat currency is a fabrication, albeit a very convenient one.
Broache73 · 46-50, F
@LeopoldBloom
If the Political Indentured Servants on Capitol Hill understood Balanced Budgets and Sound Honest Money backing our Currency to begin with, we'd have no need for a Debt Ceiling and we'd have no Inflation to start with...
@Broache73 Well, yes, if they cut spending and ran a surplus (like when Clinton was in office), then the national debt would be going down, not up. You can thank President Howdy Doody for screwing that up with his two wars. But we've already spent the money, so not borrowing more to pay for what we already have would destroy the dollar and collapse the world economy. McCarthy understands that; he's just playing chicken because his corporate overlords want him to.

I'm not sure what you mean by "sound honest money." If you mean the gold standard, tying our currency to a commodity would lead to instability. Gold isn't magic, it's only worth what people are willing to pay for it. And if we didn't have inflation, we wouldn't be able to borrow money today and pay it back later with cheaper dollars. Prolonged deflation would be a disaster.
Why on earth would anyone want to depend on someone else to do for them what they have the power to do for themselves?!
Kinda true given that the strict division of labor made us less free in a way not saying we shouldn't depend on each other especially when unable to do certain tasks on our own but less division of labor in certain areas makes sense and gives back freedom.

"For as soon as the distribution of labour comes into being, each man has a particular, exclusive sphere of activity, which is forced upon him and from which he cannot escape. He is a hunter, a fisherman, a herdsman, or a critical critic, and must remain so if he does not want to lose his means of livelihood; while in communist society, where nobody has one exclusive sphere of activity but each can become accomplished in any branch he wishes, society regulates the general production and thus makes it possible for me to do one thing today and another tomorrow, to hunt in the morning, fish in the afternoon, rear cattle in the evening, criticise after dinner, just as I have a mind, without ever becoming hunter, fisherman, herdsman or critic."

• The American Empire..
• The American Police State..
• The Welfare/Warfare State..
will end by crashing and burning. The World Community has wised up and they'll stop throwing good Money after bad. They'll stop playing Follow the Leader with the United States, and they'll no longer allow themselves to be subjugated to the US Government's horrific dictates and sadistic threats. You know this as well as I do.

I personally use what information I've readl, learned, ideas heard about, listened to, and discovered for myself then post what I myself believe what a Constitutional Government bears responsibility for. I'm very honest about that so there's a respectful discussion on the merits of issues. Whether or not all of them are my own ideas isn't the issue, the point is that whether or not we've prepared when the US Citizenry learns the truth and the World Community wises up. China in particular, has a complicated history, whether or not their Economics is in question is very complicated. They're backing their Currency with something real, their Relations with Russia is strengthening and tenable, they have the leverage to buy and trade from whomever they damn well please. On top of that, China can buy Natural Resources in open Markets (i.e. Afghanistan) since they seem to understand Capital Investment.

I put information out for anyone else to do with it what they will or please. It's not about whether or not we agree on everything or anything at all. People are responsible for using their higher education and critical thinking skills to find the answers they need to arrive at the truth. Others will decide for themselves what to believe, think, or do. That's not my place to tell anyone to do so, far be it from me. What you support or went along with is your personal business, your personal responsibility, and your Right as a "Free" American. After all, you'll bear responsibility for yourself and whatever you yourself went along with. Actions have consequences, and you'll definitely bear that responsibility too.

That being said, The Facts clearly speak for themselves that 9 out 10 in recent surveys believe that America is in Decline, 3 out of 4 believe Corporations have too much control over their Lives, and the Corporate Duopoly of Republicans and Democrats have failed miserably. The United States' Diplomatic Credibility is in the dustpins of US History. America's Foreign Affairs is in Shambles and is blowing up in our Faces due to the blood soaked War on Terrorism and War on Drugs. America's Fiscal, Economic, and Monetary development is in collapse since the US Dollar is nothing more than Phony Monopoly Game Money. We have Debt, Deficits, Dependency, and Inflation as far as the eye can see. The US Government cannot serve the needs or interests of the Citizenry since Corporations, the Military Industrial Complex, the Prison Industrial Complex, the Medical Industrial Complex, K Street Lobbyists, and AIPAC made sure that our Nation's Capital was Corporate Occupied Territory. You and I both understand that fact!

It really begs the following questions;
• How much longer will the American Citizenry continue to "Play the Fool" before they realize their Intelligence is being insulted by the same Officials they Elected to represent their Interests?!

• How much longer will it take for the American Electorate to realize that they're the Ones drowning in the Sea of Washington's Bull****?!

• How much longer will it take for the American Taxpayers to realize that the Joke and the Trick is always and solely on them?!

windinhishair · 61-69, M
@Broache73 Do you believe the million plus dead Americans are crisis actors and didn't really die?
Broache73 · 46-50, F
@windinhishair Do you?!
windinhishair · 61-69, M
@Broache73 @Broache73 No of course not. We had a very real pandemic that killed millions of Americans and killed millions more around the world. That isn't even debatable. It wasn't an orchestrated event.
Sorry no. The free market jazz is not going to be a substitute for democracy. Democracy id our human right.
@Broache73 the USA is exactly the opposite of democracy. It's a dictatorship.
But people understand that. The rest of the world is getting around the global tyrant the best they can. Cooperative efforts are expanding.
Finally trade without war and without dollars can become possible. Sanctions by America will be impossible.
It's US law and part of the UN charter that all government must guarantee the human right to participate in democracy. No other government is really legal.
@Broache73 Ironically pretty much every country on that list and several others you forget are the way they are thanks to American imperialism and US foreign policy with a bit of left over European colonialism.
Zeusdelight · 61-69, M
@Broache73 You are very sadly mistaken if you think what you have in the US is democracy. Don't dam it until you have experienced proper better expressions of it.
JonathanC · 61-69, M
What a crock of shit.
MarkPaul · 26-30, M
As you use the Internet that the government created, perfected, and released for public use. Practice what you preach.
@MarkPaul Libertarians never do.
MarkPaul · 26-30, M
@LordShadowfire Yeah, all talk, no action, and no conscience. When pushed, it turns out they don't really want to be subjected to libertarian rule, they just want to talk it up as they drive on "socialist roadways," beam with pride at government-controlled book bans and abortion prohibitions, and threaten people who practice their own set of beliefs they abhor with bullets to their heads.
Broache73 · 46-50, F
The United States Government at the very least, should be held to the same Moral Codes as the Public it supposedly serves
whowasthatmaskedman · 70-79, M
@Broache73 Hang on.. Have you seen the way members of the American public behave right here?????😷
Broache73 · 46-50, F
@whowasthatmaskedman
Of course, You also understand as I do that a drowning Man will drag anything to keep himself afloat...
whowasthatmaskedman · 70-79, M
Well you identified the problems very well.. Its too bad your proposed solutions make you one of them...Merry Christmas..😷
ViciDraco · 36-40, M
I would rather not turn our nation into an inconsequential backwater, thank you very much.

You seem a bit old to believe in magical thinking like the free market being good for most people. Free markets only work among small populations of well informed people willing to boycott for bad behavior. Trying to apply them to the modern world is going to get you into multiple monopolies, step declines in quality of life with near slave wages, and rural people getting screwed the worst because cities allow for economy of scale but delivering goods and maintaining service presence in low customer density areas is more expensive.
Indeed. The gov't is the underlying problem.
You have many opinions which are ill-founded.
@Broache73 That's one thing, but if the dollar plummets in value due to the Freedom caucus' actions, everyone's std of living will change.

But your characterization of the pandemic shows you aren't grounded in reality.
Broache73 · 46-50, F
@SomeMichGuy
You're free to figure things out for yourself, after all, its your Livelyhood not mine. I'm prepared and still making sure im prepared so I'm not grounded like everyone else...No Thanks
@Broache73 A potential economic problem is one thing.

However, the inability to understand the vast body of evidence about the pandemic's reality, the effectiveness of vaccines, etc., is not a great indicator of one's "research" abilities, discernment, understanding.
Yes… but looking it square in the face and not putting our heads in the sand, hoping it will go away. We need to do what we have to…
MrBrownstone · 46-50, M
When the people fear government we have tyranny. When the government fears the people we have freedom.
@MrBrownstone democracy is our right. War is a very effective way to make democracy impossible. Go NATO.
Let the free market fight Russia for Ukraine and let NATO stop using government money.
4meAndyou · F
Basically we're on our own. I agree. Government has failed us.
MethDozer · M
Nah, through our justifiable fear of the tyranny of big government, what we found ourselves facing now is the tyranny of big buisiness.

Government power isn't our problem, it's corporate power and a government controlled, owned, and opperating for the sole interest of capital.

I'm all for small government, but it doesn't mean dick in terms of freedom when big buisiness is given the right to exercise it's dominating power over the people. Small government, in terms of not telling people what they can do with their own lives as it effects them, but serving the roles of social caretaking, providing healthcare, demanding living wages, providing places to live and keeping the onwers of capital and bug buisiness in check and with severly limited power. That should be it's job instead of providing a monopoly of violence to protect capital interests and the property of the rich.
