GuiltyBiStander I would say that there is no extreme left in the Democratic party. Perhaps the closest candidate for that distinction would be AOC, and even she IMO is not extreme left, but let's look.
Are these policies extreme?
Medicare For All, lowering the costs of prescription medications,
supporting public education, supporting the separation of church and state, a Federal minimum wage of $20-25 per hour,
supporting a woman's right to choose to have an abortion, equal rights for all people not just a select few, and assuring that the rule of law applies equally to all persons, supporting voting rights as well as a national vote by mail option, eliminating the red tape and improving the immigration policy while following due process, and the Constitution, providing an immediate path to citizenship for all Dreamers, a review of each person who has entered the country illegally (which is a misdemeanor, not a felony) and offering a green card and/or path to citizenship based upon their record since entering the country, affordable housing.
Are these extreme measures to you?
I fully support everything I listed. If that makes me "extreme left" or a "Democratic Socialist", I wear that badge with honor.
The vast majority of the Democratic Party are centrists.
Obama governed as a centrist.
I have many issues with the old guard Democrats. I want them to move left!....but there's only one party that supports the Constitution and Rule of Law:
The Democrats.
The GOP party is dead. It is now 100% the Party of Trump, where those who do not bow down and pledge total loyalty to the Pathological Liar/Felon/Sexual Predator Trump, are quickly dispatched. Do not question. Fall in line or we will come for you!
That's Authoritarian Fascism/White Christian Nationalism.
To even suggest that it's the same as the Democrats, with all of their faults and shortcomings, is very foolish.....but a wise man once said: "Without fools, there would be no wisdom."
