Ah liberal fear mongering not understanding that the military has an oath that is not to political asshats but the Constitution.

The possible return of Trump to the Presidency has so many people terrified.
Why? Because he is not a true politician , but sees the internal destruction of this country, exposes it and weeds out the losers, aka the left, Marxists and communists.

@soar2newhighs
I don't have any emotional needs surrounding misogyny, but you certainly have issues with misogyny yourself! The time has come for you to abandon that state of denial you've been living in and face those anti-female shortcomings you've developed in your personality.
@swirlie Whatever you say.

No way would Trump turn on his country. He's the best President that America's has ever had and he will always love and care for us as a nation.
JollyRoger · 70-79, M
@whowasthatmaskedman I think (and I'm already prepared for your knee-jerk response) that American society is not really a 'society'; that instead the American people are individualistic people who think selfishly (Yes, your foreign policies are selfish too) and won't spend a penny to help someone who's in financial trouble unless there's a 'return' to be gained.
I know that you see immigrants coming in and taking jobs while others are lying about doing nothing to better their lives. However, those 'lay-abouts' have just given up on trying to fit into 'society' - why? Because they've been struck down at every attempt... And when someone puts their thumb on you everytime you try to rise up, even the pressure of a thumb on your back is defeating. Why do those immigrants come in and take those 'menial jobs' that nobody in your society wants? Because they are better than what they had in their home countries! They know what they need to do to survive - yet American folk, like you, begrudge them the scraps they are trying to gather together.
I know it's against the American Dream and the philosophy that everyone must make their own bed, but look at other countries where (Warning: American swear-word coming:) benevolent socialism (notice the small 's'?) helps equates social status. Countries like Sweden, Canada, Iceland. I live in Canada and I earn my keep...but it doesn't hurt me one bit if I hand over an extra 5% of my income to social causes that help keep poorer kids in school and out of gangs or help an abandoned mother to put food on her kids' table after 14 hours of working 2 or 3 jobs at minimum wage - or even if she can't work at all!!
whowasthatmaskedman · 70-79, M
@JollyRoger I agree with every word you just said. But I might add that the "individuals " are formed into regional semi tribal groups for support, such as the bible belters and the east coasters and west coasters.😷
JollyRoger · 70-79, M
@whowasthatmaskedman Sorry, Masked man.... I wasn't aiming that previous response in your direction.
On your latest observation- I notice that about America, that there are 'regions' of belief and political cohesion..... sort of like neighbourhood gangs - kids running together to defend a particular turf. We do have that in Canada too, but it isn't as pronounced.

@SteelHands Steely.... I give my commentary as I see it fits. Whether you took offense at it just indicates to me that the shoe might fit you.

I definitely believe that the election was stolen. I know that Trump trusted the wrong people more than he should have but he was in the learning stages just like we all were. But he did do the right thing by trying to allow each individual state to rule their own state. I know that Andy Bashar did a horrible job with his lock downs on KY and we're still hurting as a state because of it.
Vin53 · M
@needsmilk808

No, its not. trump makes a point of reiterating it every time he has a microphone in front of him. Its a binary debate that he insists is reality. The 2020 was stolen from him.
needsmilk808 · 56-60, M
@Vin53 neither your opinion nor trumps make no difference to me I’ve evaluated all the evidence I’ve seen my self and reached my own conclusions the same as anyone else has
Vin53 · M
@needsmilk808

Fine by me. I couldn't care less.
Trump has said that the Constitution gives him full power to do whatever he wants, the president should never be charged for any crimes committed, and he's talked about executing his political opponents.

So yeah, we're right to be scared. Trump desperately wants to be a dictator. Plus, the Republican Party has a plan to make it happen.

He isn't the one militarizing federal agencies against American citizens, nor funding enemies of United States (which is treason), nor weakening our military with idiotic woke policies like CRT & DEI, nor starting wars all over the world due to incompetence...

Ask any actual veteran on here, we respect Trump a helluva lot more than the brainless, traitorous piece of garbage currently in office...

If that "scares" you... good. Any enemy or traitor to the USA should be afraid of us...
Confined · 56-60, M
Biden has been trying to get the military to attack Republicans. Biden has been threatening to declair martial law if Trump wins. Biden is planning to start a nuclear war if he does not win the election. Trying to jail your political opponent is TREASON. Trying to have your rival killed is Treason.
The pull out from Afganistan was was Treason. He left our enemies with Billions of dollars of weapsons and information they can use to penetrate our forces.
Biden has been trying to destroy our military and make them all woke.
Biden has turned our solvernty over to the WHO. That is Treason. We do not give our rights away to the communist organizaton. ---let me say that again, letting the WHO take over our country is TREASON.
Biden wants to be able to turn off your bank accounts if you do not support him.
Biden has sworn to arrest and jail any one that does not support him.

When will every one wake up and Remove the traitor in office.
[c=800000]I am 100% convinced Biden will launch nuclear weapons on the american people in November in order to stay in power. [/c]

Any one who believes Joe Biden is a good leader and competent needs their head examined. He has advanced dementia. Most of the people who supported him the past want him gone! He has been an embarressment.

@SteelHands I appreciate the video...but ya know that man lies so much its hard to even believe anything he says... i will take it upon myself to KNOW he is against it....but is he REALLY... lol

I still believe what his actions say and not the words out of his mouth...

Also this piece plays big with me as well

His cabinet does not support America's diversity and he is all about the white male.... which sucks
SteelHands · 61-69, M
@black4white Equal opportunity is not equity of results.

Equal positions and pay rates at the disadvantage of measurable achievement and reduced opportunities for better qualified people is the definition of failure.

A highly qualified female or person of a certain race loses their right to have pride in rising above others because they got there not by merit, but because of being born a certain race or sex.

It makes any organization that practices quotas based on race inferior to one that does not.

You're bragging about prejudice that results in failure, not inclusion that results in greater success.

So you're convinced that the 2020 was stolen from trump even though there's not an iota or shred of proof of such. redredred · M
@Vin53 first off, I have not commented on the 2020 election.
Second, I don’t believe 100% of what anyone says, I don’t care what Trump says. Look you all, read what Officers and enlisted must swear when joining the military, their oaths and the Uniform Code of Military Justice prevent them from following an unlawful order or command.... even if given by the President.

Officer:
I (state your full name), having been appointed an officer in the Army of the United States, as indicated above in the grade of Second Lieutenant, do solemnly swear (or affirm) that I will support and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign and domestic, that I will bear true faith and allegiance to the same; that I take this obligation freely, without any mental reservation or purpose of evasion; and that I will well and faithfully discharge the duties of the office on which I am about to enter, so help me God.

Enlisted:
I, _____, do solemnly swear (or affirm) that I will support and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign and domestic; that I will bear true faith and allegiance to the same; and that I will obey the orders of the President of the United States and the orders of the officers appointed over me, according to regulations and the Uniform Code of Military Justice.
Baremine · 70-79, C
@Ontheroad can you pull up the oath of office for the president and vice president? Perhaps the one for Congress and Senate and the supreme court. Right now there is a problem every where in this government.
spjennifer · 56-60, T
@Ontheroad As someone who has Sworn both of those Oaths as an Enlisted and later as an Officer, I'm quite certain that our serving Men and Women know what they Swore to and what an "Unlawful" command is. tRump can always dream but I think the majority of our Service Men and Women are smart enough to know the difference between "Lawful" and "Unlawful" commands...

Trump openly called for suspending the constitution. Trump is frustrated because our constitution blocks would-be dictators like him. Thank you founding fathers!

As president Trump took an oath to protect and defend the constitution of the United States. That oath meant absolutely nothing to him.

Which Donald Trump has not done unlike this crook we have in the white house.
No, the military does not have total allegiance to any president!
needsmilk808 · 56-60, M
Lol the President is in the commander and chief, I’m not scared of anything like this person is describing. When I was in the military I was given an unlawful order, I explained/proved that it was unlawful and nothing happened. We didnt just blindly follow orders all the time, most times we were expected to think.
@needsmilk808 Yeah... I wondered how Trump was Commander And Chief when he is no longer President - and, if it was theoretically as easy as saying the words, then, why didn't he do so during his first term in office???

I'm not entirely sure why some people think that the military are just mindless goons, following the orders of some faceless guy upstairs that they never see.
Like Biden wants to with the Texas NG?
TexChik · F
He will be the commander-in-chief if he becomes president. By definition that means he controls the military. So breaking the law like Biden had been doing is ok?

Why would Trump break the law? Opposing socialists is not illegal!
redredred · M
As president he is commander-in-Chiefsohe has control of the military. When he was president we had a reduction in force overseas and no new military adventures, the first time since Eisenhower
Give the military hierarchy more credit than being mindless followers of any president.

Ynotisay · M
I've heard these types of arguments before but this is one area I don't have much concern. Not that he wouldn't want to weaponize the military for his own power. He tried it during his term. And without some of the career military officials around he might have succeeded. But those guys get to that point after a long military career. They do NOT pledge allegiance to an individual. Not how it works. I think we're safe there.
SunshineGirl · 36-40, F
We may soon face a similar dilemma in the UK. The ruling government's immigrant policy is likely to breach international law if realised in full. How then should the civil servants charged with carrying out the policy act? Are political impartiality and service to an elected government more important than the rule of law?
Baremine · 70-79, C
@JollyRoger democrats don't think. They are born that way.
JollyRoger · 70-79, M
@Baremine I'm not sure what you mean. Give me a bit more, please.
Baremine · 70-79, C
@JollyRoger sunshinegirl talking about folks int USA thinking about what their politicians are doing.
DrWatson · 70-79, M
This issue arose during the Nixon administration.

There was a fear that Nixon might use the military to stay in office.

The pentagon sent out a memo reminding all personnel to honor the chain of command. If anyone were to receive a direct order from the president that bypassed the joint chiefs of staff, they were to ignore it.
What is a 16 ton anvil lands on you? If Trump isn't the POTUS, then he isn't the commander-in-chief of the military, right? As POTUS, he'd have to suspend the Posse Comitatus Act. The Atlantic is such a trustworthy source of pure 🐂💩

The President of the United States is the Commander-in-Chief of the US Armed Forces and forms military policy WITH the Department of Defence AND the Department of Homeland Security, both Federal Executive departments, ALTOGETHER acting as the Principal Entity comprised of those 3 branches, by which military policy is carried out COLLECTIVELY, not unilaterally by any one of them.

What this means is, the President has no more control over the US Armed Forces than does the DoD or the DHS individually, which further means they all have to agree on how and when military policy is or is not carried out, or nothing happens.

The President can no more take unilateral control of the US Armed forces than can either Federal Executive department take unilateral control.
