What IF Donald Trump tries to control the US Military?

I didn't like this interview because it scares me! It's one thing to say that the POTUS has the total allegience of the Military because he's their Commander in Chief..... but what happens (if as laid out in this interview), he insists on breaking the law?

Trump has said that the Constitution gives him full power to do whatever he wants, the president should never be charged for any crimes committed, and he's talked about executing his political opponents.

So yeah, we're right to be scared. Trump desperately wants to be a dictator. Plus, the Republican Party has a plan to make it happen.

Vote Biden.

@BohemianBoo Wow! Deep State, Q Anon, Progect 2025.......
It's amazing how American democracy has transmogrified into partisan oligarchy.
Where is the 'voice of the people?' Who, after such a system is installed will be able to dissemble it?
Will there be another American Civil War?

Does anyone want to move to Canada?
@JollyRoger Well, it's really only one party doing shit like this. The Democrats, for all their flaws, aren't trying to end our democracy. Plus, most Americans agree with the Democrats' policies, so they are the voice of the people. They just need to get better at fighting to pass their bills.

@BohemianBoo I agree "They just need to get better at fighting to pass their bills." And they need to get better at voicing the purposes of their bills. Of course, for me, being a Canadian, I don't understand the nuances of how your system works.... Balance of Power of course - but why is there such resistance to the good legislation that has been proffered?
SO much time and money has been wasted in arguments and false starts that those 'tax dollars' spent could have built a city for the homeless, created universities for the enlightened underprivileged and hospitals for the destitute sick people!
Hey... I just realized that I'm crazy mentioning that stuff here..... All of that is SOCIALISM.... a word not to be uttered in the US of A.

@BohemianBoo Wikipedia? You’re funny
@JollyRoger
but why is there such resistance to the good legislation that has been proffered?
Manufactured consent. Billionaires fund right-wing media to convince people to support policies that benefit the rich, even though these same policies hurt the working-class that vote for them. There's a reason there's no mainstream left-wing media. The rich and powerful are pouring a ton of cash into right-wing media.
Then these same people, who vote against their own interests, get so angry at the system that they end up supporting someone like Trump, just so their suffering is spread to other people.
@redredred I know, the Right hates Wikipedia, because it cites sources.
JollyRoger · 70-79, M
@BohemianBoo If I were a nail I think you'd have hit me directly on the head with that statement: SO TRUE!
redredred · M
@BohemianBoo yeah, sure. News flash, Mother Jones is not a source
@redredred That's nice, but the False Electors Plot doesn't have Mother Jones as a source. Not that this article even needs much sourcing, considering a bunch of the people involved admitted to this.
redredred · M
@BohemianBoo Trump is the next president. Treasonous Joe Stupid is going to prison for allowing the southern invasion. No one need a source for that either.
@redredred #deflection

It's too bad, I remember back in 2016, people were making arguments for picking Trump over Hillary. Some of the arguments were good, some were bad, but at least there was an honest belief in Trump maybe being the lesser evil.
But over the course of Trump's presidency, it just became a cult. Now, the Left will make a point about Trump being fascist, and the Right will just go, TRUMP IS GONNA WIN! JOE BRANDON IS GOING TO JAIL! LOLOLOL!!!

It's a cult. Y'all don't care about policy or the country, it's just about undying loyalty to Trump.
whowasthatmaskedman · 70-79, M
@BohemianBoo Lets not pretend Trump is the underlying problem here. There is a federal convention to monitor and insure there is no fraud in elections. However, since elections are a state responsibility, the states, through each state secretary of state, are responsibile. And over the years, red state after red state have withdrawn from this monitoring system. So it is the Republicans themselves who are responsible for any vulnerability in the system. There is a pattern of weakening the process through voter suppression and gerimandering that long predates Trump and frankly is far more sophisticated than trump could manage. Trump is simplym the figurehead. That pointless lump of wood at the front of the ship..Get hold of Roger Stones phone to find the names you need to know..😷
@whowasthatmaskedman Trump is one of the reasons things have gotten so bad, but yes, the Right has been on this path for a long time, starting with Newt Gingrich and Ronald Reagan.
whowasthatmaskedman · 70-79, M
@BohemianBoo Quite So. Trump accelerated a bad situation.😷
redredred · M
We usually let due process decide that, not hearsay and rumor.@whowasthatmaskedman
whowasthatmaskedman · 70-79, M
@redredred And due process will decide it over 90 times. That guy is just SO unlucky...😷
@whowasthatmaskedman Nobody has been treated more unfairly in the history of the world than Trump. 😭
redredred · M
@whowasthatmaskedman When did he get tried for insurrection?
@redredred He was found civilly liable for rape in court. So he's a rapist, right?
redredred · M
@BohemianBoo Not so, the least fairly treated person in history was whoever was responsible for what passed for your education.
redredred · M
@BohemianBoo Nope but it’s probably beyond your understanding. A criminal proceeding would make that determination, not a civil trial
@redredred See? You don't actually care what's determined in court. If Trump was found guilty of insurrection in court, you'd just say it doesn't count because the judge was a Mexican or whatever.
whowasthatmaskedman · 70-79, M
@redredred Point of Order. The claim HAS found his "Liable" as was stated. And the definition by the courts was that the act qualified as "r@pe"😷
@whowasthatmaskedman The decision was made based on the court accepting that Trump did commit rape. So Trump was found to be a rapist in a court. Will this stop people from voting for him? Nope, because it's cult, plus most of his supporters like that he's a rapist.
