What IF Donald Trump tries to control the US Military?

I didn't like this interview because it scares me! It's one thing to say that the POTUS has the total allegience of the Military because he's their Commander in Chief..... but what happens (if as laid out in this interview), he insists on breaking the law?

The President of the United States is the Commander-in-Chief of the US Armed Forces and forms military policy WITH the Department of Defence AND the Department of Homeland Security, both Federal Executive departments, ALTOGETHER acting as the Principal Entity comprised of those 3 branches, by which military policy is carried out COLLECTIVELY, not unilaterally by any one of them.

What this means is, the President has no more control over the US Armed Forces than does the DoD or the DHS individually, which further means they all have to agree on how and when military policy is or is not carried out, or nothing happens.

The President can no more take unilateral control of the US Armed forces than can either Federal Executive department take unilateral control.
